No two bouquets are ever the same – I think I have the best job in the world, seeing so many beautiful flowers and being able to share the inspiration with you, every day! Today’s are so, so pretty and colourful – the perfect touch for our stunning bride Carly and her perfect match, gorgeous groom Simon.
I love daisies, they are my favourite. So we went with wild flowers for my bouquet, the head table and the centre pieces. My bridesmaids had plain gypsophila bouquets wrapped in hessian. My flower girls had heart wands wrapped in hessian, lace and a few sprigs of gypsphila. My florist was Little Gems Flowers based in Swindon
We hired out vintage chairs with blush tie backs. We had a star drop curtain behind head table and a 5ft LOVE sign that lit up the room. We also had fairy lights draping the ceiling. The tables I decorated myself, the centrepeices, table runners and favours all added to the decoration. I loved making things for our wedding – I don’t know what to do in my spare time now! Everything we could make we did. Favours, centrepieces, personalised wine glass charms for all our day guests, jewellery, confetti cones… It makes it all extra special. I love that we put such a personal touch on our big day and everyone picked up on all the small details. That made it all worth while.
Images are by the very lovely Rachel Jane Photography, who you can discover more from here!
Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
We love Rachel’s style of photography. It’s softer than most. The tone & style of Rachel’s photos were well suited to our wedding theme.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Rachel took lots of natural shots and she was so creative with our couple shots & portraits. She made it comfortable & fun. I would recommend her to anyone!
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
When rachel sent us the link, we were so excited to get home and look through them! When we were looking through them, we realised how much we actually forgot about the little details that happened through the day! We were so pleased with our photos! They brought all the emotions back, I ended up crying… again!

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
An overwhelming, emotional, memorable day. The perfect wedding day.
Your wedding style or theme:
Vintage Manor House
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
We went to a few wedding fayres which are so much fun.. we found a lot of our suppliers there. We also had a few recommendations.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
DIY DIY DIY! I literally made EVERYTHING myself. It makes it so much cheaper and it means so much more because you’ve put so much into every detail yourself. I loved it!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Definitely our photographer! I would never advise anyone to scrimp on a photographer for your big day. After the day is up all you have left is the memories and photographs to capture it.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
A labour of love! Me & my husband designed the invites & menus etc then had them professionally printed. It was the toughest DIY job I think. At that point of planning its the thing that sets your theme off!
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Absolutely fell in love. Makes me emotional now looking at it hung up in my bedroom knowing I wont get to wear it again. It was stunning, my dream dress!
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
The dress was called ‘REY’ in the Pollardi Daria Karlozi range.
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My shoes were nude Ted Bakers. My earrings, they were a gift from my husband on the morning of my wedding, they are Tiffany, simple pearls – I’m in love with them. My droplet knecklace, I made myself! Our rings are from Ernest Jones.
And what did the groom wear?
We went travelling in March around Vietnam. We thought it would be extra special if we had his suit made there! So we did. We chose the fabric, the inner fabric & the design of the suit. Was so much fun and it looked amazing. We also had the best mans suit made. Simon also had all the bow ties & handkerchiefs made out there in a tartan material. For all the ushers and the best man. We added braces to the outfit. The guys looked pretty awesome!
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
The five bridesmaids wore five different pastel colours in the same style. The dresses were lace ontop with floaty skirts and corseted back. The flower girls wore little white dresses with loose petals in the skirts.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Mine and my bridesmaids hair was done by La Beauté Hair Studio in Swindon. Our makeup was done by Quinn & Miller also based in Swindon. They all came to the venue on the morning of our wedding.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We didnt go traditional because we don’t like fruit cake. So we had 4 tiers, 3 flavours. Chocolate sponge, vanilla sponge and lemon sponge. The smallest layer we made sure was gluten free so everyone could enjoy a peice. Each layer was a different light pastel colour, wrapped in white lace icing. The stand was a huge log that we had hand carved. The decoration on the cake was icing shaped into wild flowers to match my bouquet. We are having them put into a box Frame so we can keep them.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a live band at the wedding. It was amazing! Really got the atmosphere going and everyone on the dance floor. They are called The Shadow Monkeys and cover a range of songs. Something for everyone.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Enjoy the planning together, it’s part of it. Make sure you spend as much time together on the day as you can. It goes so quickly so take it all in!
I’m glad we had a videographer for the ceremony too. At that point I was so nervous so couldn’t take it in but now we have something to look back on every anniversary!
What’s the best thing about being married?
Feeling secure, your like a little team! Nothing’s stronger than husband & wife. It seals the deal! You become one. It’s a nice feeling.
