I’m almost tempted to tell the story of Lori and Tom’s wedding backwards… because I’m in love with this photo:

The only reason I’m telling the story from the beginning is that I’m just as excited to show you all of the other images of the day… today’s real wedding is full of surprises, beautiful touches and smiles from beginning to end. You’ll love it!

Lori and Tom were married in the summer, and seeing their wedding today is warming my heart – it’s a beautiful celebration for a gorgeous couple in one of the most magnificent venues our country has to offer: Studley Castle. The ceilings are spectacular; the setting is incredible and the atmosphere is spine tingling!

Lori’s dress was created for her from her own vision: she bought a strapless bridal gown and had a lace top made especially for her by a local bridal boutique – it looks fabulous and I love her approach to customising an off-the-peg wedding dress!

So I asked Lizzie and Paul if they could describe their wedding in 10 words or fewer… and their response was simply, “wow, this is hard”!… which made me smile. Their wedding is lovely, beautifully styled and full of gorgeous moments – there are too many to count.

Today’s incredibly beautiful bride and gorgeous groom were married in Derbyshire in August. They chose Callow Hall as their reception venue, and I’m thrilled to be able to feature their day on the English Wedding Blog.

Images are by lovely Simon Dewey Photography, who describes their day as “a treat. A lovely couple. A gorgeous dress. Traditional scottish attire. And some georgous light and landscape to capture it all in. Lizzie and Paul had exlusive use of the hall and grounds, a drinks reception in the secret garden, followed by a meal and dancing the night away with their guests in the marquee overlooking the Derbyshire landscape. It was a truly special occasion.”

It’s about time for a beautiful real English wedding, don’t you think? Today’s is one of the loveliest weddings of the summer and comes from a brand new London venue (for me, at least!) Hackney Brewery. Now… being a northern girl I do love a craft beer or two – and so this is a bit of a dream wedding for me! Today’s gorgeous bride Ananda described her summer wedding to Darren as a “beautiful & raucous DIY brewery knees up” which sounds as perfect as it looked!

Ananda told me, “We spent a lot of time making decorations and all the details of how we had decorated the venue were really personal… Claire [photographer Claire Gill] captured these beautifully, giving us not only a memory of the day but also the all the memories of the days we spent with our loved ones helping us create the perfect day.”

Rachel and Alex chose a select few exceptional suppliers to make their Cotswolds wedding day an incredible success. Their focus on fabulous food and cocktails is brilliant, and the styling of the day has blown me away.

The flowers tie in beautifully with this statement theme ‘The Hunt is Over‘ – which I love. Every detail is considered – and this is the work of some of the very, very best wedding suppliers (with not a homemade detail in sight). I adore today’s real wedding.

Huge thanks to beautiful bride Rachel and gorgeous groom Alex for sharing their wedding with us today. It’s such a favourite for me already – a wedding which could define 2015 for style and class and superb design… you’ll LOVE this!

Good morning lovely! Today we have the loveliest countryside wedding for you, with beautiful bride Victoria and her gorgeous groom Will. Theirs was such a warm, welcoming and relaxed country wedding – from the old English pub before the ceremony through to the (awesome!) dancing – and yes, we have the photos! – this is wonderful.

Victoria told me “It’s amazing how many hidden talents you’ll find amongst family and friends and everyone was so willing and keen to help which was brilliant & we really appreciated everyone’s input.” Her sister made the cake; a friend provided all of their wedding stationery and the table plan was brilliantly handcrafted by the bride’s cousin.

Images are by lovely Neil Walker Photography, who is based in Sussex. Neil explained about a little surprise Victoria’s father had in store… “In all my time as a Sussex wedding photographer I’ve never seen one before, but apparently it’s a Sussex tradition that the bride is pulled in a cart to the church by her father & then once she is married she is pulled away from the church by her new husband. Having spend some time getting ready and with her beautiful wedding dress on I was so impressed to see Vicky laugh and get into the cart.

Morning lovely blog readers! I have a special wedding for you today… a celebration which is 100% family orientated, from the beautiful Lake District, and photographed by a photographer I know very well indeed and can highly recommend: Simon Hudspeth from Durham. Simon is my brother in law, and it’s a rare treat to be able to share one of his weddings with you!

Real wedding in the Lake District by Simon Hudspeth Photography (23)

Today’s bride and groom are gorgeous Ann and Nic. They married at Patterdale Hall in a uniquely personal and perfect wedding day. Ann had her own best man instead of bridesmaids; there was a lot of lego in their theme; kids were a huge part of the ceremony and celebrations, and the paper bouquet made from comic books is as funky as it is fabulous!

Ann told me, “I think the best thing we did on the day was go off and have some photos taken while everyone was having the BBQ, we got a bit of time to ourselves, to have a chat and chill. We talked nonsense while Simon took some stunning pictures, and it didn’t feel quite so overwhelming for the rest of the day and no one even noticed we were missing!

There’s always a little nervous excitement when I receive a submission from the lovely Rob & Sarah Gillespie Photography. I know their images are outstanding, I know there’ll be an incredible selection to choose from, and I know I’ll want to show you every. single. one.

So I’ve struggled (happily!) to whittle today’s real wedding down from eighty photos to just sixty (still a lot!) and I’m beaming because I know you’ll love these so very much. Beautiful bride Sarah did: “I had the most incredible memories from my wedding day… what astounded me, when I saw my wedding photos for the first time, was how those memories had been so powerfully and perfectly brought to life. Those intimate, exclusive moments had been captured for us to share with whoever we wanted, it was a truly remarkable experience seeing them, leaving me in tears, for all the right reasons.

There’s too much pressure to DIY wedding details, and so I’m proud to be featuring a classic English wedding today where the bride and groom found local suppliers to style their day… and not a sewing needle in sight. Joe and Florence had the most perfect wedding – a big party for family and friends with elegant styling in a Yorkshire stately home.

Rise Hall wedding blog with Lorraine Claire Photography (8)

Rise Hall is a venue with a unique history, which I knew nothing about until I’d read Florence and Joe’s wedding blog interview. The Grade II listed building was a convent, then abandoned and eventually rescued by Sarah Beeny, and is now an exclusive use wedding venue (interestingly, they never hold weddings on two consecutive days, so you can set up and clear away without any pressure!)

Melissa Beattie was Lorraine’s second shooter on the day – she’s one of the loveliest and most talented people I’ve met in the wedding industry and you can find her here: www.melissabeattie.com

There’s a difference between homemade and handcrafted details on a wedding day… at least for me. Handcrafted is a level above the norm: it’s the inclusion of real craftsmanship and skill in designing and creating showcase pieces. For David and Frances, handcrafted elements like the slate table plan and place names made all the difference. I love their Fisherman’s Retreat wedding and I know you will too.

There’s a sense of artistry in today’s wedding, not only with the smaller details but with the imagery of this gorgeous couple’s day. Photographs are by my lovely friend Jamie at Vickerstaff Photography. I’m thrilled because Frances and David have given him the most amazing review – “The pictures were incredible. We laughed, cried and relived the whole day. Truly amazing pictures and we were so pleased as you never really know what you’re getting until you see the final product! We then sent the link to all our family who have all said how beautiful they are.”

I do love hearing stories from all of my brides and grooms whose special days feature on the English Wedding Blog. You’re all so amazing it’s unreal! The tips and advice you share have taught me pretty much all I know about wedding planning… and I know so many other couples are inspired by your words and images every single day.

Today it’s Charlotte and Chris whose beautiful wedding will be published on the pages of the English Wedding Blog. They’re a stunning couple whose words and images about their wedding will stay with me for a long time. I found it hard to select images because so many were just gorgeous. (Happy news: there are loads for you to scroll through! Yay!)

The same goes for tips and advice from the happy couple, but I do love this brilliant advice: “make sure you plan a special exit because otherwise it tails off and you just walk out which isn’t very special. We went for the classic running through the sparklers – it was lovely and everyone got to have fun playing with sparklers as we drove off.”

I’m not a weepy blogger… but it’s totally true that Laura and Rob’s interview for the English Wedding Blog brought a tear to my eye. They’re the most amazing couple: their images are as wonderful as the day they planned around the passions of their family and friends.

We have everything in today’s real wedding blog: a beautiful bride and gorgeous groom, fabulous photography and oodles of romance.

There are also, of course, the details we all love: country garden flowers, handcrafted details, wedding signs, miles of bunting and the prettiest dress and accessories you can imagine. All are captured in the romantic and whimsical style of lovely Rebecca from Wild Rose Photography.

There’s a minimum of fuss to Natalie and Tom’s West Sussex wedding – they chose elegant, understated details and they chose well. Their table plan is simple and contemporary; the flowers are modern and summery; venue styling is subtle and chic. I love everything about their day.

Barn weddings come in all shapes and flavours these days, and Natalie and Tom went for pretty pastel colours with a bright and seasonal style. The menu was veggie (which is awesome!) and guests had plenty of traditional games to keep them occupied after the meal.
