I LOVE today’s real wedding! It’s soooo pretty… all the delicate pinks and the fabulous venue work together beautifully. And Alex & Gareth are just gorgeous! It’s just perfect, in every detail. If you’re looking for the prettiest feminine wedding style inspiration, you’ll love this!
For flowers we used Myrtle and Mint. They were absolutely amazing! Charlotte was there to answer I had any questions I had, or me changing my mind on things, right up until the wedding. When the flowers arrived, they were more beautiful than what I had expected. I was blown away. I would recommend them highly.
Our venue was absolutely beautiful in its own right, so it didn’t need much decoration. However, we wanted to make sure we put our own stamp on our day and get our personalities across. We made a giant ‘guest book’ with every guest’s photo printed, that they could sign and write a message to us on. We wanted to do something a little different to the traditional guest book and we loved the idea of our guests coming across old or funny photos of themselves and it being a talking point.
We also made our favours with Gareth’s parents – little pots of homemade jam and marmalade. That was a lot of fun getting messy in the kitchen! We also individually decorated all the jam jars with little touches and made confetti cones out of pages from an old ‘Secret Garden’ book. Gareth’s dad was amazing and decorated the stairs in the grand hall – it looked absolutely stunning.

Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
We were following Clare’s page on Facebook as we were researching local wedding photographers. She posted a competition she was hosting to win a photography shoot with her. We entered and got the 1st runner up! We were over the moon as we could see instantly her work was above and beyond all the others we’d seen.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We were absolutely pleased with Clare. She was so easy to get on with, and always enthusiastic and positive about our wedding. She was really approachable and was always more than happy to answer any questions we had about anything. On the day itself, Clare was absolutely brilliant. She captured all the details of the day – I’m not quite sure how she managed to fit it all in! Our guests were also commenting afterwards about how lovely our photographer was, she was very professional and personable. We would definitely recommend Clare to all of our friends.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
We received our wedding photos really quickly – it only took a couple of weeks. We were over the moon when we received them! We sat down with some bubbles one evening and went through them all together. We were delighted at how amazing the photos came out – we felt like we were looking at pictures from a magazine! Clare captured the most beautiful moments of our day and we are so pleased that we get to keep these special moments and look back on them in the future.
We chose Glemham Hall in Little Glemham, Suffolk – a Grade I listed house.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
An amazing day we couldn’t have wished more from.
Your wedding style or theme:
Very British. Floral with a nod to the secret garden.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
We found our suppliers from all over the place. Researching online, recommendations from our venue.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Barter on everything – suppliers are open to it and will try to accommodate your budget if possible. Also keep a spreadsheet and a tally of all your expenses, you can see whether there is anything you can cut when you look at the bigger picture.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Our photographer! She was so amazing and the photos will do prove that you get good quality for what you pay for.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We created all of our stationary using the templates on Vistaprint
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Oh yes – I’d tried on over 20 dresses that day and I was losing hope of finding ‘the one’ in the same day. I then went to this particular boutique and it was the first dress I put on. I instantly knew it was amazing and was right for me. It just fit so well and hugged in all the right places. The style was perfect too, it was definitely ‘me’ and my personality came across in it.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
Jenny Packham everything! I came across her things and absolutely loved the style. It’s very vintage looking but also very affordable. I wore some Jenny Packham studded shoes, and also bought some crystal tear-drop earrings, and a crystal necklace to wear.
And what did the groom wear?
Gareth bought a very smart navy blue Ted Baker Lounge Lizard suit for the big day. We hired accessories from Moss Bros – a pink cravat tie and ivory waistcoat.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My bridesmaids wore floor-length blush pink dresses from Debenhams. They were multi-way styles which meant the girls could decide what they wanted to do in terms of style and I loved that it would mean they were all different whilst reflecting their personalities.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
We hired The Boutique who was local to us. Zena was great – she listened intently to all our ideas and the outcome was just perfect.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We wanted a wedding cake that actually tasted great, and we had heard great things about Marks & Spencer cakes. We bought ours from them and we weren’t disappointed. We had tiers of fruit cake, sponge with buttercream and chocolate ganache. All the pieces went by the end of the night so it must have been good!
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We hired Royal Blue (c/o Entertainment Nation) as our band for the night. They were AMAZING. They really looked to see what the crowd were enjoying and played songs suited to the audience. – their energy was huge and it really reflected on the guests who were having a great time. Literally everyone was on the dance floor everything they were playing, and guests even asked us for the song playlist after the wedding!
We also rented an ice cream bike to serve our guests ice cream as dessert. It was a surprise on the day so it was really fun to hear everyone’s excited noise when it was announced. Gareth and I served the first few to guests too – it’s a lot harder than it looks!
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Try to take in the whole day where you can. It really does go so quickly and it’s nice to take just 5 minutes to look around with your husband and say ‘this is it’, ‘we did it’ 🙂
What’s the best thing about being married?
Being able to share life with someone who understands you and loves you unconditionally.
