I adore this wedding. Bolton Abbey is amazing – what a superb location for gorgeous, memorable wedding photos, don’t you think?! Today’s gorgeous bride Vicky’s couture dress is stunning; I love Howard’s outfit, they just look perfect together. And the festoon lighting and sparklers… absolutely incredible. LOVE it all!!!
I chose my dress which was from Lyn Ashworth by Sarah Barrett as I loved her lace detail. I didn’t find a specific dress that had all the elements I wanted but the Lyn Ashworth collection gives you the option to pick one element from one dress and add it to another dress which was perfect. I put all my favorite elements together and made a bespoke dress that I absolutely loved and felt amazing in.
Our reception venue was tepees in the grounds of the bride’s parents house. We personally decorated the tepees with bunting and paper lanterns and also added fairy lighting and festoon lighting, disco ball, a rustic gift table, love sign and photograph wall of the hen and stag dos.
We wanted to add a few different personal touches such as a sparkler path where our guests lit sparklers around us outside the tepees before our first dance. We had a fire pit in the tepees so decided for our favors we would have marshmallows for our guests to toast. The favor tag read ‘Where family, friends and marshmallows all get toasted’. We also had a photograph wall with all the pictures taken from the hen and stag dos. We also had pictures of our family members which a sign saying ‘As some of our family are in heaven, there is a bit of heaven at our wedding. We also made instead of name cards for the tables we had individual pictures of each guest. My husband made the table plan, guest sign (instead of a guest book) and L O V E sign out of pallets and decorated with fairy lights to keep in with the rustic theme.
Images are by wonderful Yorkshire wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell:
“This is a wedding which will stay with me for a long time, this was a couple who had such a strong bond with their friends and families; Vicky had so many girl friends that she ended up with with eight bridesmaids because she simply couldn’t choose any over the others. The bridal preparations that morning were so much fun, laughter and tears abounded, especially when Vicky watched the video that her bridesmaids had made for her featuring her hen night, their times together as friends and with a cameo performance from Howard.
“The venue for the wedding was a Papakata teepee on the land next door to Vicky’s parents’ home. There was a little gate going from the orchard into the field where the teepee had been set up. There was a really relaxed vibe to this wedding which was accentuated by having the Papakata teepee, it was quite rustic and fitted in well to the rural setting. A great venue/ location.”~ Suzy Mitchell Photography

How did you choose your photographer?
Suzy came high recommended, a few of our friends have used her in the past and said how amazing and friendly she is. We also wanted a local photographer who had experience at the ceremony venue. We had seen Suzy’ pictures and fell in love with them.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We were over the moon with our pictures. We knew they would be amazing but they exceeded our expectations. We wanted very few formal photographs and asked Suzy to take more relaxed photos. We didn’t have to say anything else as we knew she knew exactly what she was doing and trusted her completely. The way she captured every special moment was amazing and the way she was more like another member of the wedding party and how she made us feel at ease all day was just brilliant. She really does have a special gift and she made our wedding incredible.

Brides, try not to stress so much about all the planning as everything comes together on the day and the elements you initially worry about aren’t even important on the day.The whole planning experience goes so quick and the big day arrives so quickly so just enjoy every moment of all the exciting organizing.
