What else does your wedding photographer do? I love that every creative person I know has another string to their bow… some photographers also shoot sports, or families, specialise in SEO or designer stationery. For Jo and Nic (Jo Hansford Photography) it’s something a little more exciting… and I LOVE this shoot!

We’re Jo and Nic, who have been capturing weddings all over UK, overseas in Italy and Spain together since 2003 – over 350 weddings and counting! In 2012 we decided to add a new string to our bow and we started capturing horses. Having grown up loving riding and horses, I was fascinated to capture these stunning, majestic animals in the artform of still photographs.
By the beginning of 2016, it felt like time to combine our two big passions in a creative shoot with horses and brides. Needless to say, we also wanted to do something a bit different!
In 2014 we were commissioned by the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art to capture the horses and riders of the school in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. This was an honour, and as part of our shoot, we photographed a stunning white stallion,’ Vejador’ in one of the rooms of the palace, the Palacio Recreo de las Cadenas – you can see one of the resulting photographs here (http://www.johansfordphotography.com/badminton-horse-trials-the-royal-andalusian-school-of-equestrian-art-shot-of-the-week/)
So we decided to try something similar in UK, and when we found a Somerset wedding venue that was willing to let us have a horse not just outside, but inside their Great Hall, Crowcombe Court, we jumped at the opportunity!
We gathered a team of suppliers together and planned the shoot. As well as the “horse inside the hall” shot, I wanted to capture some Bohemian, beautiful images of a bride in a lovely gown, with a white horse, showing the love and connection between them, and the beauty of both.
Here are the results, we hope you like!
