As with last week’s Custard Factory wedding, there are some names you just can’t ignore! Crimson Moonshine lands squarely in that category, and when I heard from lovely Amberin and Chloe I earmarked a spot for them on the English Wedding Blog straight away!

Wedding stationery by Crimson Moonshine UK (1) Crimson Moonshine have created their own very unique, fresh look in wedding stationery. Their suites are creatively named: from my favourite ‘Kate & Andy’ through the quintessentially English ‘William & Mary’ to the chic stripes of ‘Johnny & June’ – I think they’re fab!

Becky and Pete’s rustic barn wedding combines a classic colour scheme with more contemporary details – and it’s just amazing. Becky told me, “I sort of built the idea of the day around the beautiful rustic barn… my flowers were quite rustic and wild with lots of foliage, so wooden/greenery/purple was our theme!

Wedding at Channels Lodge by Laura Calderwood Photography (32)

Gorgeous bride Becky did a fantastic job styling her wedding, along with her mum spending time creating lots of DIY bits and bobs: “I hand-made a lot of the decorations and details – my mum made the favours and planted all of our table centres herself.” They suited the barn at Channels Golf Club perfectly – I especially love the flowers in planters on every table, and the funky purple table numbers!

Paper fetish, anyone? [blogger pauses to raise hands] – it’s often part of wedding planning: you start looking at invitations and favours and see so many beautiful things you get hooked.

Welcome to my world!…  I’m Claire and I’m a paper addict 🙂 so when I planned my first styled wedding shoot this year it had to be focused on the prettiest paper details.

Paper and mirrors styled wedding shoot (32)

Button and brooch bouquet by the fabulous Natasha at Pumpkin & Pye | Love quote flags by lovely Jo at Vintage Twee

We began with a simple concept: paper and mirrors. I would provide the paper and calligraphy details; photographer Jamie Vickerstaff would do his thing with mirrors and reflections. And wow, didn’t he just…

I wanted to show how you can create a wedding style around two simple ideas, and build on it to create an exciting and colourful display. Beginning with watercolour paper and calligraphy we added vintage stationery and china, a brooch bouquet in pastel colours, cakes with watercolour tiers and more details to create a cohesive look. I loved every second!

Hi everyone, and happy Tuesday to you all! I have a helpful feature up my sleeve today – rather than bringing you ideas every day I like to share useful and practical advice to help you plan your day. So let’s talk about wedding entertainment planning. To be honest, I’d never considered there’d be more to it than booking a band, telling them what time to arrive and where, and paying them afterwards. If that’s your approach, then this article is for you…

Wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell first featured here on the English Wedding Blog with a styled ‘vintage military wedding‘ shoot – which tugged at my heartstrings, being inspired by a real life story. I’m delighted to be able to introduce you to Suzy as an English Wedding Blog sponsor today. She’s passionate about her photography – and it shows. Suzy’s images are timeless and beautiful: she captures those unexpected and magical moments as well as she photographs wonderfully artistic portraits… and I love her work.

Suzy told me, “I was trying to think of the one thing I most wanted to say to a couple considering booking me, as their photographer and it was simple really, just that I want it to be fun!! To get to know you as a couple, understand what you are looking for and for you to really enjoy the experience of working with me!

Expert advice is invaluable when you’re planning a wedding. I had an email a few weeks ago from a bride who’d booked her venue and then realised it wasn’t big enough for all of her guests for both the ceremony and reception – she was desperately looking for a ceremony venue at the last minute, and I did my best to help. So I’m hugely grateful to lovely Gabrielle of Blue Bouquet Bride, who works at a luxury wedding venue, for writing today’s feature. Searching for a wedding venue – and getting everything right – isn’t easy. Gabrielle knows all the questions to ask, and shares her advice with us here today. Her list of 15 essential questions could be invaluable for you if you’re deciding on your wedding venue.

Irregular Choice are famous for their alternative wedding shoes – and let’s be honest, a bit of a marmite brand! They’re not for delicate, traditional brides; but for shoe lovers and creative, quirky brides they’ve been favourites for years.

They’ve launched a new winter collection and I’ve been bursting to show you! Some I love, some I can’t decide on, and some I’ve chosen not to share here(!) – as I say: marmite. Make your own mind up!

More than a few times as I flicked through the images for today’s real wedding blog feature I gasped, chuckled or did my best little attempt at a blogger squeal – because it’s just so fantastic! There’s everything: gorgeous couple, beautiful dress, large orange octopus… Oh and there are bubbles, vintage maps, a button bouquet with a librarian badge… too much to mention before I show you the fabulous images!

Emma and Richard are simply brilliant. Emma’s smile never fades – she’s such a beautiful bride and wears “the first and only dress I tried on”. I love her style and everything about her.

Romance is in the air this morning as I bring you one of the prettiest styling ideas of the year: mocha and metallics. There are endless possibilities with this colour palette – today’s shoot uses soft tones and the prettiest of details to create a timeless wedding style I know you’ll love.

Charlotte is a dressmaker and the gowns she and her Legend Bridal team create are truly bespoke. We tend to take the influences from the gowns and accessories that the team from Legend have made.

For the Berrington Hall shoot, our theme was glamour with a touch of mocha. The shoot was very much a glamorous style with Charlotte’s (Legend Bridal) sequins and pearls and crystals featuring throughout. There is still a nod towards vintage weddings but with a more glamorous edge with golds and metallics featuring too.

So! Now that Halloween is all done and dusted, I’m getting ready for Christmas… and just in time I have a special offer to share with you – only I’m introducing it with a personal twist. Back in the summer my man gave me one of the loveliest gifts I’ve ever had. It was a photobook with photos and captions for all of the places we’d been since we met. I cried… and I love it more than anything. Because it was so personal it means the world to me.*

If Simon Cowell got in touch with a list of the UK’s top 50 wedding bands, I’d be less than impressed. He’s no expert on music if you ask me… just a very shrewd businessman. When I see a list of ‘the top 50‘ or ‘the UK’s best‘ I’ll sit up and pay attention if it’s compiled by an expert. Otherwise, I’m at best disinterested and at worst alarmingly cynical about these sorts of things.

Who knows who’s best?

I was included in a list of ‘the UK’s top 25 wedding bloggers‘ back in July. Nice to be noticed, I guess. I wonder how GoHen compiled the list – from Google? or by looking on UKWed.com maybe.

A list of wedding bloggers is harmless. But a little while later I noticed they’d published a list of the top 50 UK wedding photographers (here). Uh-oh… The article is written by GoHen – “the dedicated hen weekends division of StagWeb – the event specialists, established in 2001”. Their ‘about’ page gives no mention of any expertise in wedding photography.
