Rustic doesn’t have to mean basic: with a few simple touches and an eye on the smaller details you can create an elegant and natural wedding style. Gorgeous bride and groom Michael and Sarah – whose Delbury Hall wedding was featured on the blog here – had some fabulous touches to inspire all couples planning a rustic, elegant woodland inspired wedding day.

The venue is key: look for a location which is carefully and cleanly finished, and doesn’t look too dark inside. You need more than an average barn to build in a touch of elegance.
Delbury Hall’s Coach House has all the light and brightness of an orangery combined with the fabulous and characterful beamed ceiling… it’s perfect for a rustic celebration with an elegant finish.
Lauradana Day from Wedding Creations UK added personalised touches like fairy lights, bunting and wooden bark table settings to enhance the look of the venue – and they worked beautifully. For timeless, unique woodland themed stationery try Pear Paper Co. via Not On The High Street.
Keep cakes simple. Rustic buttercream with a few flowers is all you need – you could also add a little hessian and brown twine for a more woodlandy feel.
Choose mixed wedding flowers with some statement blooms and plenty of texture. I loved Sarah’s colour theme of dusky peach. Her bouquet mixed David Austin roses, peonies and wild foliage inspired by a bohemian look. Flowers shown are by Sarah Jane Midwood.
