Find fabulously eclectic props, fairground & garden games, and wedding decor – The Prop Factory

Published by Claire Gould on

Before you even begin to think about styling your wedding, have a peek online at English Wedding Directory member The Prop Factory and their gorgeous range of ideas and things to hire for your big day. They’ve got the kind of beautiful velvet antique chairs you see in every styled shoot; they have brilliant fairground-style garden games for your guests; antique props and light-up letters… in fact it would probably be easier for me to list the bits and pieces you can’t hire from them!

Lovely Carmen from The Prop Factory told me a little about what they do. “We spend most of our day making and foraging materials. We use a lot of recycled materials, so much so we are aiming for over half of our products to be made from recycled materials in 2018. We hoard and collect pretty bits of wood, old pallets, broken furniture and interesting fabric and make them into beautiful props!

“Themes we love are Circus, Wonderland, Boho, Beach + Tropical. Our inspiration comes mostly from times gone by. I love old children’s books, vintage circus and fairground imagery, and old seaside paraphernalia. We have lots of colourful props that are hand made and painted. Our favourite part of the job is seeing what people do with our props!

The Prop Factory began as a University project in 2011 while I was studying Graphic Design. It combined my love of making things, social media and graphics. When I finished university 7 months later it was a full time job, and all I have ever done since I left nearly 6 years ago!

I’m a total maker and a magpie. My favourite thing is to find ‘pretty’ bits of wood and make a beautiful and totally unique prop. The first time people add that prop to their order I always get a buzz that someone likes it!

In 2018 The Prop Factory have a recycling incentive where they are going to try and make as much of their props as possible from recycled materials. I’ll be following their story on Facebook – I hope you’ll join me and show them some love!
