Happy weekend! Thank you so much for sticking around to enjoy the English Wedding Blog this week – we’ve had a wonderful week full of weddings and style inspiration and I’m thrilled to be sharing yet another real wedding with you today, this time from Manchester city centre. Gorgeous couple Rebecca and Stephen’s October wedding day was intimate, informal and relaxed. They focused on fun, laughter and happiness – and their photos capture the atmosphere brilliantly. The styling is minimal, contemporary and beautiful, and the venue is The King Street Townhouse Hotel. Images are by lovely Sarah Millington Photography, based in Derbyshire.

The beautiful King Street Townhouse Hotel is situated in the historic conservation area of Manchester city centre. The hotel oozes luxury with gorgeous suites and stunning views of the city from both the rooms and the rooftop terrace where the reception was held. The hotel manages to be both cozy and opulent, striking the perfect balance between historic and contemporary details.

The highlight of the day was the intimate candlelit ceremony, closely followed by stunning group and couple portraits showcasing the city skyline and historic features. Family played a strong part in this wonderful wedding, Rebecca’s daughters and sister were her bridesmaids and her son was Best Man!

Rebecca’s talented Dad designed the table plan and friend Sarah made a huge welcome sign both of which were positioned on easels provided free of charge by the venue. The couple opted for a naked sponge wedding cake as Rebecca doesn’t eat chocolate. “My sister recommended one of her mummy friends to make the cake, and Mum decorated the cake when it arrived with our flowers to tie it in with the theme.”

King Street Townhouse Hotel is stunningly decorated down to every last detail. We simply added some candles to the ceremony room by Giraffe Events in Manchester and our own flowers. My mum and her friend bought and designed all the flowers, purchased directly from the trade market 2 days before the wedding.

Sarah came highly recommended by my sister. She was amazing!! She captured our day in the most perfect way. Our wedding was relaxed, informal and non traditional. Sarah completely understood that we wanted the same for our photos and she delivered this and more.

Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?

We were thrilled. I had in my mind the way I wanted our day to be captured. As soon as we opened the file we were just blown away.

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Lots and lots of recommendations.

What’s your top tip for saving money?

As we were creating an informal wed ding we had a bbq buffet wedding breakfast. This saved a lot per head and people loved the chance to choose their own food.
Being a high end hotel the bbq and buffet food was exquisite and varied. Super value for money.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

The wine, champagne and evening food.

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

Home made by my lovely friend Sarah Peacock who has her own business:
Enjoy Chocolate

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

I bought the first dress I tried on ! I fell in love immediately.

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

I went for rainbow shoes purely for the comfort factor. They are stylish but cushioned so I can be on my feet all day and night.

And what did the groom wear?

The groom and best man (my 12 year old son) wore Marc Darcy matching suits. Manchester based online company.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Bridesmaids dresses – silk Fred

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Hair by Hannah at Pastel Hair Design in Stockport
Make up : by Louise Elliott make up artist

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

We splashed out on a singer and pianist – Dan Burnett who we had heard playing in the summer in a pub in Harrogate. He was perfect and played during the champagne reception, dinner and our first dance. Dj Lee Maloney a friend of Stephen’s played the night away.

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Watch the budget, really think about how you cab achieve an amazing day without spending more than you need to.

What’s the best thing about being married?

A sense of completeness and contentment we’ve never felt before.
