I’m smitten with Danielle and Christian’s wedding – their entire day is beautiful: from the tiniest details (the collar on Danielle’s dress; Christian’s buttonhole) to the big stuff; I adore ALL of the portraits of the two of them, and those amazing red leaves on the building opposite their venue… what a stunning collection of memories of a beautiful homespun English wedding!
“My family were amazing and helped with quite a few things which saved us a lot. My nan made the invitations, place names and cupcake cases. My aunty made the cake and cupcakes. My uncle made the cake stand. The wooden box and hearts were bought on ebay for about £25, printed games were handmade by myself and my husband. The table plan I made myself.”
“I had been to a couple of bridal shops and outlets and tried on some very beautiful dresses, but when I tried my dress on my mum cried and didn’t want to take it off, it was one of the easiest decisions I had made for our wedding. The service we received in the Bridal Rooms in Atherstone made it worth the extra cost, and they recommended a seamstress to do any alterations which was just round the corner from their shop. Also wonderful!”

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We are overwhelmed with everything Hannah did. The whole day was so relaxed and the photographer was a huge part of that. She was friendly and approachable while still being so professional. My family adored her, she fit in so comfortably on a very private day.
The whole service has been a complete pleasure from start to finish. From the 1st meeting we actually didn’t meet with any other photographers, completely not necessary after seeing her work and then meeting her for coffee to discuss ideas.
The photos we have been provided with are an exceptional standard.
The whole day was captured beautifully.
One of the best decisions we made for our unforgettable day.
How did you choose your photographer?
Hannah is a friend of a friend of the groom’s, another wedding photographer who was part of our wedding so couldn’t work on the day.
Hannah was just starting up at the time but she still came very highly recommended, our friend said she seemed to have a real eye for it which you don’t come by often.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
The moment we first saw our photos was overwhelming.
We didn’t think it was possible to capture how we both felt through the day.
All the photos are so vibrant and colourful, they are truly a wonderful representation of how the day felt to us both.
Coleshill Hotel, 152-156 High Street, Coleshill, Birmingham B46 3BG for the ceremony and reception. Coleshill Green near the church for the outside photography.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
A truly beautiful day with all our favorite people.
Your wedding style or theme:
Sort of rustic? There wasn’t a strict theme, we just chose what we liked.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
A lot of ideas came from pinterest!
What’s your top tip for saving money?
We ordered the mens suits online which in all honesty saved us a fortune, they were handmade from a company called Tailor4less, they are highly recommended!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
Shoes – Kurt Geiger – Stuart Weitzmann stilettos – worth a visit to Bicester Village! (i also had a flat pair for the evening from Faith)
Earrings – bought online but honestly can’t remember where from
And what did the groom wear?
Suit – tailored tweed grey suit from a company online Taylors4less. We changed the buttons ourselves, we bought tan buttons from ebay.
Shoes – tans brogues from Ted Baker.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Dresses – navy floor length, strapless from Coast.
Jewellery – silver necklaces and earrings from Pandora, bought online, big save!
Shoes – patent nude heels from Marks & Spencers
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Make-up – I did myself, i just invested in a couple of Bobby Brown bits. I went for a tutorial at one of the counters in House of Fraser which i would highly recommend.
Hair – friend called Charlie, she did mine and the bridesmaids hair, she was so patient with us all and made getting ready lovely and relaxed.
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
My flowers were lovely but if I’m honest the company that provides them were terrible and i wouldn’t recommend!
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
The decor was also lovely but done by the same company that did the flowers.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
The cake stand, handmade by me uncle john, he made a home out of tree slices, we use it in our living room to display a couple of wedding photos.
The invitations and place names made by nan, were done in the same style, a bit of a vintage, rustic style.
The printed games were handmade by myself and my husband, we had the idea from pinterest.
The table plan i made myself, it took hours but genuinely helped me concentrate on something else a few days before the wedding.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
The cakes and cupcakes made by my aunty were freshly made the day before, quite honestly the most beautiful cupcakes I’ve ever had. We had 3 flavours; lemon curd, white chocolate and almond and guinness, the cutting cake was also a guinness.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Myself and my husband made a playlist for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, it was one of the best decisions we made. Music is so important. It helped create the atmosphere for the whole day.
So many of guests have mentioned since how much they enjoyed the music and have asked for the playlist.
A family friend dj’d for us. He was fantastic.
We got together and talked about the kind of music we love and hate, made a list of bands and songs and he did the rest.
The dance floor was never empty all evening. Everything you want at your wedding!
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Relax through the planning, try and enjoy it.
Decide which parts are the most important to you both and make sure you concentrate on them.
Don’t over spend on the silly stuff, no-one will notice.
Find an amazing photographer so you can look back on the day and see it as it should be, as you remember it.
What’s the best thing about being married?
The memories of the day.
Also i love having his name, feels really special.
He can call me the Mrs now and i can’t moan about it.
