I LOVE this wedding!! It’s wintry but not too Christmassy (which means I can happily publish it in spring!) and the bride and groom are gorgeous. I especially love Tom’s tweed suit and cap – and Katherine’s hair is sooooo beautiful. The little mice holding flowers are the icing on the cake… just wonderful.

Our wedding flowers by Hollyhocks Florist were beautful dark purple Calla Lilies, amnesia roses and gyp – looked amazing! It was Christmas so we had beautiful decorations for free! A floor to ceiling high Christmas tree, and miniature ones in the windows. We went for hessian bows on all the chairs. Our invitations, order of service and confetti were all homemade. They took a long time, but they were cheap and added some extra love to the day!

Hey lovelies! I’d like to share two things which make me happy with you today! The first is simple: sunflowers. Gorgeous, yellow petals full of summer colour – and they’re fabulous in buttonholes and bouquets, don’t you think? (DIY brides – you can plant sunflower seeds from March onwards!) Oh, and the second thing which makes me happy? A story of an affordable and still beautiful wedding. Joe and Gemma hired a village hall, made their own ‘wedding punch’ and used it as lovely centrepieces, hung bunting from the beams and celebrated in style without breaking the bank. Gemma’s dress is breathtaking… Their wedding was submitted by lovely Paul from Stylish Wedding Photography who told me a little about the day.

I know: festival-esque isn’t even a word (even if I try and make it look like one by adding a hyphen). But it perfectly describes the wonderful spirit and sense of fun in today’s glorious barn wedding – and I know you’ll get it when you see the fabulous photos telling the story of Helena and Chris’s wedding day.

I love Suzanne and Dan’s wedding – it’s relaxed, homemade, filled with DIY and the loveliest personal touches. It’s also at a winery… which ticks every box for me!

Wildflowers, DIY and the loveliest barn wedding venue for a relaxed summer wedding, with Alexa Poppe Photography (13)

“My mum did our flowers as she’s a horticulturalist and I knew that no-one could do them better. We had Cornish wildflowers in a blue, pink, lilac and white colour palette, and they were arranged in sweet little jam jars.

The venue was a converted barn with beautiful exposed bricks, so we just added lighting, bunting, flowers on the windowsills, and the table decorations. The whole venue and setting was very picturesque, so we didn’t want to gild the lily.

Today’s wedding is a blissfully sunny treat for your eyes… the images on the bridge are just so incredible, the light, the beautiful bride and groom – it has everything, it really does. I hope you love today’s wedding blog as much as I do – what a wonderful location with beautiful imagery!
