Bespoke bridal gown designer dressmaker Caroline Arthur offers made to measure gowns, wedding dress alterations, silk painting and re-styling pre-loved dresses at her Surrey boutique

British couture designer dressmaker Caroline Arthur is warm, funny and brimming with creative ideas. Her expertise and approach makes her brides feel relaxed and confident. She created her innovative digital Couture Kit, as a useful tool for brides, which allows you to express your bespoke wedding dress design on a simple web app.

Caroline has been hand-making bespoke wedding dresses for creative and thoughtful brides for 20 years. She studied Couture Bridal wear at the London College of Fashion, and grew up in a family of dressmakers. Gaining a degree in Italian from Lancaster University, she spent a year in Florence, enjoyed 10 years working for Monsoon in the 1990s, and now lives with her young family near Guildford in Surrey.

Caroline loves re-designing, dyeing, or completely re-working brides’ old wedding dresses into one or more wearable heirloom pieces. This means you can hold on to the romance and memories intrinsic to the gown you wore on your wedding day, and get it out of the attic.

Having learnt the techniques of this versatile medium under the expert tuition of Carole Smollan in London, she has developed her repertoire to create light, simple, pretty designs, mainly featuring the flora and fauna found in her English Country garden at Wildacre in Surrey.
