Vickerstaff Photography at The Place Hotel (16)
Knowing a wedding venue inside out, loving its features and being passionate about photography is what makes a wedding photographer very special indeed. Today’s wedding blog is the perfect example. Following on from yesterday’s glamorous Manchester bridal shoot, today we’re focusing on the delicious photography and super chic setting of The Place Hotel in Manchester.

Vickerstaff Photography at The Place Hotel (3)
I’d introduce Vickerstaff Photography myself, but I did that yesterday. So I’m using a great blog comment from last week instead:

I recently met Jamie at one of our monthly North West Photographer’s jaunts. Such an affable guy. I told him that I like his work. Have done for about 2 years but this was the first time he met me. This post just re-affirms my belief. The attention to the details. To story telling. To the formal portraiture. The quality of the finishing on the images… all top notch.” Read more… by Anurag Sharma

Place Hotel wedding photography (9)Recent Mondays on English Wedding Blog have been real treats. Today is no exception… for me it’s all about exquisite wedding photography. I’m sharing a glamorous bridal shoot from The Place Hotel in Manchester. There are wedding dresses from Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier’s 2013 collections, there are contemporary and elegant wedding flowers. The make up is perfect; the accessories chic and striking. The venue – is a dream.

Cheshire wedding photographers Vickerstaff Photography – or Jamie and Tory as you may know them if you follow English Wedding Blog here or on facebook – are making waves in wedding photography. A vibrant and creative team, they’re lovely people and the images you’re about to see are simply breathtaking.

However… I have my instructions to stop talking and to hand over to Tory to tell you about the shoot! So here you go – enjoy!

Jeni from Vanilla Rose Weddings sent me this lovely English wedding inspiration shoot for me to share with you all – and how could I resist?! English country garden is one wedding theme that never seems to date, and while so many couples are looking for a timeless look for their weddings I think it’s a wedding style which works every single time.

All the lovely photos are by Judi Checketts Photography. The venue for the shoot was the beautiful Merriscourt Galleries. The shoot was created by Jeni from Vanilla Rose Weddings, an Oxfordshire wedding planner. There are some fabulous wedding suppliers (based around Oxfordshire) involved in this shoot, and all of their details are below for you. Do click on their links to find out more! Over to Jeni…

English country garden – a wedding ideas shoot

I wanted to create an English Country Garden wedding in the heart of the Cotswolds for this photo shoot. The Merriscourt Gallery (located between the quintessentially English villages of Burford and Chipping Norton) has the perfect setting for an English wedding with simply stunning views, wonderfully friendly staff, and an array of spacious barns in which to create a dream wedding!

The launch of Love Bridal today is something for the wedding industry in the North West of England to really celebrate. While I’m now Norther and Wester than all of the photographers involved in the shoot, I’m still delighted that English Wedding Blog is playing a part in this launch: the way these guys work together is inspiring.

This is a fantastic showcase of the wedding dress designers at Love Bridal boutique:

  • Terry Fox
  • Mia Mia by Alan Hannah
  • Intuzuri
  • Heritage Collection by Balbier Wyatt

It’s also a great introduction to some of the best wedding photographers in the North and West of England. These guys work together and share ideas because they have such different styles and perspectives – who’d have thought wedding photography came in so many shapes and sizes!

We’ve seen all the beautiful images from 14 of the North West’s finest wedding photographers – I think it’s time for a story: let’s go from “Once upon a time…” to “this week we’re launching Love Bridal!”, shall we? Here’s Emma Draper to tell you all about the brand new Love Bridal boutique and her fabulous designer’s collections launching today.

by Emma Draper for Love Bridal boutique

Love Bridal Boutique has been born out of our passion for all things bridal! My own prior experience as Boutique Manager for a Manchester bridal boutique, coupled with my work as a bridal make-up artist and also as Studio Director within Jonny’s photography business too (yes we live and breathe all things bridal!) has given me invaluable knowledge about the wedding industry. Let’s just say that weddings are what we do and what makes us tick. So, given all our experience, Love Bridal is the very last piece of our lovely wedding jigsaw.

vintage inspired bridal accessories ideas (19)
I can’t tell you how much I’d love to be sat here with my laptop, wearing a few choice pieces of beautiful designer bridal jewellery as I type. Sometimes a wedding blog post feels like an occasion, and this is another one of those where I’d rather be dressed up before I start typing.

Still – it’s not about me. I write English Wedding Blog for all of you lovely people, and not just because I love it! Today’s blog post is all about wedding jewellery inspiration and comes from the lovely Trudie Arnold – designer at Tiaras by Trudie Arnold.

Trudie submitted this recent photo shoot which involved her bridal tiara and jewellery designs as well as an amazing vintage car from the Classic and Vintage Car company, 1930s Hollywood inspired hair and make up by Vivienne Moore, and a beautiful ivory lace wedding dress provided by Cloud 9 Bridal Wear in Surrey. Photographer Dean Whiting captured all the images.

I do love a loaded question! Opinions abound on creative shoots – wedding industry friends and peers getting together to have a day out, a picnic, and a bit of a laugh. Is that all it’s about? Of course not!

Do you, as a bride or groom-to-be, think creative shoots are useful, give ideas, entertain or provide good eye candy?

Or do you look at inspiration shoots on wedding blogs and in magazines and wonder why wedding photographers, dress designers, florists, cake designers, stationers and jewellers seem to spend all their time on creative shoots?

My thoughts on bridal inspiration shoots

I’ve heard lots of opinions on the subject of creative shoots. Engaged couples and industry insiders alike differ in their views. Some think creative shoots are a waste of time while others love the creativity they promote and explore.

Achieving the opulence of a rich gothic style for your wedding is a challenge; it’s a look which I’d have thought would need an extravagant wedding budget – gothic being indulgent, artistic and lush.
gothic wedding blog ideas shoot (23)
The great thing about English wedding venues is their history; finding a venue with a gothic style, ornate picture frames and decorative features means you’re already halfway there. And with a few special touches from creative wedding suppliers, you can create a gothic theme for your wedding without breaking the bank!

Laura from Perfect Choice Planning submitted this moody gothic wedding inspiration shoot for English Wedding Blog – along with words to introduce you to some fabulous wedding suppliers (several already great friends of the blog!) so I’ll hand over the reins to her now. Enjoy – and I hope this gives you some ideas for your own gothic inspired wedding!

Have you heard of Fearless Bridal? It’s an intriguing name for a really cool idea – all about wearing your wedding dress again but in a setting and scenario which contrasts with your wedding day.

bridal photography London wedding blog (15)
Fearless Bridal with London wedding photographer Yolande De Vries

Fearless Bridal means you get to have a great time doing whatever the hell you like in your wedding dress – but definitely not drinking champagne and eating canapes on a perfectly maintained lawn!

London wedding photographer Yolande De Vries describes Fearless Bridal as “one of my secret guilty pleasures… it is the perfect opportunity for a bride to wear her wedding dress again and have a fun and individual photography session in a location and setting that contrasts her wedding day.

Why choose Fearless Bridal?

The star of this particular Fearless Bridal shoot is wedding photographer Anneli Marinovich, who says “I always knew I wanted to wear my wedding dress again after our wedding day, so when Yolande (dear friend and fabulous photographer) suggested a Fearless Bridal Shoot late last year I instantly knew that it would be very different from the setting we had for our very pretty seaside wedding in Cape Town.

alternative royal wedding inspiration photo credit Damian Hall (15)Back in the very beginning of English Wedding Blog I wrote my ‘About‘ page to introduce myself. I love pretty things: I adore edgy, provocative and rebellious things as well. My response to the diamond jubilee and Olympics marketing-fest has been halfhearted… until Mat Hepplestone of Red Floral got in touch. Mat’s flower designs are always a revelation – and his flair for the alternative and cutting edge in flower design is unrivalled. With such a top creative team behind this shoot, I’m convinced: Britannia rules!

This is a wedding industry shoot which stands out from the crowd of red, white and blue-bedecked blog features. And while I might sample a cupcake and wave a bit of bunting come jubilee weekend (I’ve moved back to a little Cumbrian village – my Dad will make me!), inside my heart this is the Britannia I can relate to. The story behind the shoot is just as inspiring – over to Mat to tell you more.

I’m avoiding union jacks and red-white-blue features with every glance at my inbox these days! There are gorgeous ideas out there, and yes a little inspiration from current events is nice… but before we all plan red-white-blue weddings (and before I start buying red-white-blue accessories for my new home!) I’m going to try and win you over today with some regal wedding inspiration done a little differently. Which is what we love here on English Wedding Blog, yes? Enjoy…

Big Little Things needed no encouragement to style a shoot to pay tribute to the Queen and the Jubilee. It is potentially the last time in our life time we’ll celebrate a Jubilee of a reigning Queen – how exciting is that?
