This year has flown by – I’ve been burning the candle both ends and hopping around on a broken foot while I do it (I know – nightmare!). The new Directory and Shop on English Wedding are happily taking over my life and I can’t believe it’s going to be April in just a few weeks’ time! I’ll soon be taking to the road with my calligraphy workshops and I’m thrilled to say we’ve added a new date to our diaries. Would you like to join me on the 19th of May? It would be lovely to meet some of you… and of course there’s a discount for any pro photographers who’d like to join us and take some pics we can use on the blog over the summer. (Message me!)
I’ll be teaching at Manchester Craft & Design Centre from 1pm on Friday the 19th of May. The workshop is two and a half hours long, and in that time you’ll learn how to write a modern calligraphy script with a proper old school dip pen, nib and ink pot (all of which you can keep and take home in your calligraphy kit when we’re done!)
Learning calligraphy is a wonderful pre-wedding activity and we have lots of brides-to-be with their best girls or mums attending the workshops. (And I LOVE the friendly competition this creates!) You’ll soon know enough to be using your skills on your invitations, place names, making calligraphy stamps of monograms or return addresses for your RSVPs… the ways you can use calligraphy for your wedding are endless.
If you’d like to come and learn calligraphy with me in May I’ll be delighted to see you there. Please book early, as we have been selling out workshops pretty fast! Everything you need to know is here – booking is online and super simple.
Images by lovely Jenny Heyworth Photography. I taught Jenny in the summer and both she and her mum were a pleasure to teach and took to lettering like ducks to water!
