I’ve fallen head over heels for this enchanting winter wedding. Katie’s Jesus Peiro dress is fabulous – she’s truly radiant in every shot and the dress fits their elegant, minimal style so beautifully. I love the rays of sunshine and how magical the early evening portraits look – and the little details for your Pinterest boards make this gorgeous day a perfect English Wedding Blog feature.
I originally headed to Marrime Bridalwear to try on a Pernovia, long sleeve, backless dress, so to finally leave with a halterneck and full skirt Jesus Peiro dress was a complete surprise. I would not have even considered the dress on the hanger, if it wasn’t for my mum and bridesmaid. Reluctantly, I tried it on; yet, it was the only dress that resulted in numerous tears and a huge smile. It even had pockets… I was in love!
Moral of the story: your mum and bridesmaid really do know you best.

We came across Camilla at a local wedding fayre; she was the light at the end of the tunnel on what had seemed to be a hopeless day. Camilla was so friendly and warm during this meeting; the icing on the cake was the her photography style, natural and in the moment.
We were so lucky to have found Camilla; she was truly fantastic, every step of the way! From the helpful advice and guidance, the relaxed yet precise planning meeting, the reassuring texts, her ability to place everyone at ease, to the stunning, natural and ‘in the moment photographs’… Camilla was perfect!
We were both incredibly excited to see the photos; so much so, we actually sat outside the post office looking through the photos. We genuinely couldn’t wait to get home and they certainly didn’t disappoint… they were stunning! We were truly lost for words! Throughout the wedding day there were times we completely forgot that Camilla was there; yet, she had beautifully captured both the significant moments and those that had appeared to slip by quietly. The pictures allowed us to replay every tear, smile and moment.
“I loved working Katie and Tony’s wedding. Healey Barn is a a beautiful renovated barn that’s been hosting weddings for just over 18 months now and is surrounded by wonderful hills and fields. I chose this wedding to share on the English Wedding Blog because firstly, they are just simply a stunning couple! And secondly, Katie’s eye for detail is just fabulous to shoot. She wanted the whole day to feel ‘fresh’ with just greens and whites for the floral colours as well as having many different details dotted around the venue, like a Polaroid camera, a hand written chalk board ‘order of the day’ and table plan. As well as the numerous amount of flowers everywhere, and not forgetting her Manolo Blahniks to wear for the day!
I think what made the day so amazing for me is all the emotion during the entire day. I love shooting tears, (happy ones!), and laughter, and I got that in buckets full with Katie’s father getting emotional on their first look, Tony’s look on his face when he first saw Katie, and the laughter that happened during the ceremony when Tony said a few words wrong. For me it’s getting a shot of those moments that makes me incredibly happy. Oh, and Katie’s willingness to walk through muddy fields on a VERY cold December day definitely helped me get some wonderful sunset shots!” ~ Camilla Lucinda Photography

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Simple, natural and elegant – we had hoped we would achieve the latter.
Your wedding style or theme:
Simple and natural- lots of foliage, white flowers and twinkly lights. Simplicity at its best.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
All known personally or previously.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
DIY crafts and shopping around for items really helped cut costs. For example, the paper flower garlands cost only £10 to make but were an effective way of dressing the windows.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
We both love food, so food was certainly a priority. The fact that Healey Barn offered simple but delicious food was perfect.
We also felt that the venue was crucial, we had wanted an intimate, simple and relaxed wedding and the Barn was perfect for achieving this.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Pinterest became my bible and this is where I had seen a particular design… determined, we trailed the internet endlessly. Luckily, we stumbled across the designer on Etsy (Stephanie Anne Charlotte).
Stephanie’s design summed up the natural and simple theme of the wedding. We were able to take the foliage wreath design and personalise it. Stephanie could not have been more helpful!
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I had always longed for a pair of Manolo Blahniks and thought that the wedding provided a great opportunity to indulge; although, Tony may have argued otherwise! My shoes were Grey suede and matched the & Other Stories cashmere shawl.
And what did the groom wear?
Tony wore a navy suit and a grey waistcoat, both were tailored by Brian Kelly. In opting for a bespoke design, Tony was able to personally select the material, lining design and cut.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
The bridesmaids wore the Alfred Sung D699 dress, in oyster and ivory. The Sung dresses were structured and simplistic, matching the design of my dress. The bridesmaids also wore Kurt Geiger patent court shoes in oyster, a pearl hairpin and a light grey, cashmere shawl (& Other Stories).
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
All hair was completed by Claire Nash, my hairdresser and friend for over 15 years. Lucy Jack, from Nu Beauty, Carlisle, completed ensured we were photo ready. Both Claire and Lucy have such a natural style and are extremely meticulous, great for the wedding
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
I was rather particular about the flowers as this was going to be a significant part of decoration. Harriet, at Flowers Unlimited, was incredibly helpful and was able to deliver beyond my expectations.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Healey Barn was the only option for our wedding as it was so simply stunning, just as it was. Therefore, we didn’t want to detract from this, so decoration was kept to a simple and to a minimum. Lots of foliage and fairy lights helped achieve this.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
Luckily, my Mum and I are quite arty, so the diy craft came quite easily and were enjoyable. However, if you had asked this after 6 hours of making paper flowers, we may have argued otherwise.
The Paper flower garlands were created with translucent paper and fish wire and were used to simply decorate the tall windows.
Another success was the creation of a Tipi for entertaining children, using white material, branches and more fairy lights of course!
My mum also completed a number of upcyles, using vintage frames and a suitcase.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
A simple and elegant two tier, round cake, decorated with white flowers and foliage
One layer was a Victoria sponge and one was a lemon.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We used a popular, local (Cumbria) band called Highly Strung – they offer an acoustic set which, we felt, matched the laid back style of the wedding.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Everyone says it but ensure you take time out together- allow time to take it all in!
What’s the best thing about being married?
To be confirmed… ?
