Annie and Chris had a truly unique wedding – they know some amazing people and through friends they were able to marry at London’s fabulous Lyric Theatre – which gave their wedding so much personality and atmosphere, it’s just fabulous! The flowers are bright and colourful, styling is elegant and theatrical… and today’s bride and groom are as gorgeous as they are lovely. Images are by Sussex photographer Neil Walker.

We used bright spring colours for our flowers – peaches, lilacs, yellows & pinks. James from Detta Phillips is brilliant – they looked spectacular.
Don’t miss Chris and Annie’s wise advice (and genuine supplier recommendations) for you lovely lot, which you’ll find just after the photos if you scroll through the full feature today. “We designed and made our wedding stationery ourselves. It was a really enjoyable experience and we were really proud of our handiwork once they were finished. We made place cards and table plan in the same style as the invitations. Our navy & burgundy spotty theme ran throughout from the save the dates to the orders of ceremony and menus. We also designed print-outs of readings and songs to frame & sign with messages as thank you gifts.”
Most of our suppliers we knew through work. Chris works in events and Annie works in theatre. Wise Productions provided stunning lighting to enhance the already fabulous features at Old Finsbury. Some of the Wise guys were doing lighting & sound when Chris proposed on stage so it was great to have their friendly faces there on the day!
“Annie & Chris’s wedding was a whirlwind of locations & theatre scenes. I must have covered more ground than any other wedding I’ve shot. From South London to Blackfriars, to Covent Garden to Finsbury. Shooting a wedding on stage at The Lyric Theatre is a pretty unique event & Annie & Chris made the most of it.
The Lyric Theatre was an unusual & wonderful venue for the ceremony. Annie & Chris used it to make the most of their friends & family’s performing talents. Old Finsbury Town Hall also perfectly suited their wedding. Full of style & flamboyance, the reception was full of singing & dancing pretty much from the moment we arrived.” ~ Neil Walker Photography
“Your photos are amazing! We are absolutely thrilled with them. Thanks again – it was a real pleasure having you there on our big day.” ~ Annie & Chris

Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
Recommendation from a fellow wedding photographer who was not available on our date.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Absolutely! We knew we wanted Neil after our first meeting, he was friendly, relaxed & really knew his stuff.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
We were on our honeymoon when Neil let us know that the first photos were going up on facebook. They were everything we wanted, we were so happy with them we must have gone through the album about 10 times straight away!
Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue (by special permission from the owner who Annie works for as a PA) followed by Old Finsbury Town Hall for the Reception.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
A unique London wedding personal to us, fun for guests!
Your wedding style or theme:
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Get married off season & ask nicely for discounts – you might get lucky!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Having good quality photographs was important to us as they last forever. Also, our rings were designed and made by the jeweller in Ireland who made Annie’s mother’s engagement ring in 1966 (which Chris proposed with) so the cost was not really a consideration there.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Definitely! It’s a shame you only get to wear it once.
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
Mori Lee at London Bride. I had tried the dress on in Bristol as nowhere in London had a sample but London Bride stock the Mori Lee range so were able to order in that style number and provide an alterations service. The staff there were great, so friendly & helpful.
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I wore Tiffany pearl earrings bought by Chris as a birthday present and I borrowed my veil from one of my oldest schoolfriends. I bought my shoes from Monsoon in the sale – comfort was my top priority – but I didn’t end up wearing them for the whole evening as Chris had given me personalised converse as my wedding day gift.
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
A 3 piece tailored navy suit and tailored white shirt from Dress to Kill in Waterloo (the service was amazing – highly recommended!). Burgundy Bow tie with white spots from Mrs Bow Tie and matching pocket square. Lego cufflinks from Etsy. Brown brogues from Sweeney.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Long, navy dresses with bright colour detail around the neckline from Little Mistress. They have a great selection of special occasion dresses costing much less than traditional bridesmaid dresses.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I did my own make-up following a lesson at Bobbi Brown. My friend Emily is a hairdresser so she styled my hair and also all 4 bridesmaids. She is VERY talented.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We chose to have a tower of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in different flavours. Safe to say these were a hit!
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
To create an after dinner cocktail bar ambience, we were lucky enough to have Lee Ormsby from the Charing Cross Players bar to play the piano and sing popular songs to get guests in the mood for dancing later. Lee also provided background music for our drinks reception and first dance. Our DJ from The Mobile Music Company was fantastic; the dancefloor was full all night.
On the day tips and advice:
Enjoy yourself – don’t feel duty bound to find every guest, they will find you! Don’t drink too much and make sure the two of you have time alone during the day.
What’s the best thing about being married?
Everything is much the same, just better!
Favourite supplier list for other brides and grooms:
The most amazing canapés, dinner and late night snacks you could imagine! We were able to design our menu with chef Karl Thomas and choose our favourite foods. The staff on the day were incredible, everything ran like clockwork & they are such a pleasure to work with.
Nick Daniell & Lucy Rutledge arranged a tasting for us at our home and helped us choose fantastic wines within our budget.
