Modern Hollywood Glamour in an English Country House
So there are just – ooh, six days left now until Christmas Day! And I hope you lovely lot will forgive me for going a little bit festive in some of our features this week! The florals in today’s feature are just wonderful, with warm reds and lush textures – I’ll always fall for a rich, juicy dahlia and a full red rose… but when they’re surrounded by luscious foliage and beautiful, elegant styling… I’m in heaven!
Kimberley Louise Makeup organised a styled bridal photoshoot to showcase modern Hollywood glamour at Balcombe Place, incorporating rich florals and elegant make-up and dresses in a modern Hollywood style, which was a perfect fit for this English country house wedding venue.
Fiona Mills from Fiona Mills Art captured some beautiful images to inspire any bride who desires a Hollywood look for her wedding, together with glamorous styling ideas. Her inspiration came from the sirens of the 50’s, where sexiness, sass and confidence oozed out with every pose.
The venue provides a setting for suppliers and couples to develop their unique and personal style in the way that they want. The backdrop is quite special, with a huge marble fireplace in the Drawing Room, wooden panelled walls and gold embellished wallpaper; each room offers something different.
As a new venue, a hidden gem within the West Sussex countryside, styled shoots are a wonderful way for Balcombe Place to help their couples visualise the potential and understand all of the possibilities. The private home offers seclusion and exclusivity to allow couples to create a special wedding celebration unique to them.
Opulence and Grace provided 3 bridal gowns made from corded and Chantilly lace. They purposely steered away from anything too sparkly, because in this case the silhouette did all the talking.
Cabbage White Flowers created an oversized bouquet and kept it seasonal by using silvery/green varieties of Eucalyptus and dark red Cotinus foliage. The colour palette bled from deepest darkest red to a silvery fuchsia with Proteas, Dahlias, trailing Amaranthus and Leucadendrons. The final touch of glamour came from the Red Eagle roses and trails of fine Habotai silk ribbons.
The theme continued in the arrangements for the fireplace and tablescape. This mirrored the flowers from the bouquet with both formal domes of red Carnations and loose arrangements in vases. The formal table setup included moss topiary shapes on pedestals which added height and variety across the table and other areas of the venue.
Stone toned classic crockery was used to showcase an alternative to using white and this worked well with the rich red floral centrepieces.
Kent Bridal Hairstylist created a beautiful cascade of Hollywood waves for our model. This was complimented by a hairpiece from Lace and Favour.
Kimberley Louise Makeup used warm colours to compliment the model’s skin tone. Gold and bronze eyeshadows were used with lots of small and medium cluster eyelashes. This gave the eye makeup intensity and drama. Ombre lips are on trend at the moment and this was achieved by using 2 different tones of red lipstick.
