Join me this morning for some especially beautiful wedding inspiration. This is right up my street – natural styling, eco-conscious and gorgeous ideas for a boho chic wedding celebration in one of the finest locations in the UK. We’re heading to Hendra Cottage in Penwith, St Just, Cornwall, with a super talented group of wedding suppliers whose vision comes to life in the most wonderful way. Words are by Wild Tipi weddings; images by Verity Westcott Photography.

The inspiration behind this shoot was to capture the rugged beauty of Cornwall’s north coast. Wild Tipi have just partnered with Hendra Cottage, Wedding and Events Venue – St Just in Penwith and we wanted to celebrate this with a wild Cornish coastal shoot. We hope to inspire brides and grooms with our use of nature; our ethos at Wild Tipi is to create stunning, individual weddings immersed in nature. Our tipis themselves are inspired by nature’s tree canopies and all of them are made in the UK from sustainable wood. We always endeavour to work with local suppliers here in Cornwall who share our ethos.

We drew from our natural surrounds for the shoot, using the stunning location as the inspiration; the purple and green heather and foxgloves which grow wild on the clifftops gave us the starting point for our bouquet and colour scheme. There were delicate touches of green and tiny white flowers decorating the tables and woven into the bride’s hair. The ‘naked’ cake (created by White Radish Cornish Caterers) reflected the Cornish landscape further with the rich hues of the locally picked blackberries complemented by camellias, local foliage and mint from a local cottage’s garden. Bringing more of the outdoors in, elements such as locally found feathers, the slate from the land which so beautifully reflects the colour and feel of the landscape, the sea and the sky. Many of the colours found on the table can be found just by looking out at the horizon. And of course, no Cornish wedding would be complete without a scone; this time served with a hearty chutney made in St Just; the perfect companion for our locally sourced Cornish cheeses.

The coast and sea were drawn into the tipis with lobster baskets and starfishes dotted around the venue and strung from the tipi poles were oars draped in floaty white fabric; as they blew in the ocean breeze it was evocative of ships sailing on the sea below. This dreamy feeling was reflected further in the bride’s gown from the nearby St Ives Bridal Room. Even our choice of rings echoed the Cornish wilds; we chose them from Justin Duance Jewellery, famed for creating wooden and sandcasted jewellery using precious stones and metals sourced in Cornwall.
