Beautiful light for weddings in Kent’s unique Spring Barn – coming April 2026

Published by Claire Gould on

I can picture it now: natural light pouring in as couples say “I do” in a truly unique setting. Guests taken aback as they enter the Spring Barn, beautifully decorated for every kind of wedding. The cathedral style ceiling and views over estuary waters making the perfect setting for a wedding in a relaxing, natural space. The cries of curlews as the sun sets over what promises to be one of Kent’s most sought-after venues for weddings 2026 & beyond.

I have exciting news to share with you, from one of my favourite venues: The Ferry House on the Swale estuary in Kent. They’re starting work on a stunning new space which will bring beautiful light and breathtaking views for weddings from April 2026 onwards.

Styling the space will be a dream. The cathedral style ceiling means guests’ views won’t be obstructed by pillars. It’ll be easier to arrange tables and seating than a traditional barn with pillars, and gives your florist and venue stylist an alternative barn layout to work with – I’m sure they’ll adore this space. Wedding photographers will feel the same – barns can be dark but with folding doors and windows along the water side of the Spring Barn, the space will be more light and airy than most. This means lots of gorgeous photos of your day, all year round!

Relaxed and laid back weddings will be perfect in the new Spring Barn at the Ferry House. There’ll be lounge areas and a bar inside, and for warm evenings where your guests want to relax outside, they’ll enjoy a romantically lit courtyard and cosy firepit in the Rose Garden. The Ferry House will become an exclusive wedding and events venue from April 2026 so the spaces will be just for you and your wedding guests to enjoy.

Speaking of relaxing weddings, the amazing team at The Ferry House will help you plan your wedding, and you’ll also have access to their very own planning portal (launching early 2025) to help you keep everything organised, on track and as stress free as possible.

As The Ferry House will be an exclusive use wedding venue from 2026, you’ll have your own private pub for your drinks reception – a cosy and welcoming space with fires blazing in the colder months.

This is an ideal venue for weddings with up to 260 daytime guests and as many as 350 for evening receptions, as the new Spring Barn will be lovely and spacious. Nature lovers will fall head over heels for the Oak Gazebo where outdoor ceremonies are held just metres from the estuary (and with incredible views). For intimate weddings there’s the cosy Hop Barn which is perfect for more rustic ceremonies and celebrations.

All this cosiness and comfort ties in with the Ferry House’s background – the farm and its location in rural Kent means local produce and amazing food is at the heart of every wedding here. They’re revamping their wedding menus with brand new dishes for the launch of the Spring Barn, sourcing ingredients from their own kitchen garden, family farm and local estate.

Guests can stay with you after your Ferry House wedding with a choice of accommodation including accessible spaces. There’s 11 luxury, individually styled rooms as well ascottage accommodation very close by. (More about 2-day wedding packages coming soon!)

The Ferry House’s diary will close from October 2025 for the renovations, with the first weddings in the new Spring Barn taking place from April 2026, perfectly timed for the rush of couples expected to book weddings after the engagement gap. 2026 promises to be a very busy year, so nearlyweds are advised to book favourite venues and suppliers early! There’s an online brochure for 2026 weddings at the Ferry House on the venue’s website, and enquiries are open for dates in 2026 & beyond.

You can also visit The Ferry House on Saturday the 9th of November at their wedding showcase. It’s a lovely opportunity for you both to see the Hop Barn and Event Suite (set to be replaced by the Spring Barn, but similar in size, so you can still get a real sense for the space when you visit) decorated for a wedding breakfast, to have a chat with the wedding coordinators and see the location for yourselves. The showcase stars from 11am and there are more details on the venue’s website.

One thing I love to hear about The Ferry House is that it becomes a special place for couples even after their wedding day. Even after they become an exclusive wedding and events venue, they’ll continue to hold taster evenings and pop-up dining events where you can celebrate your anniversary and other family occasions long after the renovations.
