Hello! How are you this lovely morning? I’m deliriously happy – I’m just head over heels in love with today’s wedding. Heather and Gary chose Maunsel House for their vintage travel wedding – a fabulous venue indeed. And then they decided on vintage Vespas for wedding transport. Now as you might know, I ride a Vespa and I’m always, always looking out for Vespa weddings to feature. This one is special – and just look at those beautiful little scoots!

Today’s gorgeous couple tick all the boxes for me – they chose a superb wedding photographer, Neale James, who gets a glowing review in the wedding report (towards the end of the blog feature today). And as further proof of their excellent taste and style, my lovely friend Joanne from Vintage Twee made their on the day stationery (wonderful wedding menus, orders of service and table numbers to fit with the vintage travel wedding theme).

Hello there! I hope you’re having a nice weekend, taking it easy and spending a little quality time with your other half. We’re just about to head up a little mountain in the northern Lake District – weather permitting! But before we go, I have to share some of what I’ve been reading this week with you. I think you’ll love these…

Hello everyone! I have a little calligraphy post for you this morning, which I thought I’d share after reading some comments on (my top favourite!) Oh So Beautiful Paper blog. Whether you’re writing your own envelopes in a quirky script, using a calligraphy font or hiring a calligrapher (I’m available!) you should consider how easy your addresses are to read.
handwritten calligraphy address example (2)

Two things to watch out for if anyone’s thinking of hiring a calligrapher or learning:

1. The house name or number must be crystal clear. Watch for 1s that look like 7s and if you’re not sure, don’t embellish simple numbers. Clarity is more important than a fancy flourish.

2. The post code should be the most legible thing on the envelope. Again make sure the numbers and letters aren’t overly flourished here.

In the UK envelopes are sent through the Royal Mail sorting depots and usually go through machine readers. If the machine can’t read the address they’re sorted by hand.

Hello my lovely! Have you been smiling much this morning? I hope so – and I’m going to do my very best to make you smile even more with today’s gorgeous wedding on the blog. I’m sharing Lisa and Neil’s rustic outdoor wedding from sunny Gloucestershire – and it’s just full of wonderful details and ideas – as well as the beautiful sunlight I love most of all!

rustic outdoor wedding UK photography Dafydd Hughes (2)I definitely think as the nights draw in it’s time for me to feature more sunny, summer weddings with you! The occasional snowy wedding is lovely… but sunshine like this just can’t be beaten! And they keep saying we’re in for a long, snowy winter – so I’m staging a little rebellion here on the English Wedding Blog from today!

rustic outdoor wedding UK photography Dafydd Hughes (3)I loved Lisa and Neil’s wedding from the first moment I saw it. Cotswold wedding photographer Dafydd Hughes shared their images with me – and he’s been on the English Wedding Blog before, featuring Sean and Rachel’s sunny wedding with hay bales… not only does lovely Dafydd specialise in beautiful photography, he seems to come with free sunshine! Yay! See his website at http://dafyddhughesphotography.co.uk/

Morning my lovely blog reader! I do hope you’re keeping warm wherever you are. It’s 3-jumper time for me here in my little studio! But today I have a lovely treat to warm your heart – with gorgeous bride and groom Faye and Matt. Their Welsh wedding has pretty much everything and then more – a silhouette artist, barbecue picnic, a home made cake of meringue kisses (I know!!! I want one too!)… And then there’s Faye’s beautiful dress, her fabulous shoes and little jacket… it’s all just wonderful.

Do enjoy the wedding and please take the time to read Faye’s fantastic wedding report. She made me chuckle, and cry, and smile along with her – and the advice she gives on budgeting and enjoying the day is priceless from beginning to end. You’ll find the full report from the gorgeous bride at the end of today’s blog feature. Don’t miss it!

Morning everyone! I hope you like the changes I’ve made to my blog header and colours this week – a redesign was long overdue! And while I’m in introspective ‘wedding blogger’ mode it strikes me that wedding bloggers have a big responsibility to all of those we feature – to the brides and grooms whose weddings we share, to photographers and suppliers, and to our readers.

But it’s an incredibly delicate balancing act to get it right for everyone.

Balancing a wedding blog – getting it right for brides and grooms, photographers and readers

I love the real weddings I feature on the blog, and it’s a real privilege for me to be able to share such a personal event as a wedding. For every bride and groom I feature on the blog I try and make sure I show the best bits of their day. I’ll focus on how beautiful the bride looks in her dress, how their love shines out on the photos – and of course try and share as many of the details of the day as I can. After all, couples and their families spend countless hours and days crafting everything from bunting to cakes, stationery and flowers. The least I can do is share all of their hard work with my readers.

I had a little chuckle when Lydia from Kalms offered me some freebies – I already have plenty! (I took my driving test and my motorbike test this summer… I also run my own wedding business and I’m sure I’m not the only self-employed creative person who will recommend Kalms!) Nonetheless, this is a very interesting – and worrying – survey about the stress of planning a wedding. I would love to hear what you think of the results. Any surprises? Are you and your other half feeling the stress of wedding planning?

Sophie and Jonathan’s top tip: “Keep calm and enjoy it. You have done everything you can so just let things flow…but do have delegated responsibilities for the best man / maid of honour etc… It will take most of the stress away.” (Click the image to see their wedding)

Morning lovelies! Did you have a wonderful weekend? I hope you had the same amazing sunshine I did yesterday – it was glorious walking in the forests near my home, almost magical. I’m feeling all in love with nature this morning and thought it would be the perfect time to share this beautiful lavender inspired wedding photo shoot with you. The gorgeous couple is Tamarin and Graham Hart, and the theme is Lavender Love!

The shoot, which was styled and shot by wedding photographer Corette Faux with flowers by Joanne Truby Floral Design, shows how you can incorporate fragrant lavender into your wedding day. Lavender makes me think of France in summer, of long lazy days and rustic celebraitons. The shoot also takes the lavender theme a step further, with simple, rustic ideas for a picnic style meal and beautiful sunny photos.

The last wedding I went to was going to be an outdoor wedding in the Lake District in August. It was such a shame for the bride and groom that it poured down that day… but if the sun had shone it would have been so beautiful. It still was, of course! But it was beautiful inside. In contrast, today’s English outdoor wedding on the blog is one of those days where the dream of a sunny wedding ceremony really did come true. Beautiful Hannah and Ben were blessed with gorgeous weather and their wedding day was magical.

Hi there my lovely, how are you this morning? I thought it was about time I showed you something new from the gorgeous and fabulously talented bridal designer Charlotte Balbier. Charlotte has launched her latest collection, A Decade Of Style, to celebrate 10 years of the Balbier brand – and she remains one of my all time favourite wedding dress designers.

Charlotte is so passionate about her designs: “Each gown has an identity, a distinct look and feel and its own story behind the magic. The collection captures a bride’s imagination, Charlotte’s main passion when designing each fashion forward piece with the bride in mind. Each bride embarks on a journey and consumed by love, they all have their own consuming love story to tell.

Morning everyone! I’m going to share a bit of my personal work today – because the projects I’ve been working on are pretty versatile and I think they’ll work beautifully for weddings as well as for *cough* Christmas. I know! It’s early – but I’m feeling festive. There’s even a freebie for you at the end of this page! I’ve already started Christmas shopping, haven’t you? I’m ready to wrap a few prezzies already!

I’ve been working with the lovely Kirstie Allsopp writing tags and labels for all sorts of things – we’ve labelled jars of chutney, apple juice, and gift tags over the last few weeks. I’ve added some of the designs I did for Kirstie to my Etsy shop, and there’ll be more coming soon. If you’re looking for tags for special presents then have a look! I hope you like them.

Hello again! I’m happy to be bringing you a little sprinkle of summer again this morning. Sophie and Jonathan had a lovely English country garden inspired wedding and were blessed with glorious sunshine. Today’s blog is full of the prettiest details in delicious pastels – and of course, a beautiful bride, handsome groom and some romantic moments to capture your heart.

The images today come from Ross Alexander at Moment Photography. Sophie’s wedding report includes an amazing review for Ross along with details of other top wedding suppliers (check out the florist too! – wow!). The wedding reception was at The Castle Hotel in Taunton, Somerset.

I should say a huge thank you to Sophie and Jonathan – and congratulations to you both! I’m so pleased to be sharing your wedding on the English Wedding Blog today (you’re making it look soooo pretty!). Thanks also to Ross aka Moment Photography for submitting this wedding 🙂 Claire xxx
