Osea Island is paradise personified. The venue only needed a few touches to make our Gatsby theme come to life!
In the months leading up to the wedding my flat looked like a storage depot mixed with a mad artist with a penchant for glitter, ribbon and foam board. A shout out to my amazing girlfriends who DIY’d into the stratosphere with me and forgave my toddler like meltdowns (e.g. world is now ending because one shade of gold ribbon is different than the other :/) I so owe them.
My sister-in-law was scheduled to be our photographer – but unfortunately at the last minute she was unable to attend the wedding. I was in a panic – overwhelmed by planning and unable to process any major changes. My husband really stepped up and through the magic of Google and Ayshea’s amazing and captivating site he knew she was the one. Once I spoke to her – and she was warm – I knew we were in good hands. And we were.

Every time I look at the photos I get to relive my wedding over and over again. Ayshea also picked up on little details I never would have captured or even remembered!
The moment I saw our wedding photos for the first time I screamed! I was like, who is this couple? We look like the best version of ourselves. Sleek – but still authentically us. We’re also not insanely demonstrative people – so to see our faces so full of love and adoration for each other is wonderful.

What’s your top tip for saving money?
eBay, amazon and DIY – paint, ribbon and glitter can make most things amazing! You can also ask Bars and Restaurants to hold on to empty bottles to use as table decorations. Buy your fabric from sari shops – I got 70 yards of Japanese Chiffon for less than £70.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Decorations (Edison Bulbs, posters, etc.)– definitely helped to set the mood. Party favors (custom flashlights) and stocking each cottage kitchen with groceries – helped to foster a communal feel
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We created a website which served as invites and save the dates. For menus, and signs we hired a designer to create the initial graphics and borders and created the rest ourselves in powerpoint.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I did – it was all lace and crystals and pearls. I’d never imagined anything like it – but it was everything I needed. I felt like magic.
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I wore a custom Gatsby headband as a belt, drop crystal earrings from Liberty in Love and Badgley Mischka crystal flats. Kelly wore a slim-fit Calvin Klein navy blue tux with Calvin Klein patent leather shoes.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Navy blue satin mermaid dresses from David’s Bridal with Gatsby inspired jewelry
We used two Florists – Jam Jar for the table settings: White and Black Ranunculus, White Anemones with dark blue centres and branches in Old brass shell cases and St. Germain bottles. A local florist supplied the Bridal flowers: White Rancunculus, White Anemones with dark blue centers, White roses.
Our cake was three tiered – square shaped with art deco decorations. Kelly and I aren’t really cake people – so we choose three different flavors on each tier to try to cater to multiple tastes.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Hired a DJ – but the Coupe de grace was (drumroll please….) Karaoke!! Instead of a first dance we did Oasis’ Wonderwall.
On the day tips and advice:
BREATHE! Understand that what’s done is done – no sense stressing over small details that no one else will notice or remember. I spent months picking the right playlists just for one to not have been played – did anyone notice? Nope. Exactly. Also surround yourself with people who will calm you – planning a wedding (for most people) is a marathon not a sprint. Save your energy so you can make it to the finish line in a good emotional place.
What’s the best thing about being married?
You’ll never have to do it again! Hahaha! I would say seeing your tribe – your friends and family in one place – getting to have an amazing magical weekend with your favorite foods, drinks, and music – all with the love of your life. Memories that will last a lifetime.
