Today’s real wedding, my gorgeous blog-loving friends, is spectacular. If there was a bigger word for spectacular which included amazing, beautiful, creative, artisan, and elegant, I’d be using that word. But sometimes… beauty is too big for any word. Here’s our stunning bride, Jessica. She looks incredible, doesn’t she?!

Jessica married Matthew at one of our favourite venues, the fabulous Launcells Barton in Cornwall.

Newly launched as a wedding venue, it’s fast becoming a wedding blog favourite (with features on Rock My Wedding, Boho Weddings and of course the English Wedding Blog).

A true labour of love, Launcells Barton was a major restoration project for owners Lara and Matthew, who have turned this place into a dream venue for all kinds of weddings. It’s welcoming, a little rustic and wonderfully boho, and Jessica & Matthew’s wedding made the very best of every little bit of such a fabulous venue. Coastal wedding ideas in Cornwall with Andrea Kuehnis Photography (16)

To celebrate my birthday earlier this year we spent a week exploring the Cornish coast – fabulous sunsets, glorious beaches and dramatic scenery made it one of the most amazing holidays I’ve ever known. So today’s wedding inspiration has my heart (and a little of my calligraphy! Thank you Andrea!), and I hope you love it too!Claire

One of my most favorite places is Cornwall. I found myself stunned by the beauty, the wild coast, the cold water and the wild wind, and also the rain! Cornwall is inspiring, and popular with so many famous novelists who lost their hearts to its natural beauty.

Jade and Brad are both from Cornwall, met way back in school, were friends for so many years and finally started dating when they were 19 years old. Engaged for 6 years, they had to wait quite a while until they got married. During this time, their sweet daughter Orla (irish for Golden Princess) was born. They are both such a wonderful and energetic couple, loving life and so happy about their future lives together.

I love Leah & Brian: she’s absolutely gorgeous and wears her dress like it was made for her, and the beach portraits of them together are divine. They make the loveliest couple and have some really sweet details too: the little hearts on the wishing tree, the flowers (especially that lovely little fern leaf bouquet), and I really love the looks they exchange through the ceremony!

Beautiful English wedding blog St Austell with Freckle Photography (22)

The flowers are sublime: “I wanted a simple bouquet of cream roses with some greenery intertwined and around the edge, which is exactly what I had! For the bridesmaids I wanted something simple but very different from mine, a pop of colour to accentuate the navy! My mum, Hilary and my Aunt, Fliss, arranged the flowers themselves. They also knew exactly what flowers we needed to order, what would look great together, what would be in season, everything! They did such an incredible job! They also made the button holes which were simply wheat sheaths tied with a ribbon. Brian’s was made slightly differently with one of the roses from my bouquet inside his!”

I adore Natalie and Gary’s seaside wedding in Cornwall- the portraits on the beach are fabulous, I adore the light and the setting – and Natalie’s bouquet is stunning! So colourful 🙂 I think you’ll LOVE this so grab a cuppa and enjoy…

Natalie looks incredible in her wedding dress, and all the more so when you read her honest thoughts about dress shopping – I just LOVE the advice Natalie has shared in her English Wedding Blog interview.

I didn’t fall in love with my wedding dress until the day! All I can say is… What you think you want, probably won’t be what you go with! Be open to styles, trust those around you too. I must’ve tried on 70 dresses… I became dress blind… I was fed up… I was fussy…
It’s such a huuuuge thing, that every time I thought I’d found the one, I slept on it then hated it the next day. I was fixated on dresses with a high neck line, I didn’t want lots of detail and jewels, and I didn’t want to spend more than £1200…

In May I spent the loveliest birthday week down in Cornwall with my man. We walked the coastline, dined at Outlaws, explored magical villages and breathtaking landscapes… and I fell in love with Cornwall. But oh, it is such a long way from my part of the world!!

I would be thrilled to feature more Cornish weddings on the blog, so do get in touch if you’re marrying in those parts! In the meantime, I have news which you’ll love if you’re tying the knot in Cornwall.Claire

Boho brides, whimsical couples and lovers of the outdoors will know and love outdoor events company PapaKåta, who’ve featured many times on the English Wedding Blog. We love their tipis and gorgeous Sperry Tents. Rachael from PapaKåta has just been in touch to tell me all about Sperry Tents South West – a new venture making the luxury tents more widely available across the UK.

I love Sophia and George’s wedding – Sophia is SUCH a beautiful bride. The flowers are gorgeous, George’s suit is fantastic, I love their little slate place names… and the setting and outdoors images are out of this world.

Photographer Tracey Warbey told me it was a very emotional day: “there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Sophia walked down the aisle, she looked stunning.” And Sophia and George are thrilled with their images. They will be recommending their photographer and videographer to everyone they know: “An absolute investment!!!! Those are the two things I will encourage my friends who are getting married to invest in, the day comes and goes, but the memories last for ever, so ensure some one has captured them in the manner you envision.

I love Trevenna Barns. This was my second wedding there in five months. It provides a beautiful backdrop for any wedding, as it is set in the wonderful Cornish countryside. I like the fact that the wedding party can hire the whole venue as well – it makes it more personal I think.

I love a wedding with a story, and with something different and personal to the couple – and for beautiful bride Claire and her gorgeous husband Matt the stories are absolutely incredible – as amazing as the images of their day.

Rural Cornwall UK wedding blog with images by Alexa Poppe Photography (7)

The proposal is a story in itself: Matt was going to propose at the top of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania but Claire broke her foot and couldn’t go on holiday, so the best man went instead. “John videoed Matt proposing to me at the top. He later showed me the proposal and asked for my answer at the top of Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains – 5 months later – they both kept the secret well!

Their Cornwall wedding is absolutely beautiful: the hilltop theme continues with some of the most spectacular shots you can imagine – taken by lovely reportage photographer Alexa Poppe. Claire and Matt share some great advice with us in their interview below: to save money they say “Do as much as you can yourself. All of our church and table flowers were from the hedgerows or the garden and luckily we have some very talented flower arrangers as friends!

Morning lovely!! Do you mind if I distract you for a few minutes with rather a lot of wonderfully homemade wedding ideas? Good 🙂 Because Katherine and Ben’s wedding in Cornwall is about to knock your socks off… it’s so creative!

Now, wedding blogs are invariably the prettiest thing on the internet… but we’re not all about how weddings look. We like to share great advice and tips, and in today’s English Wedding Blog interview beautiful bride Katherine has some wise advice for other DIY brides and grooms: “A do it yourself wedding may seem cheaper than a hotel wedding, but remember that you will have to provide everything from tables and tablecloths to glasses and all of the drinks. The costs add up, so you have to be willing to shop around for the best deals and to spend the time organising every detail yourself!

That said… this is pretty awesome! Katherine’s Mum made unique invitations for every guest with pressed flowers. The DIY details on the day were fab: Katherine’s table plan, all of the jars and vases, the lanterns, pom poms, bunting and crochet were all home made with love.

Jake and Victoria are a cool, great-looking and stylish couple with infectious smiles and a sense of fun! Their October wedding is full of sunshine – and oh, those sunflowers are just delicious aren’t they?!

Wedding blog at The Green, Cornwall by Evolve Photography (18)

They married at The Green in Cornwall (on the edge of Bodmin moor) and took inspiration from country weddings and 1920s styling for their reception. It all looks fabulous. Special mention for the adorable cat table numbers (awwww!) and Victoria’s Dad’s help with the wellies and flowers which inspired their day.

Wedding blog at The Green, Cornwall by Evolve Photography (44)

My favourite touch for this wedding is the dress. So, so beautiful… and yet it wasn’t love at first sight for this one-off original vintage dress. Victoria told me at first “the dress was dirty, had a hole in it and the beading was falling off. But, it was a handmade original 1920s net dress with the most beautiful beading on it and that’s what I fell in love with…” Read the wedding report at the end of today’s post to find out how she managed to restore it so beautifully.

Today’s wedding in Cornwall is too delicious for words – Catherine and Paul’s day is all about laughter and love, friends and family, and a fabulous celebration which has me smiling goofily at the screen… so very beautiful, heart and soul 🙂

Jutta and Rob’s wedding in a rustic barn is relaxed, characterful and exciting. With plenty of DIY details and atmospheric photography by Barney Walters it really stands out from the crowd and I think it’s wonderful! Jutta wears a Phase Eight wedding dress, bought last minute – but she fell totally in love with it and looks stunning.

DIY country village wedding Barney Walters (1)The venue for the reception is a country farm barn which the bride and groom decorated to gorgeous effect with paper poms and a glitterball, long trestle tables and wooden chairs with hessian table runners.
