David and I have always enjoyed about 5 cups of tea a day (give or take depending on what kid of day it is!), and have my own nice little collection of vintage tea cups and pots, so when I heard there was a real teahouse opening in Middlesbrough I was one of the first ones through the door! I knew Carli, who owns and runs The Olde Young Teahouse, as she is David’s friend’s girlfriend, and we found ourselves visiting her shop to try as many of her different teas as possible.

Carli's Teahouse

It’s such a beautiful place, vintage style wallpaper, teacups, teapots, vintage crockery and French bistro style tables and chairs. I started chatting to her about ideas for my wedding, and, after sampling so many, said that it would be such a nice idea to have a selection of teas (along with coffee) to serve after the meal, and to serve them using her beautiful collection of cups and saucers. It just seemed so British to really honour how much everyone seems to love a good cup of tea! Carli jumped on the idea and pretty soon we were sorting out how to make it work and which teas to serve.

Wedding planner Aimee Dunne got in touch with me to share her wedding photos, and I had to know more. What’s it like for a professional wedding planner to organise her own wedding?

All photography is by Andy Catterall, who is based in London.

The wedding of a wedding planner

I asked Aimee about her own wedding planning experiences, and you can read her story between the gorgeous wedding photos below.

What was the first thing you booked for your wedding?

The venue. This was the most important thing to us and I feel this largely dictates the rest of the feel / theme of the wedding so we wanted this organised as early as possible. I wanted somewhere in the real English countryside, naturally beautiful, and somewhere guests would feel like they were escaping to.

Bride and groom kissing with cloudy sky

So beautiful... English summer wedding with cloudy skies

English weddings… Yorkshire… summertime… I think I went all summer without mentioning the rain, but let’s face it here in the UK we do get the odd shower, we love to talk about the weather and we can always make the most of things.

This wonderful wedding from Tierney Photography has a few umbrellas and hundreds of huge smiles – I love everything about it!
