Restless Souls… an ethereal, hauntingly beautiful bridal inspiration feature with Susan Arnold Photography

You know when something is so beautiful it takes your breath away? When you’re captivated by an image which stays in your mind for days, weeks even? I’ve been sharing sneak peeks of today’s ethereal bridal inspiration shoot across all of my social media for weeks… and the haunting aesthetic steals my heart every time I catch a glimpse of the images.

Every inspiration shoot is based around a theme. Ours was a bride yearning for her love to return to her: a love so strong her belief could never fade, never wane. This timeless aesthetic fits beautiful with the location of the shoot: the crumbling walls of Scadbury’s moated manor.

There’s a haunting beauty to this place. It evokes a certain atmosphere of solitude and timelessness. Our bride waits for her lover to return, cradling his words in a wistful, romantic and endlessly inspiring setting. Emily Bronte would have fallen hard for this enchanting manor…

Be with me always – take any form – drive me mad! only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! it is unutterable! I can not live without my life! I can not live without my soul!’

We’ve braved its ghosts often together, and dared each other to stand among the graves and ask them to come. But, Heathcliff, if I dare you now, will you venture? If you do, I’ll keep you. I’ll not lie there by myself: they may bury me twelve feet deep, and throw the church down over me, but I won’t rest till you are with me. I never will!

The romantic, ethereal theme inspired a delicate, pale wedding cake with the gentlest touch of ice blue and floral detailing. I wrote a calligraphy invitation suite with the softest, barely-there grey inks. The tablescape featured draped sheer fabrics and vintage cutlery, silverware and handwritten place names on smoky grey linens.

The florals are stunning, with tons of greenery and palest white blooms, accented here and there with a pop of pink, and berries for texture. Joanne Truby is a master of her craft! Dresses by Stewart Parvin (from the fabulous Frou Frou) evoke the timelessness of our love story; his classic styling with contemporary touches works seamlessly for our ethereal bride.
