I love the very individual approach Becky and Graham took with their wedding. There was no dress; no theme, and the day was planned in three months. And you know what? It’s beautiful. Truly. Becky wears a gorgeous blouse and skirt; Graham’s in Converse. They styled an intimate and very personal wedding with close friends and family, and I love it. I hope you will too!

Our wedding report: Becky and Graham

Wedding photographer’s website:

Jackie King, http://www.peonybrides.com/

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

We were delighted with the photos. Jackie was a pleasure to have with us on the big day – very unassuming and hard working and she delivered a beautiful collection of photographed capturing the whole experience.

Wedding venue:

Appleton Church

Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?

A low-key country wedding with wild flowers, Italian food, close friends and family.

Eeeek! Here’s an exciting wedding for you to see – it’s in a windmill! Tuxford windmill is the last working windmill in Nottinghamshire, and had never been used as a wedding venue before. Today’s fabulous, wonderful, amazing couple Rebecca and Sam wanted to do something new, and so they chose this awesome location for their reception.

windmill wedding UK (1)

They made the very most of the windmill for their wedding reception after getting married at East Markham parish church. After the church service, the happy couple hopped on the back of a tractor and headed for their windmill – I love saying that! – for the reception…

Sam and Rebecca used local produce including the windmill’s own products – check out the wedding favours, for example. They used beautiful bright colours to decorate a marquee by the windmill, with the loveliest bunting, mismatched vintage china plates and glorious summer flowers.

Tim and Jummy’s Kent wedding is gorgeous… they describe it as a festival of colour and it really is! The beautiful bride’s bouquet is the brightest of yellows, there are sunny accents throughout, and Jummy told me that rather than sticking to a particular colour she knew their Nigerian relatives would bring bright colours to the day so they chose to embrace that with colourful and eclectic styling!

festival wedding in Kent blog (1)

I smiled to read Jummy’s tip about the ‘magical spreadsheet’ they used to plan their day – in itself becoming a family heirloom as every engaged couple finds it invaluable! Another top tip I love this couple for is their advice to use local suppliers as much as possible. Supporting independent businesses is important, especially when it comes to weddings.  The flowers, cake and catering were just some of the highlights of a magical day.

I shared a comment from today’s bride Sam on facebook a couple of weeks ago – I absolutely couldn’t resist: I love a good love story, don’t you?! Back in 2006 Sam was travelling with a friend in New Zealand, and happened to meet Huw there. When her friend returned home, Sam told me “I decided to stay and spent three of the most amazing months of my life travelling around New Zealand with a man I had just met – I think my friends and family thought I was slightly crazy!” Luckily Huw was from England and lived only half an hour away from Sam… and they stayed together and were married a few years later.

English country wedding blog (1)

Did I mention their wedding is beeeaautiful?! Sam’s mum made her wedding dress; Sam made all of their gorgeous stationery; and – possibly the best story of all – Sam’s dad went to bead jewellery-making classes, learned how to make a headpiece and made Sam and her bridesmaids beautiful hair accessories for the big day!

The elegance of Deborah and Darren’s wedding is striking, the style exquisite. Today’s beautiful bride and handsome groom created a wedding day which was both luxurious and personal: when I read their wedding report I was blown away – they’ve provided the best list of suppliers (so any Warwickshire brides and grooms should really check this out!) – but my favourite part was this:

vintage art gallery wedding blog (1)

“Bride’s wedding transport – Jaguar Mk II from Banbury Wedding Cars
Groom’s wedding transport – 1966 VW Split Screen Camper van (Groom’s own)”

How adorable is the face on that little camper? Hehe. Of course there’s far more to this vintage art gallery wedding than the cars – Deborah is stunningly beautiful in her Anoushka G lace back dress. The couple’s son and daughter – only 7 and 4 – were the stars of the show, playing a really important part in the ceremony and bringing tears to the eyes of wedding guests. Do read the wedding report at the end of the feature, you will love it!

How many couples incorporate elephant poo into their big day, I wonder?! Today’s gorgeous couple Rebecca and Tom did just that… you’ll have to read their wedding report after the images to find out how! This is a wonderful wedding I know you’ll love… Rebecca had her wedding dress made for her by a specialist dressmaker, and it’s exquisite!

tipi wedding JTJ Photography (1)

I love how they made their wedding day very personal, welcoming and friendly. The tipis are fab (aren’t they always?!) and other decoration is kept sweet and simple. Tom and Rebecca chose not to have a wedding cake, which makes perfect sense to me as a) they don’t have a sweet tooth and b) if you’re not cake fans it’s a good way to save money for other things!

tipi wedding JTJ Photography (2)

Oh! And today’s bride and groom are a down to earth couple whose wedding report makes me happy, especially this bit:

What’s the best thing about being married?

That our relationship is exactly the same as it was before we were married!

Laugh as plans fall apart and the chaos unfolds – that’s what the memories are made of!” Today’s beautiful bride Wendy is an absolute star for sharing this advice. To look at the gorgeous images of David and Wendy’s wedding you’d never imagine that anything went wrong! Blue skies, fabulous tepees, a relaxed wedding full of smiles and laughter… it looks absolutely perfect. And I suppose that’s the lesson… that no matter what else happens on your wedding day, so long as you’re married the rest is just there to be enjoyed. Smile and keep smiling… and your memories will be amazing no matter what!

Yorkshire wedding blog (1)

There are ideas aplenty here, from Wendy’s simple and graceful one-shoulder wedding dress to the classic rose bouquet, the warming tepees and festival vibe, archways of foliage and bunting lining the tepee roof… it’s just lovely, romantic and magical. Kingston Maurward wedding

This is just wonderful! An outdoor wedding in the Dorset sunshine, with a beautiful bride and gorgeous groom and some inspiring details for styling and DIY. I think the theme of Alex and Jonny’s wedding is wonderful: there’s a little of everything from paper poms to vintage books, a fingerprint tree (or is it a hot air balloon in the style of Up?!) and some of the prettiest wedding flowers I’ve ever seen. Wow. Images are by the lovely Howard Lucas Photography

The cream teas look delicious. The lawn games look like so much fun! Photographer Howard Lucas says “after drinks and canapés at Kingston Maurward the bridal party continued onto Herrison Hall in Charlton Down, an absolute gem of a place and a relatively last minute decision. This was the most handsome of settings for guests to enjoy a traditional cream tea and games on the lawn before taking their seats in the carefully set and delightfully depicted reception.

Rachel and Jonathan’s wedding photos are guaranteed to make you smile! They’ll also give you plenty of ideas for styling your own day. I loved this wedding as soon as I saw it and I was so pleased Pixies in the Cellar submitted the images for an English Wedding Blog feature. I know you’ll love it too!

Wentbridge House wedding blog (1)For a Yorkshire wedding, there are certainly many more kilts than I’d usually expect… but I’m certainly not complaining! Everything about the day – kilts included – looks fantastic. Rachel’s look is adorable (she wears a Justin Alexander dress with pearl accessories) and the flowers are just gorgeous!

My lovely friends Peter and Sara from Pixies in the Cellar wedding photography get a glowing review in the wedding report at the end of the feature, which makes me very happy! I’ll leave you in their very capable hands with the gorgeous images from this fabulous Wentbridge House wedding. Enjoy!

Oooh where to start?! Michelle and Marc are a cool couple whose vintage chic wedding with a modern twist has some fabulous details – stunning rustic country flowers, tweed and bow ties for the boys, a 1950’s styled bridal dress, with cornflower blue bridesmaids… oh it’s beautiful and there’s so much to tell! They married at Peover Golf Club in Cheshire, on the hottest day of last year – and their wedding photos tell such a magical story.

The beautiful bride and gorgeous groom chose Pixies in the Cellar to photograph their wedding. Peter and Sara – aka the Pixies! – told me, “We really enjoyed the whole day, Meesh and Marc had thought of everything for the day to run smoothly and for it to be very personal to them. What really shines through in the pictures is how much fun everyone had, it way just a great group of family and friends enjoying a great day with some very very summery weather!

Friday at last and I’m smiling for lots of reasons this morning! 1 – I get to see my gorgeous boyfriend in a few hours’ time yay! 2 – it’s going to be March tomorrow and that means spring! and 3 – I’ve got a beautiful sunny wedding to share with you all today, thanks to gorgeous bride and groom Amy and Matt, and to Dorset wedding photographer Howard Lucas.

Dorset wedding blog by Howard Lucas Photography (29)I’ve never seen a wedding with a steam train before… but I’d love to see more! The bride and groom, and all of the wedding guests, travelled by train from the church to the reception. I love it – what a charming way to make your wedding one to remember! Oh but there’s also Amy’s divine wedding dress, the bright and charming bouquet, and the countryside charm of the village hall wedding venue with bright paper lanterns… you will LOVE this! Enjoy.

Morning beautiful 🙂 How are you today? I have another gorgeous wedding to share with you today, this time from the Dorset countryside and an adorable-looking wedding venue called Kingston Country Courtyard. If you’re having a barn wedding you will love this! Kingston has an 18th century stone barn with a bar attached… it sounds pretty perfect and looks amazing!

Rebecca is gorgeous in a silhouette lace wedding dress by La Sposa, and Andy looks great in a navy suit from Austin Reed. Oh, and the bridesmaids are as lovely as they are smiley… three ridiculously pretty girls in the lightest sage green dresses.

I hope you’ll get lots of ideas from today’s real wedding with rustic flowers, handmade bunting, a DIY Dad’s amazing cake stand and a delicious-looking naked cake with strawberries… you will LOVE this! Thanks to lovely Dorset wedding photographer Paul Underhill for sharing images of the day, and to the gorgeous bride and groom for such a fab wedding report. Everyone – enjoy!
