I’m smitten with Danielle and Christian’s wedding – their entire day is beautiful: from the tiniest details (the collar on Danielle’s dress; Christian’s buttonhole) to the big stuff; I adore ALL of the portraits of the two of them, and those amazing red leaves on the building opposite their venue… what a stunning collection of memories of a beautiful homespun English wedding!

My family were amazing and helped with quite a few things which saved us a lot. My nan made the invitations, place names and cupcake cases. My aunty made the cake and cupcakes. My uncle made the cake stand. The wooden box and hearts were bought on ebay for about £25, printed games were handmade by myself and my husband. The table plan I made myself.”

I had been to a couple of bridal shops and outlets and tried on some very beautiful dresses, but when I tried my dress on my mum cried and didn’t want to take it off, it was one of the easiest decisions I had made for our wedding. The service we received in the Bridal Rooms in Atherstone made it worth the extra cost, and they recommended a seamstress to do any alterations which was just round the corner from their shop. Also wonderful!”

Barn weddings are sooo lovely: the perfect blank canvas, history and character allowing you to blend in with a rustic theme or contrast beautifully with elegance and country charm. Today’s wedding is perfectly pretty and will inspire countryside brides and grooms everywhere! Enjoy 🙂

Real wedding at Maidens Barn Essex by Ayshea Goldberg Photography (11)

Maidens Barn is located in Essex countryside, it’s a rural location and is a hidden gem.  It’s surrounded by tranquil space and farmland.  Because it’s so secluded and peaceful, it gives the feel that there’s nothing else going on in the world on your wedding day – which is exactly how you should feel. It’s beautiful and has a wonderful courtyard which can be used as one of the many scenic backdrops too.

This wedding was just so pretty – I love vintage styles and Jess and James had brought in a styling company that specialise in vintage props.  Jess and James had carefully selected small accents and larger props that reflected what they wanted their wedding day to look like, and in the rustic barn setting it worked so well.

Sam and Amy’s wedding is a pretty, romantic and family-focused affair with the loveliest details and glorious images I know you’ll love! The flowers are out of this world…

Real wedding in Somerset photography by Jennifer Sinclair (19)

We didn’t have a theme as such…. Our key priority was having all the people there who we loved and who had looked out for us. Next it was making sure that we had really good food and drink. We both love cooking…and wine….as do our friends! We wanted our reception to feel like a big family meal, with our friends and family passing food around, chatting and enjoying. We went for a bit of an English-Italian fusion….. local Somerset Salami and buffalo mozzarella, Italian Parmesan, (local) Roast Beef and salads and our favourite wines that remind us of holidays.”

People ask me what I look for from a wedding submission for the blog…and this shot of a Laura’s bouquet is exactly the kind of image I LOVE… it sets the scene for one of the loveliest weddings I’ve seen all year. Bride Laura is gorgeous, Kris is ever so handsome, and the images capture the spirit of the day from the ceremony through to the dancing at the end of the night – and with so many glorious details in between. I’m thrilled to feature Kris and Laura’s wedding on the English Wedding Blog

We hadn’t really gone for a theme, we just wanted something quite informal (hence the non matching bridesmaid dresses). When I got my dress we worked the style and materials around that. Kris’s waistcoat had been worn by his step-dad at his wedding to Kris’s mum so we were thrilled to be offered that, and that helped set the colour scheme, and we live a very rural life in Wiltshire so it was natural to go for a sort of harvest festival feel with the wheat ears.

Nicola and Peter’s woodland wedding is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a blog feature. Plus the details are so wonderfully summery – it really is a dream wedding full of ideas for you to Pin, share, fall in love with and borrow for your own wedding day!

Their enchanting images are by Bristol wedding photographer Martin Dabek, who told me “the spirit of the wedding was great. I always like DIY weddings and this one was no exception. Great party and lovely couple. The venue was in a lovely and very secluded woodland location.”

Nicola’s dress is from Ghost – she looks incredible and I really love her relaxed and effortlessly elegant style. The flowers are from a Bristol wholesale flower market, with some grown by Peter’s mother, and they made the beautiful arrangements together. The venue was decorated with lots of greenery from the couple’s garden, bunting borrowed from and made by friends… and an amazing disco ball which looks fantastic in the woodland setting!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I have a properly, charmingly, adorably English wedding to share with you all! Tracey and Garry’s afternoon tea wedding caught my eye for their fabulous portraits, the bouquet, the vintage camper and how gorgeous they both look. I always say a great clue to how well a wedding will fit the blog is what the groom is wearing… and I love Garry’s smart but relaxed look. Tracey, of course, looks absolutely stunning.

We wanted a wedding that was personal to us and exactly how we wanted it so we saved so much money by doing everything ourselves instead of paying someone else to do it for us. We shopped around for all of the decorations for the hall, bought all of the crockery by scouring boot sales, charity shops and ebay, bought items from B&M which we then personalised, bought fresh flowers from a local market seller which a friend kindly turned into the church and table displays.

So this is an absolute stunner of a wedding… John and Lucy are sooo gorgeous and their wedding day is full of wonderful makes and beautiful details. I love it to bits and I hope you will too! Lucy’s dress is out of this world, the images are light and fresh and make me want to see more. The minimal styling is really refreshing – the Cambridge venues and emotions of the day really do say it all.

Lucy’s mum made her wedding dress… isn’t it fabulous? Other details were homemade as well, from stationery to flower arrangements and even props for the photo booth! “We sourced the flowers ourselves and my mum, sister and niece arranged them. We also used tealights, fairy lights, and created our own photo booth with some props and an instant camera. I really enjoyed designing our wedding stationery, and the photo booth was also a lot of fun – sourcing all the props etc.”

Aaron and Sarah’s wedding has wow factor: the locations around Consall Hall are simply breathtaking. Those trees... really, these are some of my favourite wedding pics so far this year. I love their day for its simplicity, rustic appeal and romance – and the beautiful bride and groom are just made for each other.

We chose a vintage/rustic theme as Aaron proposed after an afternoon tea (which we then chose to have as a wedding breakfast), and because we love the informal/relaxed style. We did a lot of the preparation ourselves, we made all of the stationery including invitations (huge saving!), and we kept things simple.”

I loved making all of the stationery, but then I am a perfectionist and I knew exactly what I wanted. One person we met with said that the design wasn’t possible in the size we wanted (A6). Luckily I am a crafty person, so determined to have what I wanted, I made it myself (and succeeded!)

Betty & Phil’s day stood out from others I covered last year as it seemed to be very simple in its delivery. The bride, the details, the location – all very classic, chic and English garden themed. From the Sassi Holford dress, to the idyllic thatched cottage B&B venue at the foothill of St Catherines chapel. The weather was perfect, the scene was stunning and the spirit of the couple and the people topped it all off.

I love Jen’s dress more every time I look at her… today’s bride and groom are such a fabulous couple, and their day seems to suit them so wonderfully well. I love the venue; the light-up-letters are a fabulous feature; the bouquet is dreamy… I’m so happy to have such an amazing wedding to show you this morning 🙂

If you ever needed proof that you can have a beautiful wedding, on a budget, and make it look even better than all the weddings you see on major wedding blogs – then beautiful bride Charlotte and her handsome groom Jay are here to show you a thing or two. Their wedding is sublime. The location is stunning, the details are gorgeous, and the images are out of this world…

I always look at the guy’s suits when I’m choosing weddings for the blog – and in this case, Jay’s shoes are pretty fab as well! Charlotte told me “We always wanted the men in something a bit different and wool like (especially seeing as though it was a winter wedding) and we just couldn’t find anything like this to hire, and didn’t have the budget to have something made just for Jay. In the end we ended up finding the perfect suit in Next and luckily we could get them all in everyone’s size.” I think they look great.

This morning’s lovely blog feature is for the craftily inclined and those of you looking to add a personal touch to your wedding day by incorporating a little DIY. Grab a friend, mum, or your other half and dive in to this morning’s step by step guide to making your own boutonnières.

diy wedding buttonhole silk flowers Pumpkin and Pye (10)

Huge thanks to lovely Natasha from Pumpkin & Pye for sharing her gorgeous boutonnière design with us – I adore the flowers, which go perfectly with the stunning rose and serenity bouquet project we featured a few weeks back. Natasha used gorgeous silk flowers from Afloral.com. The boutonnière is just the most adorable creation and looks so much fun to make. I hope you love it as much as I do!

You will need:

Select smaller flower heads, sprigs of foliage and any berries or small succulents you would like to use.

Step 1: Cut the stems of each flower/foliage to about 5cm or 2″ long.
