Today’s is a fabulously fun, colourful and creative wedding on a budget – Charlotte and Gareth were married at Fison Barn and wanted to keep their day informal and pretty without breaking the bank! Their ideas are lovely; Charlotte’s DIY tips and her English Wedding Interview are a great read. I love Charlotte’s honesty too: they tried making invitations but in the end, as it can be so time-consuming to do, they bought their invites online and focused on the craft projects they’d really enjoy. And the ones where Gareth spent a few days covered in glue… oops!

Like with everything in this wedding, our flowers had to be colourful and fun. I used  Richard Mathews, who offered a good deal and were friendly, I gave them sort of free range explaining my theme was colourful and fun.  He asked me to find examples of flowers I liked then he worked out something from those. I was so happy with them as he’d managed to put in fresh sweet pea flowers, a flower I had really wanted.

Today’s real wedding is stunning… I do love a good tree. Gorgeous bride Claire and her husband Miles were married in Henley, with the River Thames as the backdrop for their day. The ceremony venue is pretty, welcoming and light. And they enjoyed a boat trip with a proper English pub in the background – pretty much everything about the wedding is perfect for a blog feature!

Images are by Kevin Belson, who told me Greenlands, Henley Business School, is a spectacular wedding venue with its picturesque setting on the banks of the River Thames. The staff were amazing and the beautiful sunny day made it even better, with guests enjoying drinks and canapes on the riverbank by the dock while waiting for the bride and groom to arrive back on the boat.

“The main theme of our wedding was to make it as personalised as possible to us. We love cycling, especially through mountain ranges and a lot of our friends share this with us too. So we had a tandem there and the theme ran through all the stationery too.

Almost every morning you’ll find me on the beach, or in the hills gazing down at the estuary below the village where I live. I have a thing for beach weddings – they’re the most amazing thing ever! I love the portraits of Michael & Sara, especially the black & white images on the sand… they’re gorgeous and this is incredible!

Seaside wedding blog Grand Hotel Swanage with Emily & Steve photography (31)

Photographers Emily & Steve told me “The Grand Hotel in Swanage is perched right on a cliff with steps down to the beach! It was stunning and the perfect location for a summer wedding. It was the first wedding we’ve been to where the guests suddenly started to serenade the couple with ‘Love is all around’. They were all swaying their arms and really getting into it! It was so much fun!”

My dress was in the first shop I went to and I hadn’t ever seen a wedding dress similar to it. I liked the front with a bit of sparkle but fell in love with the back with the cowel back, buttons and train. I did go to another shop to have a look but there was nothing anywhere near as beautiful so rushed straight back to Village Brides to buy it.

Gorgeous bride Nazma told me her wedding to David was a multicultural fusion of love, family, friendship & everlasting memories. And you know what? I think this is one of the loveliest days I’ve had the pleasure of featuring on the English Wedding Blog! The colours, elegance and character of the day are stunning – this is a wedding to warm your soul and make you smile out loud. Enjoy – the English Wedding Blog is BEAUTIFUL today!

Fusion wedding at Warwick House Rob & Sarah Gillespie (24)

Warwick House is a dedicated wedding venue. The stunning layout meant that nothing really needs adding other than personal touches. The neutral colours meant that any colour theme can be incorporated at the venue without looking out of place.

We made the stationery ourselves – it was a combination of a labour of love and stress! Making wedding stationery can be a timely and patient process so I’d recommend only doing it if you’ve got the time and help from some crafty minded friends!

If I could take a polaroid of every bouquet we feature on the English Wedding Blog, and paper my little office & studio space with all of them it would just be soooo beautiful. Sometimes a gorgeous wedding inspires you to dream crazy things… but that’s ok, and I know we’re going to inspire you with some lovely ideas today. The flowers are only the beginning of this stunning day…

We wanted a wedding with a hint of vintage and a spring country feel. Most suppliers were recommended by Coombe Trenchard (marquee company, caterers, mobile bar). The band we sourced from Alive Network and Emma @ Freckle Photography was found by some extensive internet searching as photography was extremely important for us to get right!

I love Jo and Ed’s wedding for its elegant, relaxed styling and the timelessly beautiful images – they married in late spring and chose seasonal flowers alongside the loveliest little touches to flavour their day. The ceremony at Doddington Hall is incredible: the reception full of country charm. I love their homemade honey favours (their own bees… how lovely is that?!) and the pretty florals used throughout the day. Claire

“We hired the ‘Long Gallery’ at Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire, a beautiful room with huge paintings and a grand piano. It needed little decoration as its splendour spoke for itself. The room held 200 guests and created a long isle. We had a drinks reception in the coach house next to the main hall with an acoustic band within the walled gardens. Our reception was held at the family ostrich farm in Nottinghamshire, 20 minutes from Doddington Hall.

Anna & Stuart’s Norwich wedding is full of smiles, and fun, and the most amazing atmosphere – the styling of the day is wonderful (I do love kilts!) and I adore the table plan and overall look of the day. Anna is absolutely gorgeous; Stuart looks fabulous. This, my lovelies, is a super wedding and I just know you’ll love it!

Anna & Stuart are very calm people and always put concerns for other people, namely their guests as well as myself, at the forefront of their minds.

I think the fact that they had an ice cream cart waiting outside the church, so that guests could get refreshments whilst they waited for the group pics, and after having sat through the ceremony, spoke buckets. It meant that there weren’t any groups of people standing around wondering what they do next, before the reception started.

I have been so excited to show you Lydia and Rob’s wedding – there are some amazing ideas and beautiful images, and I love the venue with the lights strung across the ceiling, their portraits are fab, and there’s a gorgeous night time image of the two of them. The bouquet is pretty as well, with lovely shades of white and yellow for a fresh spring bouquet – fabulous.

So many things made this wedding special and memorable. The main thing was that even though the weather was pretty awful, nothing was going to stop them enjoying their day and having their photographs in the gardens and grounds. They’re such a funny couple and took everything in their stride. The planning had been easy and they were very chilled out about everything leading up to and on the day.

Today’s wedding is breathtaking – there are moments here when I forgot to breathe, the images are so beautiful! I love the elegance that runs through the whole day, the smiles, the black and white images, the little details and the spectacular venue Nick and Lucy chose for their Surrey wedding.

Woldingham School wedding photography by Greg Coltman, Essex on the English Wedding Blog (53)

“Our flowers were arranged by the lovely Lisa Jordan. We were really keen to stick to soft pastels to fit with our theme, so I went with pale pinks and ivory in my bouquet – sweet avalanche roses, ivory spray roses, ivory freesias and eucalyptus – whilst the bridesmaids had the same in just ivory. We bought all of the vases and mirror plates ourselves for the centre pieces as it worked out a little cheaper, then asked Lisa to arrange displays of white lilies, eucalyptus and grasses. We had pale blue sashes on the chairs so we kept the centre pieces neutral which looked really smart. The mother of the groom put together little posies for the pew ends at the church which we brought with us to the venue in little jam jars to decorate the bar area.”

Today’s is a wedding with breathtaking photography, a truly gorgeous bride and groom, beautiful details and the most amazing venue: “Guesten Hall at Avoncroft didn’t need much decoration as the roof is decoration enough and we didn’t want to take away from it.

“We added some small touches, such as photographs of various family members from key moments in their lives as well as amusing photos from our childhood and strung fairy lights across the hall to add a bit of sparkle.

We made a lot! All the name places were hand-stamped, and we cut out hundreds of hearts from wildflower paper for the wedding favours. We started the handmade elements at least a year before the wedding, so there was no last minute rush or panic.”

This morning lovely blog readers I have the prettiest real wedding for you – a gorgeous bride and groom and one of England’s most stunning venues – Hampton Court. You’ll adore this! Beautiful bride Joanne told me all about their day (don’t miss the full English Wedding Blog interview at the bottom of the post!)

Spring wedding in London Hampton Court Captured by Katrina (71)

“Our wedding style was a mixed bag – but oh so personal – and everyone commented on the personal touches. We used spring time blooms – lots of pastels and soft pinks and blush mixed with lime green to signify the start of spring and the start of a new adventure for Archie and I.

Given that I am from South Africa but decided to get married in the UK, we made sure that our wedding theme had lots of personal South African touches mixed in with English traditions. These included:

  • biltong snacks on our boat trip from our church to Kingston upon Thames down to Hampton Court.

I do love Emma & Alex’s wedding! The details are gorgeous, they’re just such a lovely couple, I love how simple and elegant Emma’s dress is… and right up to the last image of Emma on stage, it’s kept me smiling as I scrolled through all of their beautiful images. You’ll love it too… get your Pinning fingers ready, because the blog is bursting with gorgeous ideas today!

“Crafts & makes were my favourite part of wedding planning! I could not wait to start decorating and crafting! I sewed the bridesmaids gifts bags myself and filled them with goodies for the day and a little thank you gift. We collected and decorated champagne corks with ribbon and flowers for the tables as well as an assortment of glass jars for the flowers. I even made a post box for the cards. We raided my parents shed for old pieces of furniture and bits and bobs to create a big display in the marquee.
