Happy Friday!! It’s been a wonderful and exciting week here at English Wedding Blog HQ – and we have so many stunning shoots and weddings up our sleeves to share with you this month… but as always I like to end the week with something exceptionally beautiful. This is Lucy & Alex’s glorious Dorset wedding. It’s absolutely sublime!

The styling touches and details are deliciously subtle and mix soft pastels for a chic country theme. Lucy and Alex are both so, so gorgeous – and the loveliest thing is their choice of wedding location.

St Catherines chapel is a tiny church perched on a Dorset Hill, a landmark that can be seen and enjoyed from miles around. Very few ceremonies are held there with couples having to attend church services in Abbotsbury for a number of months before. I had wanted to photograph a wedding here for some time and this ceremony occured when I was meant to be attending a friend’s wedding elsewhere. Luckily I arranged that my associate photographer Oana, would cover the bridal preparations, I joined for the ceremony & bridal portraits, before handing back coverage to my associate for the evening celebrations.
The day worked beautifully with great weather being present, giving that all important blue sky backdrop. Guests were taxied up to the hillside chapel by tractor & trailer, followed later by the bride and her bridemaids. Great photos to be had, if a little windy – but it wouldn’t be the British coast without a little weather turbulence.
Their reception was at Gorwell Barn, Abbotsbury – a converted beautiful rustic barn nestled in a valley with its own micro climate. A great choice of ceremony location and well worth jumping through hoops to secure it. It’s so good it’s where I am getting married later this year and it’s down to Alex & Lucy’s wedding for drawing this little gem to our attention!
