Jonathan and Jessica’s family is the most talented ever seen on a wedding blog. The details of their day are pretty amazing – and I eagerly read Jess’s questionnaire to see where they bought their fabulous stationery (her brother made it) and stunning cakes (Jonathan’s dad). Wow.

Hey everyone! How is your day going? It’s blustery here but there’s sunshine peeking through at last! I’m working hard on some Christmas and New Year features and I’d like to write a post about wedding trends for 2015… and I really need your help!

If you’re planning a 2015 wedding, I’d love to know your ideas for styling the day. Will boho still be a massive theme for next year? Garden weddings? Are you embracing nature with a rustic theme?

Wedding suppliers I’d love to share your predictions for 2015 as well. Do you have new collections for next year? If you’d care to share a comment about the trends and styles you think will be huge in 2015, then I’ll publish as many as I can on the English Wedding Blog – along with links to your websites (where relevant) too.

It’s fascinating to see winter through the eyes of a photographer: today we’re talking about nature’s palettes and early sunsets – and you won’t want to miss this post if you’re having a winter wedding. There are practical considerations I’d never have thought of – as well as some lovely ideas (perfect excuse for a cashmere shawl?!) which will make your winter wedding everything it should be.

good winter wedding photographer UK Sue Kwiatkowska (2)

As a wedding blogger I see a ton of photography from weddings throughout the year. I also see the very best – and the very worst – photography. Some photographers can’t cope with winter weddings – and that’s a fact. My personal advice is to choose your photographer very carefully. Find someone (like today’s feature writer Sue) who can shoot in low light, without ruining your photos with flash, and who can capture the atmosphere of your winter wedding.

If finding a good wedding photographer is important for summer, it’s super essential for winter – trust me.

No? Good. Because you’re about to read an article which flies in the face of everything you’ve ever been told about your wedding colours having to match. They don’t. In fact, the more variation you have in the colours of your wedding styling, the better!

Holly and Paul’s rainbow of colour wedding style – I love this! Image credit Tracy Morter Photography (click to see the full wedding)

Back when I started out in the wedding business – and that makes me sound reeeally old, but it was less than 10 years ago – everything had to match. If a wedding was purple, it had to be Cadbury. Or royal. Or lavender. You’d never dream of using two slightly different purples – or at least, you’d never see such a travesty in the wedding magazines.

We used to joke on a wedding forum about the best man’s socks matching the bridesmaid’s knickers… and while I’ve never known of a wedding going quite that far, colour matching was a real worry for some brides.

Karin and Dan’s outdoor wedding in Guernsey is light, and bright, and full of gorgeous flowers and DIY details. They had a beautifully decorated marquee for their wedding breakfast – filled with lovely hessian and lace, and the prettiest flowers. I adore all their carefully chosen details: rustic kraft cards, logs, raffia and rope – oh and the table numbers are just brilliant!

Karin wears the prettiest Suzanne Neville dress, which she bought from The Bridal Boutique in Leeds. She has high praise for the boutique (always wonderful to hear!) and – once again this week – wishes she could wear her dress all the time! Doesn’t she look stunning?

It’s movie time! Hannah and Joseph had a gorgeous, London-themed wedding with contemporary styling and beautiful details: I love so many things. The bouquet is divine; Hannah’s Claire Mischevani dress is exquisite; there are tube maps and big red buses, spectacular flowers and an impressive reception venue. Hannah’s also written a lovely wedding report for us and told me, “I know it is a massive cliche but our wedding day was the most incredible, memorable and happiest day of our lives. We couldn’t have wished for it to have been more perfect. With our closest friends and family l there to celebrate with us, it really was our perfect day.

Hannah and Joseph’s wedding film by HD Moments

The theme of the wedding was ‘London’. We had iconic London image themes throughout the day, tube map table plans, London buses to transport the guests from church to venue and oyster card holders as favours and of course it was based in London.

I almost pinch myself whenever I see Gemma and Gordon’s wedding photos – they’re just so incredibly beautiful. And what an amazing venue – Finchcocks Musical Museum is as cool as it sounds and then some. Gemma told me their theatrical wedding venue had “old style pianos everywhere, amazing walled garden and wild gardens, high ceilings and wooden floors…” and the images show musical ephemera everywhere – just. wow.

I adore Gemma’s dress, her hair and her pretty bouquet. The images of today’s gorgeous bride in a disused room at the venue are eerily beautiful – you’ll love them.

There are so many little nooks and crannies around Finchcocks for beautiful photos, and I owe huge thanks to Steven from Duntons Photography for sharing so many of those with us today. Please do look at his website, Kent brides and grooms especially!

I have a little treat for you all this fine Sunday morning – one of the loveliest real weddings I’ve seen in a while, with touches of old Hollywood glamour and exquisite photography at  Norfolk’s magnificent Narborough Hall Gardens.

Old Hollywood glamour Narborough Hall wedding by Rob Dodsworth (6)

Laura is beautiful; a glamorous, graceful bride. Her perfect partner is Simon, every bit the movie hero to Laura’s romantic heroine. And they really do have it all: a fabulous wedding, superbly styled with love and laughter in every one of their beautiful images. My personal highlight? Laura’s advice to think back to other weddings and decide from there what’s most important; also, to keep an open mind when you go dress shopping. Believe it or not, this stunning Sassi Holford dress wasn’t the kind of style Laura had in mind at first!

Hey everyone, happy Saturday morning! I hope you have a lovely weekend planned. Remember Small Business Saturday is today so please do everything you can to support independent sellers near you over the weekend. We’ll love you for it! If you’re still thinking about wedding dress shopping may I suggest you take a moment to explore something really different? I know so many of you are looking for a different look for your day, and I think I might just have the answer!

Sally Lacock bridal separates collection on the English Wedding Blog (10)

Sally Lacock has had wonderful success with her wedding dress collections, featuring on top blogs like Love My Dress and Style Me Pretty. I was thrilled to hear Sally has launched a new range of effortlessly chic, utterly covetable bridal separates. They still have that delicately subtle vintage look of Sally Lacock’s other collections, but bring an exciting and thoroughly modern approach to bridal styling. The collection features interchangeable tops and skirts designed to be combined in a myriad of ways. Sally has created a diversity of looks and silhouettes to give those of you who don’t want a traditional dress another, truly stunning, wedding day look.

Samantha and Edward’s wedding is just gorgeous. Samantha describes their style as ‘traditional country chic’ – the perfect label for a deliciously done, classic English wedding.

They married in the summer, choosing delicate pastel colours and focusing on beautiful flowers in their wedding theme. I love Samantha’s advice about ‘the little things’ – she told me it’s the people, the food and the music which matter most of all. I love her comment about her Stewart Parvin dress though: “It was amazing and I wish I could wear it all the time.” She looks incredible. (And hey, why not wear it again? I would!)

Happy Thursday lovelies! How are you this crisp December morning? It’s a special day (my parents’ wedding anniversary – happy anniversary!!!) and I’m celebrating with a really magical wedding on the blog – I think you’ll love it. I love weddings which are stripped bare of fluff and which focus on the true meaning and reason for the day of celebration.

An intimate wedding by the beach with Chris Randle Photography Durham UK (15)

Don’t get me wrong: I’m a lover of fluff… but I adore romance and I sort of think it’s a responsibility of wedding bloggers not to get too carried away. Today’s wedding is everything it needs to be; I’ve said many times here that intimate weddings are my favourites. All you need is each other – and the smiles on beautiful bride Natasha and her hubby Gareth’s faces are testament to that.

An intimate wedding by the beach with Chris Randle Photography Durham UK (19)

Durham wedding photographer Chris Randle got in touch and I had a proper nosey around his blog – so this wedding is one I chose for an English Wedding Blog feature. It’s beautiful, romantic, and special. I feel so lucky that Chris was there as Natasha and Gareth’s photographer: being able to feature intimate weddings with beautiful photography is such a privilege for any wedding blogger.

I could just hug today’s gorgeous bride and groom for using so many local suppliers for their wedding day. With small business Saturday coming up in just a few days’ time this is a wonderful reminder of how amazing a wedding can be if you use the best local suppliers for your day.

Wedding at Yorkshire Sculpture Park by Maryanne Scott Photography (14)

I loved hearing how magical it felt for Becky and Neil to see all of their friends and family gathered for the ceremony, and their memories of the wedding readings, which meant such a lot to them. Reading their wedding report really brings home the personal nature of every wedding, and this is what makes every single wedding special for me: it’s not about the details (although I’m a big believer in details, don’t get me wrong!) but about having the best time of your lives with everyone you love.
