Today’s beautiful bride Anouska is an interior designer, and so the styling and details of this winter wonderland wedding are so carefully considered and coordinated… it’s truly magical. From the flowers to the little birds, trees and fairy lights, every little aspect is so personal and charming… winter brides will LOVE seeing today’s wedding.

“I had white, blush pink bouquet with crystals and white thistles. Peonies are my favourite flowers and were out of season, so Sue and Lucy sourced me the most stunning fake silk peonies and added them to my bouquet – nobody knew as they were so realistic and what’s lovely is that I get to keep them forever.”

Anouska and Greig’s advice for other couples is something I would emphasise to every bride- and groom-to-be: “Cut down your numbers and spend the money making the day extra special for yourselves and the people you love the most. Put your own stamp on the day – it should be a reflection of who you are and what you love.”

I found my way into the world of weddings via my penchant for old pens, bottles of ink and love of everything papery. Who knew my love for beautiful lettering would bring me to the pages of the English Wedding Blog, and be my introduction to such a creative and exciting industry? Ten years since the launch of Calligraphy for Weddings, I stumble across my lettering on some of the hottest wedding blogs in the world – and I love working on every single commission and project I’m asked to be a part of.

I’m currently obsessed by the fabulous Taylor & Porter – whose visual storytelling is some of the most exquisite I’ve ever seen. Creating stationery for their styled shoots in 2015 was one of my business highlights of all time; I can only dream of writing more for the attention of their loveliest of lenses in the coming months.

If you don’t remember seeing Amanda Karen’s gorgeous shoots on the blog, I should really remind you to check them out… they were some of my highlights in 2015. Getting to know Amanda Karen Photography has been lovely: images are always out of this world, and Amanda is truly lovely – so I’m thrilled to say they’ve joined my little group of handpicked sponsors of the English Wedding Blog. Amanda & James – welcome!

Amanda Karen Photography was born out of a love for photography and weddings, especially after our own wedding in 2013!  It’s truly the best job in the world, to capture people in love declaring that to their nearest and dearest, and to do that alongside my own husband is even better.  The beauty of being a husband and wife team is that we can relate to just how our couples are feeling, the anticipation, the excitement, the fact that the day goes by in one romantic whirlwind, it’s an amazing and emotional day for all involved.  I love it!

Katie and Sam’s November wedding is traditional, elegant and still has the loveliest home made touches: the gorgeous couple married at Sussex favourite Pangdean Barn. From Katie’s veil to the place settings, every detail came together perfectly – and I’m thrilled for lovely Katie and Sam (who I got to know in the run up to their big day) that it turned out so beautifully.

I had the pleasure of working with Jane at Flowers & Daughters. She was fantastic as I only had a very vague idea of what I wanted, and being November, there were only a limited selection of flowers available. But she pulled out all of the stops and our flowers were brilliant. The colours worked so well with the venue as well as the bridesmaid’s dresses, and we had so many comments throughout the day on them. They were perfect.”

Gemma and Joe had one of those country weddings which look effortlessly beautiful… the flowers and venue styling work seamlessly together, and the atmosphere is of celebration in a relaxed setting surrounded by a wonderful family. I adore their day, from the most heart-melting moments to the finer details. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

Special touches include some fabulous ideas: “We hired a vintage sports car for the weekend, which Joe and his brother enjoyed the morning of the wedding.  We then drove ourselves to the reception venue and enjoyed some time-out together and we also put it to good use the day after the wedding, driving to the coast, where we sat on the beach and reminisced about the amazing day we had

Sometimes the images of a day just speak for themselves… “We raced to the computer, watched the beautiful slideshow and spent the rest of the afternoon sobbing! Needless to say we were quite emotional about the whole thing. The next day we went through a vast quantity of tea whilst going back through them, and we’re still just as blown away.”

Today’s is a wonderfully personal wedding, and I love it all the more for being so special to everyone there. “We wanted to enhance the homely feel with personal items and everyday objects from our home. Both our families are hugely important to us, which is something we really wanted to celebrate through our wedding day, so we surrounded ourselves with tons of family photos in every room.”

I’ve had lots of applications for blog sponsorship recently and I have to say a HUGE thank you to all of the amazing suppliers who support the English Wedding Blog. I find myself explaining to every potential sponsor the benefits of joining us – and I thought it would interest a lot of the wedding suppliers who read the blog if I published those benefits in a blog post.

We do things a little differently here. Blog sponsorship is most effective when your work is published often… so joining our little team of handpicked sponsors means you’re regularly a front page feature on the English Wedding Blog.

Every English Wedding Blog sponsor gets:

  1. An introductory feature post when you join
  2. A banner advert on every page of the blog
  3. An optimised, dedicated page with photos, introductory text, even videos
  4. A listing on my recommended suppliers page
  5. Priority features. Submit a real wedding or styled shoot; I’ll publish it fast
  6. Regular front page news, events and offers

Good morning, beautiful! I’d like to share something a little different with you this morning, if I may? This stunning styled boho shoot comes from gorgeous Gawsworth Hall in Cheshire, and from wedding photographers Boho Lane.

The snowy grounds are gorgeous; the styling creative, alternative and fresh. I adore dried flowers, especially for a winter wedding – and the grasses and lavender are just divine. I also LOVE seeing couples in non-traditional outfits… so the boho dress, faux fur coat and our groom’s more casual look are pretty damn perfect for me.

Boho Lane is a new business launching on Friday, with two established photographers joining forces to create something which promises to be pretty awesome. For details on the launch party see the poster at the end of today’s feature!

Wedding flowers have changed – I could dive into a bouquet these days and live there for a week: the organic and creative florals I see on blogs are out of this world.

My most recent discovery is the fabulous Forage & Blossom – and I asked lovely Alice to tell us a little about her world. It’s all kinds of enchanting…

Forage and Blossom by name and by nature.

I’m Alice, the founder of Forage and Blossom Flowers. I am a floral designer with an artistic background inspired by all things organic, off-beat and botany based.

My designs are influenced by the wild forms of the natural world and I like to bring in depth with scent, foliage and texture. I love to embrace the natural kinks and flairs of flowers and allow the blooms to flaunt themselves. If a flower has a particularly weird bend in its stem, its a definite keeper! I enjoy creating designs with natural fluidity and movement; each arrangement is as unique as the flowers within it.

It’s one of those days where outside just isn’t an option so instead of my usual run on the beach I’m snuggled at my desk dreaming of cosy log fires and gorgeous winter weddings… which is kind of lovely!

Today I have a lovely luxe shoot from Cotswolds venue Wyck Hill House to share with you. The details are divine and the setting just so luxurious you’ll wish you were there. Enjoy!Claire

Words: Amy Hay at Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa
Wyck Hill House is just beautiful during the winter months.  To sit and enjoy a warming drink in front of a roaring log fire, and look out over the crisp Cotswold countryside is really rather lovely! I wanted to capture a little of this magic in our shoot and create a setting for a truly stunning winter wedding.”

Candles and lots of them were the order of the day.  Paired with stunning floral arrangements and crystal candlebras, they created a gorgeous glow, off-setting the gold colours in our Adams Room.  We hoped to create a glamorous but very cosy and welcoming wedding breakfast room, which I hope was achieved.

A wedding dress should be, first and foremost, YOU. It should fit like a glove and suit you perfectly, and you should feel like a million dollars. If that means a non-traditional dress, a designer number or even something floaty you’ve made at home, that’s fine by me. I like dresses which are different… ones which make a beautiful statement. Today’s wedding dress of the week is new from Luella’s Bridal: this is “Nuria”.

The collection from Luella’s Bridal (which I’ll be sharing more of in coming weeks) can be described as “Modern Bohemian with a British Victoriana influence” and has been designed in partnership with British Wedding Dress Designer Charlotte Casadejus.

Lottie and Richard’s has to be one of the coolest, brightest, most exciting DIY weddings I’ve ever published – truly, they used ALL the colours… and it looks amazing. They’re a gorgeous couple, their images are superb, and something tells me you’re going to adore their wedding as much as I do!

There was plenty of DIY involved in the run up to the day, and Lottie told me “This was by far the main focus of our wedding preparation. I love arts and crafts.” Some of those makes include 500 origami birds, “which was a challenge!” and a 200-strong multi-coloured paper lantern display in the centre of the marquee.

I can’t show you the wedding without first mentioning the gloriously colourful flowers – they’re just wonderful! Lottie told me “Roseanne’s Florist in Malvern did a fantastic job–they made beautiful multi-coloured arrangements in mixed vases and jam jars. I specifically said there were no rules on colours or flowers, and the result was incredible. It made you smile.”Claire
