Last month it was announced that the laws governing where folks get married in England and Wales might change – and it’s about time, we think! We dream of windswept elopements on sea cliffs, of secret woodland glades for our tipis and festoon-lit wedding celebrations… and of creating and speaking our own vows which don’t include legal jargon or a single religion if we don’t want them to! We’ll be watching the development of that little story carefully here at English Wedding HQ.

I’ve always said a wedding doesn’t have to be anything more than the two of you saying ‘I do’. Today’s feature celebrates the most romantic of weddings with Petra and Thomas on a quiet Jersey beach. I adore everything about their day: they’re both stunning; the bouquet is gorgeous – and our bride and groom just keep smiling the whole day long. Oh, and then they run into the sea together… and it just looks perfect!

A beautiful Peak District wedding with the most thoughtful touches for guests we’ve ever seen! Kate and Steve celebrated their love at Losehill House, and chose John Mottershaw Photography to capture their day. These two are perfect together; clearly adored by their guests and head over heels in love with each other. And we love the little extras Kate told us about – the hampers for guests, the pet treats and surprise arrival of Branston, their super cute pooch! There was even a cave tour on the morning of the wedding… as you do, in the Peak District!

With wedding season in full swing, experts at Flying Flowers have revealed the wedding flower trends that are set to be everywhere in 2022. The recent nuptials of the likes of Kourtney Kardashian and Nicola Peltz-Beckham have inspired a whole new interest in adding extra floral touches to a wedding.

Minimalist bouquets

Simple yet majorly effective, minimalist bouquets are a trend that has swept the 2022 wedding season and will continue to soar. The hashtag #minimalistbride has racked up an incredible 7 million views on TikTok and both Nicola and Kourtney opted for stripped-back floral bouquets made up of just a few stems.

When I first began English Wedding I remember writing a little ‘about’ piece. The blog was for every bride and groom, and to showcase every side of English style from classic elegance through punk and folk, via city chic and our artisan heritage. I stand by that today: we’ve shared amazing inspiration and real weddings for every kind of couple. I’m proud of that.

And in these unsettling times I’m determined to keep supporting independent wedding businesses as much as I possibly, possibly can. Today I’d like to share sustainable British bridalwear brand Lee Klabin. Lee has just unveiled her AW 20/21 collection of statement bridalwear, fusing high fashion with incredible ethics and a look I just LOVE!
