Happy Sunday lovelies! We’re heading up to the Lakes today to catch up with family, and hoping for a dry day with views! I hope you’ve got lovely Sunday plans too 🙂
I thought I’d share today’s beautiful wedding on the blog a little earlier than normal (because we all have Sunday things to do, don’t we?!) Emma and Stefan’s day is oh so elegant, with classic styling touches and plenty of summer sunshine. Emma looks stunning in a Mark Lesley dress, perfect for Prestwold Hall‘s sophisticated and timeless surroundings.
Prestwold is a beautiful country house and did not need much decoration. We stuck to decorating the tables for the wedding breakfast and a few things around the bar. The flowers were arranged by Lynn at Scent with Love. We all had a bouquet of peach Vuvuzela Roses, Memory lane Roses and gypsophila, posy style with a few diamantes and tied with satin ribbon.
Wedding photographer’s website:
After starting a google search for local photographers we knew we wanted someone to create those breathtaking shots. We came across Matt’s website and knew these were the types of images we wanted of our day. The one thing you get to take away from your wedding is the images, we love the candid nature of our photos, capturing those little moments without the pressure of having a camera in your face all day. We only went to see one photographer, once we met Matt and we discussed what we would like out of our images and what Matt could offer it was clear it was the perfect fit.
Matt was simply amazing. He could tell I was nervous and that I wasnt keen on having my picture taken but he managed to get some incredible shots of us getting ready. He was so personable and manged to make us all laugh. It was like we had known him for years. He managed to capture all the little details of the day, people having fun, some incredible dancing skills from our quests and some beautiful moments of us taking time for ourselves.
Our family and friends were very impressed with our final pictures.
We were very excited to go and see our images. It had been a couple of weeks since the big day and we really wanted to relive it.
It was such an emotional experience. We loved how every little detail was captured, what our tables looked like, the flowers, the dress, all the things I didn’t really think would need photographing but now seem so important. We were shocked at how impressive a number of images were. The best photo has to be outside of the venue. It looks so peaceful and a number of guests have since asked if we went back another day to get the shot. Amazing to think everyone was inside dancing the night away while we were getting the perfect photo. (Check out the last three images of the blog post – they’re amazing!)
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
perfect and filled with love and laughter
Your wedding style or theme:
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Our suppliers were found through family and friend recommendations or wedding fairs.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Try and do as much yourself. (The table plan was made by a friend, jams by the mother in law)
Also let others help, people often want to help make your day special.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The food. We are both foodies and really wanted to make sure that people had a great meal. People still tell us how nice it was and how much they enjoyed it.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Everything was made by one person or another. I found giving out the jobs to family and friends made it very easy. Also knowing when to spend money and when not to. You can get some great things from ebay.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I thought I had found ‘the dress’ after looking in a few places. My mum convinced me to look at one more shop with her so I did. It was then I tried on my dress and just knew it was the right one.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
We hired Enhance hair and make-up for the Bridal party.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
We played a game of Mr and Mrs. Most bits we were able to use from the venue, like the screen but we did make the paddles and signage for the game.
Our jam was also home made, and all put together with personalised stickers, ribbon and lace.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We were not interested in spending lots of money on the cake so we opted for chessecakes from the English Cheesecake Company and a cake from Patisserie Valerie.
Mango and Lime cheesecake,Toffee swirl cheesecake and a Chocolate Cake. (not a single piece left over)
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Our DJ Jameson at Mega Discos was amazing and very happy to play some alternative music for us.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Don’t sweat the small stuff. So many people told me that on the day little things wouldnt matter and I didn’t believe them. But its true. On the day you wont care if someone’s suit doesn’t fit or if people leave early. You will still have the most amazing day.
What’s the best thing about being married?
I feel that we are stronger together now. Officially a partnership and can start our own little family unit as husband and wife.
