Caitlin & Daniel’s beautiful vintage wedding in Harrogate, with Bethany Clarke Wedding Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

Hey there lovely, how are you doing today? For those of you in Yorkshire and the north of England, I have a fabulous wedding with some lovely supplier recommendations for you today. Gorgeous couple Caitlin and Daniel married last year, choosing local suppliers to capture and style their day. Coming from New Zealand, the venue was really special for Caitlin and Daniel – The Crown Hotel dates back 300 years and has all the old English charm you’d expect from such a classic venue. Caitlin looks amazing in a beautiful lace dress, Daniel her perfect match in a classic blue suit. The flowers by York’s Hare + Howl Floristry are fabulous!

How did you choose your photographer?

Our pictures were really important to us and we were after a specific style. We looked around online and as soon as we saw previous wedding pictures that the Lloyd-Clarkes had photographed, we knew we wanted to book with them.

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

We were so pleased with the photographs from our special day. Matt captured the day perfectly. When we looked through all the pictures it was like we were reliving our day again. Matt captured everything from getting ready, our portraits to dancing in the evening. He was so professional that we forgot he was there!

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

We were married at The Crown hotel in Harrogate. We are from New Zealand and had been living in the UK for two years at the time we got married. Venues like The Crown are not an option back home so we love how traditional and old the building was. The natural light in the rooms was another thing we loved.

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

Dan and I bought his suit together and I bought my dress with my Mum on our first trip dress shopping. I knew what I was after, something simple but with lace and I knew the dress was the one as soon as I saw it. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were a bit more difficult as most of them were in New Zealand! I sent one of my bridesmaids a dress to try on and sent the same dress to my bridesmaid in the UK – luckily they both loved it and after some alterations they fit really well. Dan took the groomsmen to buy their suits after they arrived in England, about a week before the wedding.

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

Hare and Howl (Elichia Robinson) from York did our flowers and button holes and they were one of my favourite parts. Although having never met Elichia, she listened to everything that I had asked for and made the most beautiful bouquets for me and my bridesmaids along with matching button holes for the guys. We incorporated some New Zealand fern into my bouquet to make it more personal for us.

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

My cake was made by at Twisted Cakes in Harrogate. It was white chocolate and it didnt last long!

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

To stay within our budget, I made the table decorations for the venue We sprayed candle sticks for the tables and my bridesmaid Grace and I made flower jars the day before with flowers from Morrisons! We also had a Polaroid guestbook that went down really well and gave us a lovely keepsake. Dan and I painted and built the post box for cards too.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

Our first dance was Your just too good to be true by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons we chose it because we both love the song.
