Dilini and William’s wedding in the Cotswolds is gorgeous: and I love it because it’s wonderfully personal to them as a couple. Dilini’s Sri Lankan background was a big part of the day, and they even had a wedding cake brought over from Sri Lanka especially!
Dilini told me, “The best thing we did was to pick a venue that was willing to make it as personal as possible for us. We loved The Matara Centre as we both felt it fitted with both of our backgrounds and personalities well.”

The English Wedding Blog Interview: William & Dilini
Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
We did lots of research online. We loved Kevin Belsons website and his style of photography. Kevin and Carol also did a pre wedding photo shoot with us which was important as we got to know them well before the wedding and got a feel for their style. We also liked the fact that the Kevin and Carol came as a pair. They managed to capture emotions and moments that were so special very well. The day itself can be a blur so it was important that we had these moments captured.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Kevin and Carol were a pleasure to work with. Our wedding photographs were fantastic. They showed real commitment and enthusiasm planning and carrying out the pre-wedding shoot. On the wedding day they were present throughout until the first dance and did not seem phased when things went on slightly longer than anticipated.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
We were so so happy when we had the photos, they were fantastic
Wedding venue:
The Matara Centre, Gloucestershire http://www.matara.co.uk/
Wedding month:
November
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
An intimate and cosy November wedding.
Your wedding style or theme:
Not really a specific theme. It was important for us to have a beautiful Cotswold’s wedding fused with my Sri Lankan background.
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
We live in Hove and I found my La Sposa dress in a shop very local to us called “Once upon a time”.
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
The shoes are from John Lewis Rainbow club.
Jewellery from Sri Lanka – to match my Sri Lankan blue sapphire engagement ring
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
The suits were all from Ted Baker.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
The bridesmaid’s dresses were Little Mistress dresses
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Flowers were fantastic, all done by Rowan Blossom who is based in London but is from Gloucestershire. Rowan also arranged the beautiful fresh flowers in between the layers on our wedding cake.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
As I said before it was important that we had a Sri Lankan element to our day. Will was brought up in Gloucestershire and I am originally from Sri Lanka. The best thing we did was to pick a venue that was willing to make it as personal as possible for us. We loved The Matara Centre as we both felt it fitted with both of our backgrounds and personalities well. The venue had an Asian influence in the middle of the Cotswolds which was unusual. It also came with a stunning regency house which we hired for the weekend for the wedding party. It was a November wedding, so we wanted it to be intimate and cosy.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
The beautiful table plan was done by my close friend Amy Hutton. As I said before it was important that we had a Sri Lankan element to our day.
We had a traditional Sri Lankan wedding cake brought all the way from Sri Lanka as a wedding favour with a little bottle of Sri Lankan arrack to wash it down with!
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
The cake was delicious – a butter cream wedding cake with beautiful fresh flowers in between the layers – done by Rowan our florist. It was done by a local Gloucestershire company called Cut Above Cake.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had Claire Hamilton, a harpist play at the ceremony and after. We had a friend do the DJing for the reception.
On the day tips and advice:
Delegate and do this early!
