Lucy & Tim’s gorgeous outdoor wedding in Dorset, with Jonny Barratt Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

Happy Monday lovelies! Just a handful of days to go now until my next calligraphy class in Manchester so it’s a crazy busy week here at English Wedding HQ! Today though, I have the most beautiful celebration to share with you – Lucy & Tim’s gorgeous wedding at 10 Castle Street, an exclusive country house venue in Dorset. Lucy’s Halfpenny London dress is just fabulous, and I love the atmosphere of the day which just comes across wonderfully well in the pics.

I totally fell in love with my dress. It was everything I wished for. I wanted my accessories to be statements as my dress was very simple. They’re my favourite things to purchase in general so this was the easiest part for me! I had a veil for the day and feather and diamante headband for the evening to add glamour. My shoes were the best! The had fur pom poms on the toes – I wanted to have a little signature of my style. Tim wore a stunning black three piece from Reiss, and my bridesmaids wore black jumpsuits made by my Mother. We wanted to keep attire monochrome!

Wedding venue:

10 Castle Street, Cranborne, Dorset

Wedding month:

May

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

Try two: Inexplicable joy

Your wedding style or theme:

Hollywood Glamour meets English Country Garden

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Mostly recommendations. I am lucky enough to have incredibly creative family and friends

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Don’t settle for the first quote you are given for everything. It’s important you have budget in mind and suppliers help meet you somewhere in the middle. That and don’t get carried away with tiny detail! Venue, food and drink is what makes it most memorable!

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

The marquee. We debated about being inside the venue and it turned out on our wedding weekend was a heatwave!

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

Labour of love!

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

my friend is a professional makeup artist to the stars!!

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)

I was lucky enough to have an aunt who was a international florist. She left an incredible legacy when she passed away – Jane Packer Flowers.
Her team dressed our day. White, puffball peonies and green fern throughout. Her and my favourites. Her spirit was with us all day.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

Barely. It’s the most beautiful country manor house hotel which has its own incredible style, decadence and art. A real eclectic mix which suited us perfectly.

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

My best friend helped design and add fun touches throughout and my Mum made a mountain of meringues for our wedding cake. It made them all the more enjoyable.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

We hired a jazz band (The Tin Pan Alleys) to march us from church to venue which was one of our most favourite elements of the day. It was a complete surprise for everyone including my family. The Wedding Smashers played all our favourite music and created the most incredible party atmosphere in the evening!

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Look up. Look around. Look at each other and devour it all.

What’s the best thing about being married?

Calling my best friend my husband.
