Sarah and Iain’s intimate family wedding at Penton Park, with Lemontree Photography

Published by Claire Gould on

I stumbled across this gorgeous Hampshire wedding on the blog of Lemontree Photography – and totally loved everything about it. Sarah and Iain are gorgeous – their day is so perfectly charming I had to get in touch with Az at Lemontree and ask if we could share their images with you today. Lucky for me, he said yes, and Sarah and Iain have been lovely in sharing some of the details of their planning with you too!

We just wanted a relaxed atmosphere where people could be at ease. One of the reasons that we chose Penton Park was because it offered guests the chance to dance, stay at the bar, play snooker, have a go at some garden games or just relax in the sitting room or the swing seat in the grounds.

We researched online and loved Az’s pictures. We were extremely pleased with his work. What attracted us to Az’s pictures was the relaxed feel: there were very few staged shots. He has an amazing ability to capture people just having a good time. Az put us at ease on the day and was lovely to have at our wedding!

Az has captured the relaxed feel of our day perfectly and we were very pleased that the photographs were exactly what we wanted and had anticipated from seeing his previous work.

Wedding month:

August

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

Relaxed and perfect

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

The caterers, make up artist, garden games supplier and DJ were recommended by the venue (they were all superb). A family friend is a florist so organised my flowers.

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Prioritise things that you actually need or are really important to you. People won’t remember the colour of your chair covers, the pattern on the invite or what type of bag our favours came in.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

Garden games were an integral part to the day.
Everyone raved about the food.

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We ordered some from joeby design on amazon and made the rest ourselves.

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

I didn’t enjoy the experience of trying on dresses and felt pressure to find “the one”. After browsing online I found one that I liked and the fact that I could return it if I did not like it appealed. I liked my wedding dress but had found others that I liked and looked good. For me, it was not hugely important to me and I found the pressure of being told that “you will just know” quite stressful.

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Ordered online from phase eight at Debenhams.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

Shoes were from new look.

And what did the groom wear?

Suit from Moss Bros

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

No bridesmaids

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Hair was a family friend who has cut my hair forever.
Make up was done by Frances Moore who was at the Penton wedding fayre.

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)

Hannah Rose flowers based in Abbotts Ann near Andover.
They were simple white and pale pink.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

No decoration required Penton Park is stunning!

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

Parts of the invite (directions, RSVP etc)
Favours
Confetti cones with natural confetti
It was enjoyable to make some things for the wedding but knowing that the big things were being sorted by our suppliers.

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

My Mum made the cake. She used to make many wedding/christening cakes but stopped a while ago but always said she would make mine. We had a fruit cake.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

We had a DJ organised by Penton.

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Don’t get hung up on the details. Marrying the person you love is the most important thing about your day. No need to stress the little things!

What’s the best thing about being married?

Sharing your life with the person you love.
