Today, you lucky and lovely people, we’re excited to share an elegant wedding inspiration shoot. We love the style and story behind the images, which are beautifully illuminating and inspired by a colour palette of olive greens, chocolate browns, rich reds, rose golds and champagne creams. Oh, and isn’t this the most amazing bouquet since, like, ever?
Today tells the story of Roberto and Angelina, childhood sweethearts from the historical town of St Ives. They spent their teenage years having picnics by the river, taking long walks and watching the sun set over the Cambridgeshire countryside. After leaving the family home to follow his dream of traveling the world, Roberto returned five years later with a desperate need to see Angelina again. Even across the oceans his heart never left hers. Now back, he vowed that if he ever left again, he would take her with him as his wife.
Married in the stone built chapel a short walk from home, Angelina wore her wedding present – a pair of Harriet Wilde shoes with a striking heel of delicate silver leaves and cherry blossom flowers. Her layered tulle bridal gown by Blue by Enzoani swished and swayed as she walked to meet her true love Roberto. She held a delicate bouquet of Vuvulela Gold, Queens of Africa Roses, Chocolate Cosmos, Asparagus Fern, Astrantia and Eucalyptus all tied together with silk ribbons…
There has been a huge change in wedding bouquets over the years; from petite compact designs to large statement pieces. Brides are more knowledgeable than ever on flower and plant material when it comes to their wedding day. They are more in tune on the seasonal availability and what is trending at that particular time of year.
Taking this into consideration, Angelina’s bouquet was designed as a statement piece, whilst still maintaining an overall romantic, foraged look. A variety of shimmering foliage was used to achieve this, the garden style roses (Vuvulela Gold), were the perfect match for Chocolate Cosmos and the divine, sweet scent that surrounded them. The bouquet was hand tied with satin, linen and silk ribbon in various tones to add interest and depth.
This season’s wedding cakes are getting more creative and imaginative. Metallics are proving a popular choice on wedding cakes, mixed alongside the natural look and flow of flowers. It is so delicate and works perfectly in both grand manor houses to rustic, scenic settings. The cake used in the shoot is decorated with hand crafted sugar flowers – Dahlia, Astrantia, Cosmos and Chinese Jasmine. Thus, creating a natural feel with similar colours and flowers to the real ones that were used in the wedding bouquet. The final touch was a dusting of gold to finish the look off with a sprinkle of elegance.
Inspiration for the wedding stationery came from this year’s trend of Rose Gold. The soft, subtle colour adds a little romantic shimmer to this clean design. A chic and modern wedding invitation set on luxury pearlescent card, which sets a classy tone for wedding guests and gives a wonderful first impression of the forthcoming wedding day.
This year’s brides are all about natural beauty, soft hues of peach and gold, flushed cheeks and highlighter on cheekbones. Dewy skin is always a winner for brides. You only need to look at Alberta Ferretti’s spring and summer 2016 fashion show collection to see the beautiful soft glow created for their models. The inspiration for the makeup used in the shoot was taken from the romantic feel we wanted to evoke coupled with the splash of golds, soft bronzes and champagne creams that ran through the styling theme.
Pinterest has provided a huge inspiration for brides when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding hair up do and fishtail plaits are making a real showcase this season. We knew we wanted to incorporate a plaint into Angelina’s style. Her hair was so versatile to work with that it was easy to create the soft, tussled up style we used in the shoot. Lady Evelyn’s ethereal inspired tiara made from vintage gold and pearl and crystal flowers, sat just above the plait and created a feminine, yet angelic finish.
