Kayleigh and Scott’s sunflower-filled wedding at Capron House, with Joanna Cleeve Photography
The other weekend I bought sunflower seed packets… lots of them. I know it’s early, but I’m excited for summer! And I don’t think you can ever really have too many sunflowers, right? I’m fairly sure today’s beautiful bride Kayleigh and handsome husband Scott would agree. Their wedding is vibrant and summery, wonderfully creative and gorgeous in every possible way.
Sunflowers started as a bit of a personal joke between myself and Scott but we started to see beautiful bouquets mixed with white roses and felt these would set our summer wedding perfectly. We met Ellen from Enchanted Florist on the sly at a wedding fayre where she wasn’t actually working but someone introduced us and she was just brilliant! We showed her a few pictures and she designed the rest including the stair swags.
Wedding photographer’s website:
Joanna lives locally to us and I’ve often seen bits of her lovely work online but we both met her at a wedding fayre where Scott liked her and her photos too so we never really looked too much further!
Joanna took so many photos so we have tonnes and tonnes of beautiful memories from our day. She asked me before our day which photos we were specifically after and to be honest I just left the rest to her. She was so patient as neither of us are natural in front of the camera so needed lots of guidance and Scott just wanted to get his jacket off as it was boiling! Go and have an ice cream and stop having his picture taken!
I was so excited all day as I’d seen the email come through from Joanna with the link to see all of our photos and Scott had to work that day and made me promise not to look at them until he got home so I had to do anything and everything to keep myself distracted! But it was so lovely we settled down with a cup of tea and it was fantastic to relive our day almost and see snippets of moments of guests etc where we hadn’t been around at the time and it was nice to see that our guests genuinely looked like they were having a nice time.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Relaxed and beautifully unforgettable.
Your wedding style or theme:
Traditional simple elegance with personal twists
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Wedding fayres and recommendations and I used to work for Field and Fork our caterers.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
I (kayleigh) made a lot of bits myself. Sometimes buying is actually cheaper or the same price and you can then sell it on and get your money back. That is if you don’t mind DIY!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Photography! Flowers and entertainment.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Pure labour of love. I (kayleigh) made it all myself after many trips to hobby craft and a lot of evenings on Pinterest.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Yes it was the 2nd dress I tried on and although I tried lots of different styles on afterwards it was the first one I wanted to put back on!
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
Art couture from Eva Rose Bridal in storrington – who are absolutely amazing!!
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My veil also came from Eva Rose Bridal and I wore an ivory beaded hair vine that i think i bought from amazon! I’m not overly fussed on accessories in general and like simple things so I wore light blue studs and a simple zirconia necklace both from Very. I also wore my great aunts beautiful diamond engagement ring that had been passed down to my mum on my right hand as my something old and borrowed
And what did the groom wear?
Gorgeous grey tails which we decided to hire as he was unlikely to wear tails again! We hired from Grey’s suit hire in Worthing and the groomsmen all wore the same Scott just had a different waist coat. All their shoes came from ASOS.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Lovely low backed sage green dresses by TFNC from ASOS.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I did have my hair and make done. An old school friend Paisley Smith did my hair and Holly Turner from swans beauty did my make up and my sister’s. Adele my bridesmaid did everyone else’s hair and make up including my Mum’s.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Just before our wedding our venue was refurbished really nicely so really most of it was adding personal touches where we wanted them.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
Loads of it! My hobby craft points card looks great. I made all our invitations, order of service and table plan. I put all of the centre pieces and favours together myself too.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We chose a simple iced cake made by a friend of scotts who had just opened her own business – sparkle Bakes, purely for cutting really. Scott’s brother is a chef and made us amazing brownies which stole the show, plus he made enough to feed the 5000!
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
During the day we had Marvin Ford. He’s since been on Michael Mccintyres unexpected star! He was fantastic and created such a brilliant atmosphere during our drinks reception. In the evening my amazing best friend Adele Hendry sang our first dance accompanied by Ben Harvey followed by a few songs which got everyone dancing. We then had a DJ for the reception – flashback DJs from Midhurst – they were fabulous.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Everyone says it but take those 5 minutes after your ceremony to yourselves and just enjoy your day. Don’t worry about everyone else they are just grateful to be there.
What’s the best thing about being married?
As fun as it was – Not having to wedding plan anymore is great if we’re honest! But we’re just really looking forward to the next chapter in our lives!
