Roz & Tom are gorgeous. Their wedding – a perfect winter’s day – is full of special and very personal touches which make it as unique as it is lovely to look at. Roz made candles for every table (yes: made them!) and I love the scrabble place names they had too.
“I was very sentimental about my jewellery and wore pieces I had been given over the years by my mum, brother and girlfriends rather than buying anything new. I also wore my late grandmother’s diamond engagement ring which is just beautiful!”

When I asked Roz what she thought was the best thing about being married, she told me “Feeling more in love with the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with and receiving the first piece of post as Mr and Mrs, so exciting!”. I love the idea of sending a lovely handwritten letter to the new Mr & Mrs… what a wonderful little gift it would make!

Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
We met our lovely wedding photographer at the GLive Wedding Fair in Guildford. After meeting a lot of photographers at the fair and looking at a range of websites, we chose Jennifer as she instantly put us both at ease, took a personal interest in us and our upcoming wedding and made her pricing very clear. I also loved her vintage, girly style and amazing portfolios!
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We were more than pleased with our photographer! The journey from meeting Jennifer to our wedding day (and beyond!) was seamless. She ensured she got to know us, what we liked and made the entire experience easy. A lot of our guests commented on how smiley Jennifer was throughout the day and how she just blended in with our guests. We also loved that Jennifer offered, as part of our wedding package, meetings within our own home, an engagement shoot to get used to being in front of the camera, digital and album pictures, a slideshow (to music) to view our beautiful pictures post wedding day and lots of attention to detail to ensure our day was perfectly captured.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
What an amazing unforgettable experience! It was just like reliving our wedding day all over again and just as emotional! Jennifer came round to our home and showed us our photo slideshow which she had put to music, including our first dance track, which was extremely thoughtful and emotional to say the least. It was evident how much time and effort Jennifer had put into sharing our treasured memories with us.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
A beautiful day celebrating love, marriage, family and friendship.
Your wedding style or theme:
Natural,winter, woodland chic!
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Wedding fairs, wedding blogs and linked suppliers recommended by our venue. I also got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Ditching wedding favours and having our guests email their RSVPs. Saved on the postage and paper!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The boys suits, flowers, photographer, hiring a photo booth from You Beauty, and little personal touches to make the day our own.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We used a ready made template from Vistaprint then personalised it. Lots of great options to choose from and we loved the added option to personalise the envelopes too. I was really impressed with the quality and delivery speed.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Head over heels! It was the last dress I tried on and I just didn’t want to take it off.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
I kept my look very simple. My shoes were ivory lace from the bridal collection by Phase Eight and my short veil was from there too. I was very sentimental about my jewellery and wore pieces I had been given over the years by my mum, brother and girlfriends rather than buying anything new. I also wore my late grandmothers diamond engagement ring which is just beautiful! I did splash out on a new scent for the day and went for the Coco Chanel Mademoiselle shower gel, lotion and perfume to layer the scent as much as possible. This was one of the best decisions I made as my husband and I now both associate that smell with our wedding day.
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
The groom wore a navy blue Ted Baker ‘Tails of the UnexpecTed’ tail suit. We wanted to have traditional tail suits but with a modern twist so they were perfect! We particularly loved the green peacock lining and silver paisley tie to match the colour scheme. We hired the suits but as a nice touch from Ted Baker, the pocket square and tie were a gift for all the groomsmen to keep as a memento.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My lovely bridesmaids wore dark grey dresses from Little Mistress, a concession we found in House of Fraser. Unfortunately they didn’t stock the colour we needed so we ordered the correct colour online. They were excellent quality and fitted all my girls including one of my bridesmaids who was 6 and half months pregnant at the time!
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I was extremely lucky as one of my beautiful bridesmaids is a hair and make up artist so she looked after both my mum and I. It was so lovely to have someone I care about doing my make up and hair to ensure I still looked like me on the day, a request from my husband!
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
I absolutely loved our flowers, they were worth every penny! Russell New from Blomster Designs, created the bouquets, a small basket of flowers for our flower girl and the table decorations all to match our winter woodland theme. They were a mix of white roses and flowers, green foliages, pine cones and natural frosted twigs.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
As we got married at Christmas our venue already had a lot of decorations already in place. One of the reasons we fell in love with our venue was the stunning 15 foot Christmas tree in the hotel reception. Other than the Christmas bits, we used our table flowers to decorate our ceremony room, used lace tie backs to change the look of the curtains and then added a few personal touches to add character to our day.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
I made all our candle votives for the tables which took a long time but I was really pleased with the result! We are lucky to have a friend who is a talented artist so she handmade our amazing wedding timeline blackboard and matching table name blackboards, the handwritten table name cards and table plan luggage tags. I loved how they added a personal touch but couldn’t have done them myself!
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
After researching wedding cakes and not being a huge fan of cake my husband and I decided to go for a cake of cheese instead. My husband’s very generous best man and his wife, love the idea so much that they bought the 12kg of cheese for us our wedding present! We purchased all the cheeses from The Cheese Works, Cheltenham after a tasting appointment and went for all English cheeses.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We hired Mark Parker, thedj.co.uk, after hearing his fantastic work at another wedding. He was really keen to chat to us abut our music likes and dislikes and helped us put together a collection of old and new tracks to keep everyone dancing throughout the evening. The only surprise we had was a ‘drum and bass’ 20 minute set for my husband to relive his youth with his friends!
On the day tips and advice:

- Take two minutes to look around at what you created and to soak in how much love is in the room!
