Stunning bride Jill & Luke were married at Carlowrie Castle last year in a beautiful wedding full of glamour. Their minimal, elegant styling is wonderful – and set to be a big trend for 2018 / 2019 weddings! Jill wore a stunning Suzanne Neville gown and Jimmy Choo shoes, and Luke and his groomsmen were in black tie. Jill’s bridesmaids wore matching cowl back gold sequin dresses and also had a bridesman wearing his tux with a gold sequin bow tie.
Our wedding florist was recommended to us by Jen at Carlowrie Castle, who had used Vickys Flowers for her own wedding. We had pure white gypsophila with white roses for my own bouquet. Bridesmaids carried pure white gypsophila, Luke’s buttonhole was a white rose, and the groomsmen’s buttonholes were pure white gypsophila. The ceremony table had a pure white gypsophila arrangement, with white pillar boxes that had tall vases with pure white gypsophila.
Our decor was very minimal with the flowers being the main thing. For the ceremony and dinner we hired in gold chiavari chairs to tie in with our colour scheme. We had a white aisle runner with candles along the side. We bought the gold Laura Ashley frames and printed off the Disney couple silhouete pictures for our table names as well as spray painting two mirrors gold to present our table names on and signage of “Luke and Jill – Happily Ever After this way”
Wedding photographer’s website:
I was showing Luke the pictures that Jade had taken of a wedding at Carlowrie Castle. The purpose of this being to show him the beautiful venue. Not only did Luke love the venue, he was stunned by Jade’s work as it was the perfect example of how we wanted our pictures to look.
We were made to feel extremely at ease with Jade when me met with her in Crewe. The albums and images she showed us were beautiful and her style of natural, story telling, non intrusive photography was exactly what we wanted. Jade arrived at the castle on our wedding day and instantly got to work capturing every element of our day. At no point were we made to feel aware of her being there. Jade put everyone at ease and also kept us on time with the mornings schedule.
We were sooo excited to view our wedding pictures as it was the most perfect day and we couldn’t wait to view the images and reignite the amazing memories and feelings from the day. I cried with such joy from the first moment we opened them as Jade had captured moments and details of our day that made my heart beam with such joy and love. When we showed our pictures to our guests they were all own away by them. Stating it was the most magical day and that they had never seen wedding photography like it. Words like stunning, beautiful, amazing, breathtaking were all words that people said when they saw our pictures.
Your (first) names
Luke & Jill
Being the biggest Disney fan ever, it was a dream to have a castle for our wedding day. Carlowrie Castle was the one for us before we even drove up the magical drive way. Its beautiful grounds and exterior are stunning, but our favourite part was the modern and luxurious decor inside. Our guests kept saying how it is “Very Luke & Jill”
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

What’s your top tip for saving money?
Everything we wanted came with in our budget for each thing which was amazing.
The only thing we done ourselves was have our Bridesman spray two old mirrors gold so we could use them for our table names and a welcome sign which was written on by one of our bridesmaids. This added a beautiful touch to the day.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
We were extremely lucky with the costings as everything was either with in our budget or fate ensured it fell into place, for example the dresses for the bridesmaids were extremely pricey but by luck I phoned The Wedding Store in Motherwell and they were doing a promotion on them that saw us make a big saving on my dream dresses for the girls.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Wagtail designs that I stumbled across on Instagram. Kate went above and beyond for us. Constantly sending samples, variations and worked closely along side us via e-mails and phone calls right up until the last minute. Her patience and commitment to us was second to none.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I instantly fell in love with my wedding dress after trying countless ones on and never actually being certain on what I wanted. My only specification was for a detachable train so that I could be a fairytale Princess in the day and then take it off to have a slender, elegant lace fitted for the evening.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I chose champagne glitter Jimmy Choos for my wedding shoes. They were the last of their kind in the country and had to be shipped from Belfast to Scotland. They were like a Cinderella dream come true.
I was surprised on the morning of the wedding with a pair of beautiful diamond earings from Luke for me to wear.
And what did the groom wear?
Luke’s suit was tailored from Reiss as well as his shoes and shirt. He had a white rose from my wedding flowers on his lapel.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
The girls wore my dream bridesmaid dresses- Sorella Vita gold sequin dresses with a scoop back.
I also had a Bridesman who has been my best friend since Primary school. Paul had a custom made bow tie made from the cut offs of one of the girls dress alterations.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Make up- Rachael Hunter, Instagram @Rachael.Hunter

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Liggys Cakes- 3 tier lined icing cake.
Champagne, Vanilla and chocolate layers. We tried a sample at the Scottish wedding exhibition and booked it there and then.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Our music was made of Disney instrumental before the ceremony started. This was commented on by many guests who said it was so magical and enchanting.
I then walked down to Disney’s Wishes instrumental that used to be played at Walt Disney Worlds fireworks display.
Dinner again had instrumental Disney music with the start being made fun by playing Be our Guest from Beauty and the Beast.
We opted for a dh at night so we could all dance the night away to the songs sung by the bands and artists we love.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Take a moment just you two after the ceremony to laugh, smile, kiss and cuddle, taking in the moment that has just happened.
What’s the best thing about being married?
Knowing that you are spending the rest of your life with the person you love.
