Jessica and Jonathan’s beautiful English summer wedding at Ewshot Hall, with Susan Arnold Photography
Happy Sunday lovelies! I hope you’re looking forward to a relaxing day – but before you head out anywhere, I have one of the loveliest summer weddings to inspire you today! Jess & Jon’s wedding took place at a pretty Surrey church with a reception at the beautiful Ewshot Hall in Farnham. It was an elegant but relaxed country house wedding with a beautiful colour palette of soft muted greys, whites and pinks.
Gill Pike was my florist. She is amazing. I gave her my themes and colours and let her work her magic with very little input. The flower arch looked stunning.
Gemma from Harper’s Events was in charge of decorating the venue. All of the guests commented on how elegant it looked, we loved the big illuminating letters.
We also had Victoria from Extremely Lovely Weddings decorate the venue. She was so creative and had beautiful fake trees which made such a difference to the look of the room. Victoria also provided extra bits such as a DIY photobooth , basket of flip flops and a basket of blankets for outside. We would highly recommend these suppliers to anyone getting married.
Images are by the fabulous Susan Arnold Photography. She comes very highly recommended by Jessica and Jonathan (see their review below the images) and we adore her style too! Discover more here:

How did you choose your photographer?
Susie was highly recommended by a close friend of ours who was in charge of organising our big day.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Susie was amazing! It can be quite daunting having your picture taken all day however, Susie put all of us at ease and made us feel comfortable. Susie would always listen to our ideas in regards to what photos we wanted and she ensured all of the special moments were captured during our big day. Photos are so important because it’s something you will always keep and look back on. We were delighted with our photos and we would highly recommend Susie.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
It was quite emotional looking back at the photos because all you want to do is turn back time and re live such a magical day. It is so important to have good quality pictures because it’s something you will always look back on and smile about.
We got married at St Mary’s church in Farnham and the reception was at Ewshot Hall in Farnham, this is not an official wedding venue however, we were lucky enough to have the pleasure of celebrating our marriage in such a beautiful property and location.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Magical, fun, beautiful and perfect
Your wedding style or theme:
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Guildford-based events/wedding planner Rosanna organised our wedding. Rosanna sourced all of our suppliers and ensured that they were all of a high standard. She is extremely professional and well organised: she delivered on every level and made the day run perfectly from start to finish. We would highly recommend her to anyone.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Weddings are expensive so it’s important you agree a budget before the big day and try to stick to it! We created a spreadsheet to keep a record of what we needed and what money was being spent on.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
photography , catering and good hair and makeup.
The food we had was outstanding and delivered to a very high standard. The whole process run by Caper and Berry was exceptional.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
It took me a long time to find the right dress. I was not sure what style I wanted and felt that nothing suited me. When you do eventually find the right one you will know. I absolutely loved my dress!
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
Essence of Austrailia
The bridal boutique was Isabella Grace in Tunbridge Wells. The ladies in there are lovely and really helpful. It is a stunning boutique and well worth a look!
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I got my jewellery from Miss Kay (this was the boutique I used for my alterations). This shop is also in Tunbridge Wells. They had really unusual peices of jewellery and I was able to try things on with my dress.
And what did the groom wear?
Traditional top hats and tails which was hired for the one day.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My bridesmaids dresses were from Tesco! All the dresses we looked at were quite pricey, I saw the multi wear bridesmaid dresses online and they were perfect. All of the girls looked beautiful.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Caroline James did my hair and makeup and she was fantastic. I was so pleased with both my hair and makeup. It’s important to get it right because it’s what makes you feel and look great.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We had a 3 tier cake with a simple design. We used speciality cakes who were able to incorporate my colours into the design of the cake. We had a different flavour in each tier.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a band which we loved! They played a variety of songs and got everyone on the dance floor which again was something really important to us! We wanted everyone to party and have a good time dancing. It’s crucial you choose a good band/Dj.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
The day goes so fast so make sure as a newly married couple you take time out during the day to take everything in. It’s easy to get carried away talking to all of your guests and before you know it the day comes to an end.
What’s the best thing about being married?
Looking forward to a future full of new and exciting adventures as Mr & Mrs.
