The wedding industry is a creative place – full of independent businesses, designers, photographers who inspire me every single day. I love seeing new ideas for wedding styling in the styled shoots we feature here on the English Wedding Blog – but it’s something new for a photographer to reinvent the styled shoot itself… this is such an excellent idea!

Hampshire photographer Jennifer Sinclair and Gemma from Little Star Events were part of a wedding fair at Alton House this spring, and brought creative suppliers and designers together on the day for a styled shoot with some gorgeous bridal (and bridesmaid!) looks for spring.

Jennifer said “Suppliers have taken the time and expense to showcase their products at the wedding fayre so what an amazing opportunity to use those products at the wedding fayre and combine with a styled shoot.  Gemma and I tried this concept at the recent Little Star Events Vintage Wedding Fayre at Alton House and it worked brilliantly!”

You might just recognise bride Steph from the cover of the English Wedding Book… you might recognise the calligraphy in this shoot as mine – I was so happy to be a part of this shoot earlier in the year. You’ll most certainly know the divine landscapes are my beloved Lake District… today’s emerald wedding inspiration shoot comes from the shores of Windermere, from one of the Lakes’ loveliest venues: Silverholme.

The richness of the wedding cakes, calligraphy wedding invitations and striking bridal bouquets contrasts with the blissfully light and dreamy bridal looks. Lake District wedding photographer Jenny Heyworth captures them all beautifully – from the intricate details of the handwritten lettering and marbled wedding cakes to the breathtaking landscapes from the shores of Windermere. Steph and Ellie’s beauty shines: hair and make up are by lovely Lucy Pearson and they wear lovely gowns from Julia Tasker Bridal Couture.

Hasn’t it felt as though spring is finally here this week? I’ve been walking in the hills before work each morning and enjoying the warmth of the sun on my face – it’s been bliss! And so I wanted to bring a little springtime to the blog for you today. This shoot is full of delicious florals and beautiful Charlotte Balbier gowns, in the loveliest natural setting… and showcases a whimsical bridal style which is just perfect for the warmer months.

Sticking to seasonal flowers such as gorgeous tulips in a fresh crisp colour palette really brought the colours, textures and scent of spring to life. Utilising fresh flowers in the hair really co ordinates the look. Pamela Dunn created delicate texture using sheer voile fabrics – a perfect idea for softening any venue or backdrop.

Our springtime brides’ hair was kept soft and natural – beautiful curls and a rustic fishtail plait completed the look. Fresh floral crowns created a stunning focal piece.

Jennifer Sinclair is known for being super lovely, taking the prettiest pictures and for always planning exciting new projects and styled shoots to inspire her lovely brides- and grooms-to-be. There’s always something new to discover at Jennifer Sinclair Photography, and this wonderful Hampshire wedding photographer has plans to explore, photograph and share some of the very best wedding venues through the course of 2016. The first – a spectacular venue with extensive grounds – is elegant, and perfect for a timeless, classic wedding look. Welcome to Barnett Hill!

Good morning, beautiful! I’d like to share something a little different with you this morning, if I may? This stunning styled boho shoot comes from gorgeous Gawsworth Hall in Cheshire, and from wedding photographers Boho Lane.

The snowy grounds are gorgeous; the styling creative, alternative and fresh. I adore dried flowers, especially for a winter wedding – and the grasses and lavender are just divine. I also LOVE seeing couples in non-traditional outfits… so the boho dress, faux fur coat and our groom’s more casual look are pretty damn perfect for me.

Boho Lane is a new business launching on Friday, with two established photographers joining forces to create something which promises to be pretty awesome. For details on the launch party see the poster at the end of today’s feature!

Gemma & Andy are an upcoming bohemian style wedding photography business based in Cheshire. They’re both established wedding photographers, friends for a good few years, and have come together to create Boho Lane.

It’s one of those days where outside just isn’t an option so instead of my usual run on the beach I’m snuggled at my desk dreaming of cosy log fires and gorgeous winter weddings… which is kind of lovely!

Today I have a lovely luxe shoot from Cotswolds venue Wyck Hill House to share with you. The details are divine and the setting just so luxurious you’ll wish you were there. Enjoy!Claire

Words: Amy Hay at Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa
Wyck Hill House is just beautiful during the winter months.  To sit and enjoy a warming drink in front of a roaring log fire, and look out over the crisp Cotswold countryside is really rather lovely! I wanted to capture a little of this magic in our shoot and create a setting for a truly stunning winter wedding.”

Candles and lots of them were the order of the day.  Paired with stunning floral arrangements and crystal candlebras, they created a gorgeous glow, off-setting the gold colours in our Adams Room.  We hoped to create a glamorous but very cosy and welcoming wedding breakfast room, which I hope was achieved.

Today’s blog is full of country charm for those of you planning a winter wedding. White orchids, obligatory pine cones, adorable little white cotton balls and handcrafted table centrepieces make today’s shoot magical. The bride and groom are real: they eloped last summer but had no photographs taken of the day. The intimacy of today’s blog captures their love as well as the romance of an intimate winter wedding – and I love it.

An uber charming photo and film shoot of an intimate winter English elopement with a real life couple who returned to this private garden estate venue bordering Dartmoor National Park on the banks of a Devon river where they were married in their own elopement last summer before having a big wedding reception nearby.

I was chatting with a friend yesterday and the words “like a princess” came into our conversation – and we chuckled. Neither of us are princessy girls… and yet, doesn’t everyone want to be the centre of someone’s universe sometimes?

Legend Bridal Designs alternative wedding blog with Tiree Dawson Photography (16)

That feeling of “like a princess” applies to relationships as much as it does to weddings. I’ve heard so many stories from brides-to-be finding their dress: ‘The One” – and having that princess feeling! Until now I’ve always felt a little apart from that; I’m no Cinderella, I’ve never worn a cocktail dress or ballgown – it just isn’t me. And when it comes to wedding dresses, I’d go as alternative as I could get away with!

This last month or so I’ve come to realise that alternative and princess aren’t worlds apart: you can be both. There are more princesses than Cinderella and Kate (yawn!) – and turning to those with fiery characters and exciting styles means you can look amazing, and like your gorgeous, alternative self, and still feel like a princess on your wedding day!

Matching your wedding style with your venue is easy when you find a welcoming home-from-home which has years of character and charm in its very walls. Nestled among Lake District roads, with views to the distant hills and plenty of nooks and crannies for your guests to discover, is The Plough at Lupton, where today’s vintage-inspired shoot took place.

We have everything feminine and pretty with a sassy 1950s twist – a stunning hand painted wedding cake (the colours are SO fabulous for 2016!), a sweet little vintage rose bouquet and a real vintage coach which almost steals the show! (Seriously: hats off to the vintage bus drivers of Cumbria; I’m a local girl and I know our roads. You are legends!) Oh, and did I mention the festoon lighting from Typical Type? It’s divine… and I’d never seen anything like it before 2016. Definitely a must-have for weddings with plenty going on outside!

I’ve been excited about today’s wedding style feature for SO long… you see I was in at the beginning, chatting about colours and style ideas for the calligraphy element of the day even before it happened. I knew a little of what was planned… but oh my, how beautiful it all turned out to be.

Lovely Arusha’s Images Photography organised the shoot with a dream team of suppliers: the Charlie Brear bridal separates are out of this world; the styling of the venue inside and out is gorgeous; and those lovely light-up letters by Typical Type are always guaranteed to brighten my day!

I’ll share the shoot in two parts: there were two distinct looks on the day and I wanted to show you all the ideas for a vibrant country wedding style first. Later this week we’ll see how a country wedding venue can play perfect host to a more vintage-inspired affair!

In the English Wedding Book (do you have your copy? Download it for FREE!) I mentioned that the trend for woodland and boho weddings was beginning to evolve into something more. I adore a woodland wedding; I’m a country girl through and through. The idea of disappearing into nature for a romantic celebration is magic to my ears – and I stumbled across a very different little wedding venue which could appeal to other country lovers…

cowshed wedding venue Cornwall (9)

The Cowshed at Freathy Farmhouse is as rustic as you can imagine; a real cowshed, and something of a tardis, albeit an insanely pretty one in today’s shoot. The outside is a simple farm building; the inside has been turned into a gorgeous, floral, cosy and welcoming space for brides and grooms.

Not everyone dreams of being a princess. I never have; and if I’m honest the classic bridal style isn’t for me. I love dresses which are different, creative, and which make a real impression. A dress has to have ‘wow’ as well as being beautiful. And in an ideal world, a dress has to have a story behind it. Enter the awesome Legend Bridal Designs along with an impressive cast of north west wedding suppliers for today’s alternative styled shoot…

I’m a little obsessed with Game of Thrones. I was excited to hear that the girls at Legend Bridal Designs have recently created custom wedding gowns for brides who love the series and found the inspiration for their day there. Legend are bespoke dressmakers with a very different kind of bridal shop – their dresses are out of this world. I was over the moon to see this magical, unique bridal shoot featuring their gorgeous designs. Images are by lovely Tiree Dawson Photography.
