Morning lovely! I’m so pleased to be able to share this with you today – exciting news for a friend of mine, and brilliant news for you as well! Wedding Planning for Dummies… it’s difficult to write an intro for two reasons:

1. I have a ridiculous amount of respect for anyone who can plan a wedding – either their own, or to move on to becoming a professional wedding planner. It’s the most time consuming, frazzling, stressful thing I can imagine! I think you’re all amazing.

2. I also think you’re crazy. In my mind professional wedding planners must be mad to do this for a living! Planning one wedding seems like the challenge of a lifetime… planning two or three at a time – my little imagination can’t even cope with the thought. Yeeeeeikes!!

Having spent yesterday making paper flowers, and seeing all the bluebells flowering this month I’m feeling very floral and summery. The English country garden wedding is massive this year if my calligraphy enquiries are anything to go by (crazy times!) and flowers are most definitely the most exciting thing happening in weddings right now – so with no further waffling I bring you some delicious-looking new designer wedding cakes by Rosalind Miller. The Floral Couture Collection – stunning. Enjoy!

Morning! Today’s wedding is a little special – it’s not the first time gorgeous bride Sarah has featured on a wedding blog… in fact she’s been on the English Wedding Blog very recently! As a wedding photographer Sarah sees so many weddings – and like many in the wedding industry she chose to do things differently. Her dress was made for her, and inspired by a genuine vintage dress she’d found on Pinterest. Stuart wore jeans, which I think is the best thing ever (Sarah adds that they had to be nice jeans!) and their florist Sarah Jones came up with the vintage medical theme incorporating lots of wonderful little glass bottles with flowers!

There’s so much to this wedding that makes me smile: the gorgeous images and Sarah’s beautiful smile – the portrait photos of today’s lovely couple are just wonderful. Then there’s the vintage medical theme, which is genius! Stuart and Sarah had vintage medical equipment (yes!), those lovely bottles and also lots of books… and who wouldn’t enjoy sitting down at a wedding reception and dipping into 1950s books about anatomy for nurses?! Brilliant!

Hello lovely! Today’s wedding is full of home made details by the gorgeous bride and her mum. Jamie and Geoff planned a vintage tea party theme for their day and as they were saving up for a house they needed to keep their wedding costs down. So while Geoff played cricket every Saturday during the summer, Jamie and her mum spent countless hours making everything from stationery to bunting.

Woodborough Hall wedding blog (1)

The wonderfully couple only spent money on the things which couldn’t be made: the wedding cake, entertainment, venue and of course their lovely photographer! Jamie shares some very wise advice, and I really have to highlight this: “If you want to save money, making your own things is a great idea but it takes hours… we spent every Saturday for a year and only finished a few days before the wedding.

The homespun look is big at the moment, but don’t underestimate the time it takes! Remember there’s a difference between home made and handcrafted, and there are many wonderful independent craft businesses who can save you time instead!

Cathy and Alan were married at Great Fosters in Surrey – a spectacular venue with so many gorgeous locations for beautiful photographs. Great Fosters dates from the 16th century and has so much character with its grand rooms and portraits, wood panelling and extensive landscaped gardens.

Cathy’s wedding dress is beautiful and comes all the way from a bridal boutique in San Francisco! She told me, “it was one of the most beautiful shops I have ever seen and I could have purchased all of the dresses. My dress was so unique and special, I could not wait to wear it and loved it on the day!

Today’s wedding is one of those lovely classic English weddings with a focus on the celebration itself rather than all the little details. When I asked Cathy to describe their wedding day in a single sentence she said it was about “love, friends, family, laughter, well wishes, great food, drink, dancing & fun.”

Fiona Cairns cakes (7)

Good morning everyone! How are you today? I have a treat for you – feast your eyes on these delectable wedding cakes by Fiona Cairns. Fiona designed and made a pretty famous cake for a fairly well known couple called William and Kate – and now crafts cakes on a major scale from her bakery in Leicestershire. As well as supplying cakes to Waitrose, Harrods and Selfridges Fiona makes bespoke wedding cakes which start at £500.

The team at Fiona Cairns ensure that each Wedding Cake is a beautiful centre piece that reflects your individual style and personality. To achieve this, the design team work very closely with every bride to create a truly spectacular cake.

Delicate piping and exquisite sugar flowers that match your bouquet are the main areas of specialism, as well as the ability to recreate the lace detailing of your dress on the cake itself. The style can be traditional, contemporary, monochrome or bright and fresh. You could even decide on a collection of smaller cakes, each in a different but complementary design, or a “Naked” cake with fresh fruits and crystallised flowers.

Jenna told me all her nightmares about falling down the aisle disappeared the moment she saw Jak there waiting for her: “although I knew the room was full, it was like no one else was in the room.” Isn’t that beautiful?

Their wedding was a vintage glam affair, liberally decorated with gypsophila which looks gorgeous. Jenna wore a silk wedding dress and Jenny Packham jewellery. The venue – wonderful Blackbrook House in Derbyshire – needed little decoration and was the perfect setting for a glamorous, vintage-inspired wedding.

I really love this wedding for its creative little touches. Jak and Jenna have designer friends whose skills came in handy for everything from the invitations to hairdressing on the day! They chose Nottinghamshire wedding photographer Pete Henderson to capture their day and his images are just lovely.

You’ll love this wedding – and vintage-loving brides and grooms will find plenty of inspiration here. Don’t skip the wedding report – Jenna’s closing comment made me laugh out loud! Awesome 🙂 Enjoy!

Some wedding photographers stand out from the crowd as artists – and that’s no mean feat with so many photographers shooting weddings. There’s a huge level of skill required to shoot a wedding: a great photographer will be unobtrusive, charming, will never miss a moment, will offer advice, and will conjure up images which will take your breath away. And then there are the artists, the wedding photographers who capture atmosphere and magic as well as romance and cherished memories.

I adored Holly and Paul from the moment I first saw their wedding pictures on Tracy Morter‘s photography blog. They’re a creative couple who planned a gorgeous wedding with a focus on family and friends. Holly’s wedding report is amazing: this lady is as wonderfully practical as she is enthusiastic and creative – it’s an unmissable read for ideas and wedding tips. Thank you beautiful Holly, you rock!

The images, by wonderful wedding photographer Tracy Morter, are fabulous. Tracy’s photography always inspires me: she captures emotion, laughter and smiles as beautifully as she does the finer details of every wedding day. Do visit her website to find out more:

There is so much to see, I don’t know where to begin to introduce this gorgeous wedding: Holly’s beautiful flower crown, her natural hair and make up style, the lovely dress bought in New York… and then Paul’s fantastic blue suit, the incredibly decorative venue… or the laughter and smiles from the beginning of the day through to the last dance…

As much as I love a bit of quirky, a dash of creativity and all kinds of unusual weddings, I don’t think timeless elegance and style can be beaten. Laura and Pete’s Stratford-upon-Avon wedding at The Welcombe Hotel is the perfect example.

Laura’s orchid bouquet is exquisite; their wedding cake is impressive; the venue full of character and tradition. They married at The Holy Trinity Church before their Welcombe Hotel reception.

Images are by wedding photographer Benjamin Toms, who says, “It was a beautiful sunny and chilly winter’s day, and the light was just perfect for the bridal portrait shots back in the grounds at the Welcombe Hotel. It was a fantastic day filled with emotion and such a pleasure to be part of.

Laura and Pete were thrilled with their photographer:

Looking back on the photos from our wedding brings a tear to my eye. They tell the story of the day so perfectly and so beautifully. Ben was fantastic and captured every moment so that we would never forget it. Thank you so much! Laura and Pete.See more…

I think it’s on the verge of being pretty big news in wedding photography – and I know couples who investigate 20Collective will like what they see. I know I do.
