I love the atmosphere of this wedding – the love and especially the laughter and enjoyment comes across so strongly in Rianna and Will’s images – it’s all just gorgeous and totally captivating. This wedding was sent in by James Richard Photography – we think he’s amazing!
This is a wedding with more of a personal touch than so many – yes, Rianna & Will made individual potted succulent wedding favours for their 100 guests, but as lovely as that is, there’s more. The wedding dress was made and designed by Rianna and her mum. It’s wonderfully pretty, a perfect fit – and the loveliest and most meaningful thing I think I’ve ever seen since the English Wedding Blog was born.
Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
He’s a friend of a friends and also photographed their wedding a couple of years before so we knew his photos would be amazing.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for more from a wedding photographer. He made everyone feel at ease and ended up feeling more like an old friend, having fun with everyone else but still capturing every single incredible moment.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
Looking through the photos in order took us right back to our wedding day and let us relive every laugh and cry all over again.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
The perfect day to celebrate with all of our friends and family
Your wedding style or theme:
Relaxed, informal, party
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Mainly recommendations from friends
What’s your top tip for saving money?
If you have the time, make things like favours and decorations yourself. It saves money and makes everything feel so much more personal.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The venue – it was definitely worth having everything all in one, beautiful place and paying extra for the farmhouse onsite for our close family and friends to stay over
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
All handmade and it took forever!
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
My mum and I actually made my wedding dress but it still turned out more perfect than I could have imagined.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
Because I saved money on my wedding dress I did splash out on some incredible designer shoes but they were well worth it!
And what did the groom wear?
A simple 3-piece suit
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
I didn’t want things looking too weddingy so my bridesmaids all chose their own individual dresses in different jewel colours
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
It was definitely worth hiring a professional – Zoe from Knot your Average Bride, did an incredible job and was a pleasure to have around the morning of the wedding, keeping everyone calm https://www.knotyouraveragebride.co.uk/
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
We mainly went for foliage rather than flowers. Our florist was Lauren Wilson and she did an absolutely incredible job of managing to bring to life exactly what we had in our heads (despite us having absolutely zero knowledge about flowers) – https://m.facebook.com/laurenwilsonfloristry/?locale2=en_GB
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
The venue itself was beautiful enough, and we prefer things kept simple, so the main decorations were the ivy arrangements our florist created to hang from the grids on the double height ceiling. Jayson, who works at Houchins, coordinated our wedding and was there both the day before, helping to set up, and the day of to make sure everything ran smoothly. He was a god-send!
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
The most time-consuming, but satisfying, element we made ourselves were the favours. 100 hand-cut and potted mini terrariums for each of our guests to take home
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Again we just wanted simplicity and I’m lucky enough to have a sister and brother-in-law who are incredible bakers so they made us 3 individual cakes all in a slightly different style
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We decided to have live music for after the ceremony so hired a fiddle player and guitarist who are old friends of my husbands dad. It really set the tone for the whole day.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Keep things simple and don’t panic if things don’t go quite to plan. Whatever happens it’ll still end up being the best day of your lives, guaranteed!
What’s the best thing about being married?
We had already been together for 10 years so I didn’t think it would make things feel much different, but just being able to call him my husband (which I’m still not used to) is incredible
