Today’s editorial feature is simply divine. I adore the natural colour palette, the earthy styling and dramatic florals – this is the perfect combination of grace and organics, and I hope you will love it as much as I do! I’ve heard some criticism of styled shoots recently (did you catch me on The Icing On The Cake podcast this week and last? Zoe did a brilliant job putting together interviews with me and Kat from Rock n Roll Bride where we shared our thoughts on wedding planning, trends and styled shoots! It’s worth a listen!) – namely that they can be too aspirational and expensive to recreate for a full scale wedding. Today’s shoot on the English Wedding Blog is perfect to me because the look is achievable: it’s beautiful in simplicity, the table arrangements are perfect for a display area being wild and natural, and the look created is laid back, uncomplicated and frankly a beautiful breath of fresh air.
Elopement is becoming more and more popular, and is something I’m a huge advocate of. Splash out a little on fabulous styling for your elopement: a statement bouquet and your guy in his favourite jumper is perfect – and affordable! – and then celebrate with a party later, where you don’t need a seating plan or centrepieces or linens… just a bar and your loved ones! Simple 🙂
I adore the colours of the blog today: if there’s one thing I’d love for you to take away from this feature it’s the soft, earthy tones which take their essence from the raw beauty of nature. What else would you expect from such a wonderful location: the amazing, legendary River Cottage. Oh, and those candles….
The shoot very much emulated a rural elopement. Set in the Axe Valley in Devon, River Cottage is in a peaceful setting, surrounded by rolling green hills and well and truly off the beaten path. Best known as being the home of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, it hosts weddings and other events.
The rich autumnal colours fit perfectly amongst the stone buildings and against the backdrop. The floral creations were wild and wispy creating fabulous dramatic effect. The overcast skies set the dramatic tone.
