Somerley Estate sits right on the Dorset and Hampshire borders and is the stunning backdrop for this inspiration shoot.  A privately owned home and wedding venue, the house was designed in 1750 and has been in the Normanton family for five generations.  Somerley is gorgeous, (very) grand and has a lot of history.  With this shoot I wanted to bring a little piece of understated contemporary style to blend with the traditional luxury surroundings.

Alex & Laura’s wedding is in the most amazing ‘venue’ – if we can describe a 19th century transatlantic steamship as a wedding venue! I love their creativity in choosing a space which really sets the scene for a memorable and adventurous wedding day. This is all so gorgeous: Laura is stunning in a shorter length dress and the nighttime photos taken after their reception are wonderfully unique and exciting!

Canals have a romance all of their very own, don’t you think? If you’ve ever strolled along a canal before sunset you’ll know how wonderfully tranquil those towpaths can be. The adventure of drifting through England’s hidden waterways is one I dream of experiencing, one day. So Heather and Michael’s day has my heart: their photos by the locks are beautiful; their tipi reception is full of character and quaint old English charm – it’s perfect.

Let’s face it, a wedding day is a LOOONG day – for both members of the bridal party and the guests too! Whilst you’re enjoying having pictures together, don’t forget your friends and family who’ll be waiting for you – keep them occupied with one (or a few) of these ideas!

Caswell House in Oxford was the perfect venue – it’s a beautiful venue with lots of areas for photos. The team at Caswell are incredible, they made every effort on the day to make it special, including bringing canapés during the photos!
