It’ll be spring very soon my lovelies… and then summer again, and we’ll be celebrating the gorgeous sunny days of weddings which make this little wedding blog’s heart sing! By the magic of the internet I have a beautiful June wedding to transport you right into summer this morning: gorgeous bride and groom Jo & Sam share their day…

The decoration was all low key, we hung lanterns in the marquee along with wooden hearts but we wanted to keep the decoration to a minimum. Elvey Farm has its own florist, a wonderful lady called Lesley Masters. I gave Lesley some rough ideas and asked for everything to appear natural like it had just been picked from the garden and she came up with the beautiful creations.

“I was delighted with the photography from our wedding. Fiona managed to capture the day perfectly and really reflected the country feel we tried to create. The candid photos of family and friends laughing during the speeches were wonderful.

I’m so excited to introduce you to someone altogether lovely and super inspirational today:  London wedding photographer Fiona Kelly is joining the English Wedding Blog’s little team of sponsors from today. Fiona – welcome!

Fiona Kelly London wedding photography (16)I have so much to show you: Fiona sent me a gorgeous selection of images to introduce us all to her photography, and I just know you’ll love them to bits. They’re the kind of images which stop me in my tracks: for how beautiful they are, for the lump-in-your-throat kind of moments they capture, and for the stunningly magical locations Fiona just seems to have an instinct for discovering.

“I have a few things on my wedding wish list and am happy to work up something special in terms of a photography package for a wedding that matches my wish list.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding somewhere amazingly scenic and beautiful (in a forest, on a mountain top, on a beach, in a flower field, amongst the ruins of a castle, I think you get the idea) then get in touch. I would love to hear from you and help to create some gorgeous images of your wedding day.”

I’m so excited for 2016 – with our book launch this morning and lots of exciting plans for features and adventures over the next few months I can’t wait to share with you! For now though, a new friend for us all: lovely Oxfordshire wedding photographer Carol Elizabeth has joined the English Wedding Blog as our latest sponsor.

Carol’s style of wedding photography is informal, natural and enjoyable but also unique to each couple. “I get to know my clients ahead of their day so that they are relaxed in front of the camera. I am based in Oxfordshire and love the range of beautiful venues in my home county – from stately homes to barns, old hotels to boat houses.”

I am more classical than contemporary or quirky, and a lot of the day is reportage photography of the day as it unfolds. I feel it’s important for the bride and groom to have some beautiful and natural portraits after the ceremony as well as plenty of informal images capturing the guests and venue.”

Sometimes you see an image which stays in your mind for the whole day. I get it all the time – looking at the fabulous yellow flowers from today’s real wedding I find myself feeling as though summer has barely begun! (Can you believe it’s November already?!)

Christine and Jon had the loveliest ceremony and romantic marquee reception in Nonington village, Kent – and you’ll love admiring their day on the blog. Here are a few of my favourite sneak peeks…

Remember how beautiful spring was this year? Alex and Peter’s Kent wedding captures the atmosphere of spring in an elegant little bubble… the delicate sunlight just seems to warm their day beautifully. I couldn’t resist sharing this incredible wedding with you today. The locations and images are out of this world.

Rochester Cathedral is a spectacular venue, and Alex’s dress is perfect for the occasion (although I have fallen in love with an image taken in the countryside a little later on…) She looks even more beautiful in the photos from the reception at the Barnyard at Gore Farm.

This is a wonderfully romantic Kent wedding venue we haven’t seen before on the English Wedding Blog, set in acres of orchards, paddocks and woodland. The marquee reception was bathed in natural light and provided a spellbinding backdrop for the wedding dinner, speeches and dancing late into the night.

Images are by lovely documentary photographer Benjamin Toms, who I hope you know well by now… but for those of you who don’t, Ben is a superb photographer and well worth discovering on his wedding photography website:

When I met with Kent wedding photographer Benjamin Toms in February I don’t think he realised how many feature articles we’d talked through… but I left the little coffee shop so full of ideas and advice to share with you, this is already the fifth in our little series!

What makes a wedding unique? Relationships and magical moments. with Benjamin Toms (5)

It’s a funny thing how every couple can feel pressured into having a ‘unique’ wedding… and the wedding media encourages brides and grooms to discover original suppliers, to craft personal and quirky décor, and to buy, design or make unique things.

Cue a bit of a revelation when Ben explained his perspective on exactly what makes a wedding unique. The answer wasn’t what I expected at all.

Could documentary wedding photography be the secret?

Documentary wedding photography is, as you probably know, telling the story of a wedding through emotions and moments. It’s not a factual timeline of your wedding, but a visual memory of the moments which will really let you relive your day for years to come.

Jessica and Sean’s wedding is traditional with a modern vintage twist – combining pretty pastels and soft floral arrangements with a classic cake, venue and wedding dress brings together this quintessentially English wedding beautifully.

They were married at Priory Hall, Hadleigh, in August last year and I just couldn’t resist sharing this wonderfully sunny, deliriously happy day with you all this morning. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

Jessica told me it was important to take time out and appreciate everyone’s company on the day: “all of the people you love in the world are under one roof for this one day – and they’re all there for you two – make the most of your time with them and don’t let anything stress you out“.

I had the absolute pleasure in February of meeting Kent wedding photographer Benjamin Toms (and his impeccably behaved black labrador Byron!) – and we talked and talked. Ben’s approach to wedding photography is inspiring. I only wish you could have been there to listen to him talk about the work he loves – and to learn, along with me, some wedding photography secrets! I wanted to reintroduce you to Ben today. He’s been a supporter of the English Wedding Blog for a long time and I adore his work – his photography is simply out of this world, and his dedication is second to none.

Ben and I will be collaborating on a series of articles over the next few months, all around the subject of documentary wedding photography (and a gorgeous excuse for me to share some of Ben’s wedding photographs with you lovely lot!) – but first of all I’d like to reintroduce you to Ben and his work:

Happy Wednesday everyone! Would you like some beautiful images to brighten your morning? Me too… and I have the perfect thing. I had a lovely chat with my friend and long term supporter of the English Wedding Blog the other day: the fabulous Benjamin Toms. Ben is a Kent wedding photographer who specialises in documentary photography.

Ben’s website has had a complete redesign and is looking fantastic. He’s been busy revamping the entire site which has relaunched with a gorgeous slideshow featuring tantalising peeks at some of his best wedding images. Ben’s beautiful brides and great-looking grooms are only the tip of the iceberg: I’m smiling to see the brilliant toastmaster in full flow, the guests clearly having the time of their lives, and everyone from flower girls to puppies taking centre stage!

As much as I love a bit of quirky, a dash of creativity and all kinds of unusual weddings, I don’t think timeless elegance and style can be beaten. Laura and Pete’s Stratford-upon-Avon wedding at The Welcombe Hotel is the perfect example.

Laura’s orchid bouquet is exquisite; their wedding cake is impressive; the venue full of character and tradition. They married at The Holy Trinity Church before their Welcombe Hotel reception.

Images are by wedding photographer Benjamin Toms, who says, “It was a beautiful sunny and chilly winter’s day, and the light was just perfect for the bridal portrait shots back in the grounds at the Welcombe Hotel. It was a fantastic day filled with emotion and such a pleasure to be part of.

Spend any amount of time on a US wedding blog and you’ll soon love the idea of a vineyard wedding. I see so many inspiration shoots and real weddings from vineyards – they’re always gorgeous, but just a wee bit unattainable for UK couples! Or so I thought… when I saw this beautiful wedding on Benjamin Toms‘ photography blog I had to share it with you. Fancy a vineyard wedding right here in the UK? Now you can. And here’s your photographer. Enjoy!

Ben said, “Chapel Down vineyard is a venue that I’ve wanted to work at for sometime and it did not disappoint. The guests had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful grounds on what was just the most perfect summer’s day before sitting down to enjoy an amazing wedding breakfast followed by great speeches. The evening’s entertainment was put on by the most amazing band I’ve ever seen. Gemma and Rudi came across them on a visit to the famous Ronnie Scott’s in London and convinced them to play at their wedding.”
