James and Rose are just the loveliest couple! Their wonderfully creative wedding has a really classic English flavour – all the small details were prettily handcrafted, and Rose’s dress is just stunning. I do love a bride and groom with their own individual style and these two have it in spades!
Their wedding took place in the small Lancashire village of Croston. The wedding ceremony took place in St Michael’s Church and the reception was in the old school hall opposite the church.

The day started with James arriving in a vintage ‘Leyland Tiger’ bus from 1946, aptly named ‘Rosie’; hired from Cumbria Classic Coaches. After a few shots of James, we ran to avoid the torrential rain and found shelter in the church, then waited for the bride to arrive. After a short while Rose’s car arrived and I duly photographed the beautiful bride’s arrival to the church.
After a magical service I had the chance to photograph the couple in the majestic setting of St Michael’s, by which I made use of the amazing light emanating from the stained glass windows.
We then made the short journey over to the school hall to commence the party. The adults were well catered for; lots of great food and amazing music provided by the three piece jazz band, Djangobop; they had people up dancing straight away. The children weren’t left out, as a Punch and Judy show was set up for their entertainment. Maybe some of the children had never seen this type of show before, but it was great fun; although I think perhaps the adults enjoyed the show more than the children!’
