Simon Biffen is a Somerset wedding photographer who loves his storytelling role, capturing the uniqueness of each couple and how they celebrate their love at weddings.

The pleasure of being a wedding photographer for me is in the opportunity it gives to capture what a wedding day is really like: from emotional first looks to action-packed dance floors, I am there to tell the story honestly and creatively. I shoot all day which means I’m able to document the morning preparations through to the first dance and beyond. Blending in and allowing events to happen naturally is crucial and I never want people to feel like they have to do anything different for the camera. It’s your day, do whatever you like!

This aspect of authentically telling a story really is most important and comes to the fore when I take couples off for pictures of just the two of them. So many people are fearful of having a camera pointed at them and the most common thing I hear from people before their big day is that they are dreading the ‘photoshoot’. For a few years when I started out, putting people in poses, asking for smiles or kisses was how I worked too, but it just didn’t feel right. Then I realised there was another way. Allowing couples a space to be themselves, to play games and interact in activities that made it feel nothing like a typical photoshoot, but simply like time hanging out together. Overall, it is the experience of the session and the importance of how it ‘feels’ over how it ‘looks’ that actually results in images that are full of expression and emotion, and moments that mean something and have real value.

I hope you’ll explore more of my images here on English Wedding and on my website, and if you like what you see, I’d love to hear the plans you have for your wedding day. I am based in Bath, Somerset and I travel across the UK (and when needed, abroad!) for weddings. I have covered intimate elopements with just the bride and groom right up to grand affairs with 300 guests. Every wedding is unique and I hope you’ll give me the opportunity to capture the magic of yours.

John Hope is a UK and destination wedding photographer based in Yorkshire and travelling wherever in the world his wedding bookings take him! John’s style is documentary, relaxed and unobtrusive – and his images are full of passion and emotion, capturing the precious moments you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

“Hi! I’m a wedding photographer based in Leeds but I travel all over the UK and internationally, wherever my work takes me. I love how in a coming together of vision and technique, anything from raw energy and euphoria to complete peace and tranquillity can be captured forever in the click of a shutter.

Weddings provide so many amazing, defining moments in people’s lives so it’s a truly great privilege to be chosen by my clients to record them for years and generations to come. My aim is to capture these moments in a creative, organic way. I’m not about ordering people around or directing things. But I’ll be there, unobtrusively documenting the day as it unfolds: the joy, the laughs and the tears: the story.

If you were to ask what drives me as a photographer then I’d say that I love emotions, I love passion. I love capturing those special fleeting, ‘gone in the blink of an eye’ moments. I love manipulating light and shooting creatively. Through the wedding day I have a relaxed, story-telling approach and only really step up and ‘take control’ for the portraits where I’ll make sure you’ll get something breath-taking to hang on your wall!”

My style is very relaxed and most of your wedding day I will be capturing all the little moments, the big moments and everything in between. It’s all about the laughs, smiles, tears and the love. Of course we can do a few group shots if you want them and I love to take couples away for a short portrait run and great some epic pictures. The most important thing to me is that you enjoy your day with your guests and let me capture of out for you.

I get there as early as you want me and always stay for the dance floor. Let’s be honest, drunk people dancing is a goldmine for us photographers 🙂

I would love to know more about your day so please get in touch and let’s chat about all things weddings.”
