Rich and opulent wedding styling from Balcombe Place, West Sussex

Before I tell you about today’s gorgeous feature, I think perhaps I should mention tomorrow. My inbox is full to bursting with royal wedding spam… the media is going into overdrive (ooooh, so many comments, opinions and criticisms of weddings! Please, make it stop!) but until now I’ve mentioned nothing about the royal wedding on the English Wedding Blog. Why? Well, I’m just not a fan of the royal family! sorry everyone! – so this week is very much business as usual (with gorgeous inspiration and real weddings) on the blog every day. This morning I wanted to share a shoot I’ve had up my sleeve for far too long… it’s beautiful, atmospheric and wonderfully inspiring. I hope you love it!

I came across this venue several months ago by accident really at the start of its renovation to bring its beauty and history back to life. Rather than waffle on about it here, it will probably be easier to have a read over on their new website that launched this week – www.balcombeplace.com

I’m sure you will agree this place oozes beauty amongst English charm with so much history. This really is a hidden gem…

Tucked away along a private drive in West Sussex you’ll find Balcombe Place, a Grade II Listed country house built in 1856.

After 64 years, Balcombe Place returned to the management of Lord and Lady Denman’s descendants, three generations of them in fact. It was important to the family that after so many years of the property being in the hands of others, the house’s next adventure would be one that complements its features while ensuring the survival of the property as part of the Balcombe Estate.

As part of our shoot we wanted to capture the gorgeous beauty of the rooms using a mix of subtle textures from marble, metals and rich tones of the linen and flowers. It is so often we see pale, blush tones but the pure luxury and elegance of Balcombe Place was crying out for this rich and opulent look. From the styling of the tablescape with subtle patterns of the marble and metals right through to the tones of lipstick used on our bride, we created a beautiful showcase.

With five stunning reception rooms, formal gardens and the privacy of the surrounding estate, Balcombe Place is flexible to your needs and wants. You can decide how you would like to use the house and grounds for your wedding, inside or outside, formal and traditional or something quirky and relaxed, every detail of your wedding is personal to you.
